Unless i'm making it a point to listen to the whole album all the way through the only song I will skip (so far) is Major Minus. Probably won't skip over Paradise, thuogh it's just an average CP song for me. I like ETIAW, really like UATW and love Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven.

i'll definitely sit down at least once and listen to the whole album in order. Then after that, i'll probably put all the good ones into my 'Coldplay favourites" playlist on itunes and create a new one title "Mylo Xyloto favourites" and i'll probably listen to that playlist for many weeks :P

 

i actually think i'll like MX. I don't like Paradise but ETIAW is pretty good however both are so different to the other unreleased songs so i definitely think there's going to be a variety of CB/HLH type songs and Paradise/ETIAW type songs

Can you compare Paradise and A Whisper? Holy God.

i'll buy the album, listen it completelly a couple times, if then the 2 pieces missing fall into place, i'll listen them, if not surely on my pc i'll only play the ones i like more from all coldplay's works.... and i guess when played on the radio i'll go lalalala.... :uhoh:

I'll listen to the full album, and I'm pretty sure I'll like it altogether (as the story it is). For those who want to skip songs on iTunes, you just have to "disable" them using the checkbox, you don't need to delete them. Example:

Meh. I tend to leave things on my iPod because sometimes I get in strange moods and think to myself, 'oh I feel like listening to this song for once', and if I didn't I would be sitting there disappointed and unsatisfied. Even though it's not a great song, I just sometimes feel like listening to "bad" music.

For me I will listen to the album a couple of times through in its' entirety and see if ETIAW and Paradise suddenly make sense and click. If they don't then I will probably manually skip them on both my iPod and my CD player.

 

I mean I hate not having complete albums on my iPod for integrity... But if I don't like the song I can easily skip it. My iPod is normally in my front pocket so it's easy enough

Well, I personally love ETIAW and Paradise - not my favourite Coldplay songs but they're still really good in my opinion - so I won't be skipping them. But even if I did, I don't like getting rid of songs in albums, especially if one segues into another, as it just sounds wrong to me. The only one I have ever done that with was Elbow's Seldom Seen Kid album, and although I love Friend Of Ours, I much prefer One Day Like This as an album closer. Cos, y'know, I'm odd like that :P

I didn't know where to put this. But anyway.

I don't really understand the two extremes. Either it's the absolutely best music EVER or it's the absolutely worst music EVER. And we should kill Brian Eno or whatever. But I just don't see it.

I think Us Against the World, Hturts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, and Major Minus are fantastic songs. And frankly I don't see why other people don't like them- sonically, melodically, and lyrically they're not terribly different to the Coldplay music of the past and even better in some cases.

As for the other two songs, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall and Paradise, well. I think ETIAW is a good-great song, even with the synth intro I'm not in the understanding of hatred. It's no more pop-influenced than Life in Technicolor- it's grounded on a synth melody played alongside an acoustic guitar. Jonny's playing is fantastic and the only real weak points are the opening two stanzas of lyrics and ending chorus. It reminds me vividly of a U2-esque song to be honest and has grown on me a decent amount. It seems that much better ever since Paradise was released a few days ago.

Paradise on the other hand I feel is dreadful at best. There doesn't seem to be much meaning in the lyrics, the chorus is overblown and repetitive and the drum-track is really boring and generic. I don't think the problem with this song is it's pop/hip-hop influneces. I don't know about anyone else but there are pop and h-h songs I listen to that are good and even great in some cases. But in Coldplay's case 1) It's just not their strong-suit in making these things 2) There's nothing redeeming or worthwhile in it. It's not catchy or deep or clever or revealing. It just doesn't work.

With all of that in mind I am very excited for the new songs, I expect that as Paradise and ETIAW were released as singles, they're the MOST pop-influenced on the album, that is to say, more than any other song and thus that's why they were chosen. I don't think there's any other songs like that because the other song they considered for the second single was Charlie Brown, which seems more alt. rock influenced than pop for me. :shrug: If Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven are in fact the next two most pop songs on the album after ETIAW and Paradise, I think we're in for a very good album my friends. :cool:

and then there's the random button. you can't count down to songs you want to skip because you don't know when they'll play :p

ETIAW is even better then 'paradise' and i kind of like ETIAW at the moment.

But 'paradise' is a song i will never like 'MM' is getting boring real soon BTW.

I agree with the fact that to date these are the worst new songs we heard, so I just hope that there won't be anything like them, but I definitely will be skipping those two.

I hate The Hardest Part (the album version--the solo piano version is magical) and Twisted Logic but I still like X&Y. So to answer your question, yes.

if there aren't other songs like paradise and etiaw i will not only like but even BUY the album for sure.

duh btw every teardrop isnt that bad i had a problem with the fact that it is sampled but hey talk is also sampled and its a good song ...and dude did you forgot about charlie brown MX and hurts like heaven,i would add princess of china(but rihanna ruins it) so yeah i think its good
