Paradise and 9/11

Featured Replies

Anyone else realize that then new single (or EP or whatever) is right after 9/11 the day where three thousand people died 10 years ago? Why on earth the name paradise?

P.S.

I'm still excited to hear it, just disagree with the title and date.

edit: ment 10 years, not 19, typo :edit

It was actually 10 years ago. And because life goes on, yes. Awfully sorry for those who died and their relatives. But if a single named Paradise can't be released 10 years and a day after a tragedy, then what is still allowed?

Right now there are hundreds of thousands of people dying in East Africa, which is more actual and even worse than 9/11 (other than the latter causing a new world order and general Western paranoia on top of it). Should the single Paradise be trashed because it's inappropriate?

19 years? That will be in 2020

i'm bad in maths but if you refer to the NY towers attack i think it's 10 years not 19.

couldn't be they are trying to bring hope to survivors and so?

If Paradise is a heaven reference like I think it is, then some people may draw some comfort from it, so you can look at this both ways.

I don't think however that it means anything. They're a British band, and it happened 10 years ago. If they wanted to do a tribute they probably would have on the VLV album.

To be fair 19 is obviously a typo since 9 is right next to 0 ;) All you correction police :P

But no, sorry don't agree at all. It's the day after the day something happened 10 years ago.

But the fact still remains, 9/11 wasn't the happiest day and it sure wasn't paradise. I do agree with Wickett and all. Also, Coldplay did pay their tribute in the song Politik. Wouldn't be surprised if they added some comforting words in Paradise too.

P.S.

Do not take this the wrong as though I am still mopping around about 9/11.

Maybe. I Think it hasn't anything to do with 9/11. But it would be awesome if Paradise is a memorial song.

Yes, they did Politik. But I don't think Paradise will be a tribute. Even though people are still sobbing ten years later, the message won't be as relevant. I think Paradise release is just a coincidence.

because life goes on?

Yeah.

In the rarest of cases coldplay make a political statement. This is not one of them. And, if anything, paradise is a nice name for a song on a day of remembrance. As opposed to...many things

It's kinda annoying that everyone cries about that.

Well shit Happend im sorry for all who died and lost Friends and Family but ripping that Day off only because of that is stupid.

It's kinda annoying that everyone cries about that.

What the hell.

Don't really see why there has to be a connection.

Super insensitive thing to say. C'mon now.

On Topic, there is no issue at all with a song called Paradise coming out ten years and a day afterwards. I'm sure it will in no way be offensive. Not a big deal.

oh for crying out loud don't tell me that you guys believe that it will be a song about that just cuz of the coincidence?!

Just because the attacks on the US occured on 9/11 does not mean that anything released on or near that day cannot be happy. At some point you have to realize that you have to move forward, and not dwell on the past.

This DEFINITELY takes the cake for worst thread.

Every year, there are countless songs and albums released around this time.

Heck, I remember Kanye West & 50 Cent had their albums battle in 2007 on September 11th.

2 years ago, JayZ dropped his album on Sept. 11th. These are US superstars and nobody said anything. Now Coldplay (British superstars) is releasing a song the day after the 11 and suddenly it's mayhem!???

This Sept. 11th is also the beginning of American football season (lots of partying, swearing and drinking). Around 80 millions will be watching and partying. Now THAT should be a problem not Paradise.

and if we were to pay attention to all the sad days in the world (some of which were caused by the Americans) , then every day would be a sad day. sorry if this offends someone, but it is the truth.

Maybe the song is called Paradise because it's a tribute song to the victims and Coldplay is praying for them to go to Heaven:idea2::rolleyes5:

omg the NFL is going to have the first official games of the season on 9/11

HOW DARE THEY PLAY GAMES AND HAVE FUN AND GET PEOPLE EXCITED AND HAPPY I MEAN WTF I DON'T EVEN

What the hell.

This.

You do understand 9/11 was a day that shaped the future of America, right? Shit happened, alright.
