Nightmare traffic coming out, a couple of prangs (not us) in the snow on the M56 and didn't get back to Nottingham until 1:30am. However, what a superb night and a fantastic show, certainly up there with one of the best I've seen. I remember my first Coldplay gig (many years ago) when I was told to sit down! I don't think you'd get away with that now.

Didn't know about the wristbands before we got there so when they all lit up at the start it was a breath-taking sight. Politik and God Put A Smile On Your Face, my two stand out songs of the night but nothing disappointed.

Still, does anyone know how to make the wristbands start flashing again? My kids don't believe me (even though I've shown them the video).

Well done Manchester, great night!

Quick video clip from me, taken during the awesome glowing wristband moment in Charlie Brown. Probably the best track of the night for me!

Review Part 1:

2 years, 2 months and 14 days since I last saw Coldplay. I haven’t been counting, honest!

The weather yesterday was pretty dreadful, rainy, grey and cold. As a result we set off earlier than planned, which was quite beneficial as we ended up in Moon Under Water for some tea. A pint of cider and some Moroccan meatballs later, we decided to have a stroll through the Christmas market towards the arena.

Arriving at the arena, we headed for our seats. At the door to the block, we had our tickets checked and then were given our wristbands. I got a lime green and cerise pink one. Ian’s was white, and I think had pink on too.

We arrived in our seats just before The Low Suns came on. I quite liked them, and apparently their EP was released on itunes yesterday.

Marina & the Diamonds was the second support. I saw her on BBC Breakfast the other week and was quite looking forward to seeing her. She was good, but I think I preferred The Low Suns. I also didn’t understand why she was wearing her nightdress on stage with a grey wig.

So after Marina, cue the roadies :D They have a new outfit! From the distance, it looked they were wearing matching t-shirts. They were black with a green flame symbol and Mylo Xyloto written in pink on the back. It also looked as though some of them had something written in pink along the length of one sleeve too.

I always find it fascinating watching the roadies and the seemingly seamless way they work together. It never ceases to amaze me the bravery of the guys who climb the rope ladders into the lights either.

Hi Anna

I was at the front of the stage, and from what it looked like, theres a sloping runway that goes behind the stage, and at certain points, Chris, Jonny, and Guy walked around it, so those sat at the rear could see them.

I think Coldplay were inspired by U2 with the 360degree idea, but no-one can top U2, theirs was an incredible monster of a set-up with 360degree screen and a rotating mini-stage for Larry Mullens drums and a seperate circular runway!

Hey Anna! The stage is great, they pretty much use every inch of space!

A friend of mine was in rearview, fairly high up and he said he had a great view, and from 'Viva' onwards, everyone stood up and got really involved. The energy is just phenomenal, you'll have a great time!

Wow, Daylight! I would've died. Pretty much the only thing that would've erased the horror of What If.

Daylight was the best song by a mile! I was gutted that DLIBYH or Up with The birds wasn't played but Daylight made up for it!

Wow! Wow! WOOOOOOOOOW!

My first Coldplay concert! They have always been my favourite band and I have finally seen them! I was 'sat' in Block 215, Row Q, Seat 28...and my chair was broken!...Good job that I stood up from the moment Mylo Xyloto rang out until moments after the band left the stage!

So shocked to see 'What If', 'Daylight' and 'Til Kingdom Come' played. I LOOOOOOOOOVE What If, and Daylight has always been one of their songs I like the least, but it was awesome live!

GOOSEBUMPS at the beginning when Mylo Xyloto played and everyones wristbands started flashing, I had a red one! :D

Some stupid people were banging the bands on the floor to get them working before coldplay came on...they did, but they didn't flash...and they continued not to flash until the end, because they had broken them! Ruined the experience for themselves a bit....

Highlights? Violet Hill and then GPASAYF STRAIGHT after- two of my fave Coldplay songs!! Brilliant!....'What If', ....Major Minus was also brilliant live, loved it! Oh...and CHARLIE BROWN! And Paradise was good...AND POLITIK!!!!!,...Ahh! It was all brilliant!

A bit annoyed that I was in the seats, so far away from the band...but the experience was still immense! I am seeing them AGAIN In Manchester next June...WHERE I WILL BE STANDING!!!

Can't wait.

:D

I wish I saw some of you Coldplayer's though! :/ But I will promise to do that in June! :)

I was in the rear view seats directly behind the band and had an amazing view. I was only about 6 rows up and felt so close to them. I had been worried about it being a limited view but to be honest we had one of the best and every time anyone came round to our side the whole block went wild.

They have a screen up so you can see the front view but did not feel the need to look at them and was happy watching Will banging away on the drums as I never normally focus on him.

Still on a high. :D

So. First Coldplay gig, and Hurts Like Heaven leading into Yellow at the start made it worth the ticket price alone! I loved Lost as well, then the fuck up on Major Minus brought back memories of watching Glasto on telly and hearing some MX songs for the first time! In My Place, What If & Daylight were amazing and really stood out for me, if only because they were really unexpected. I loved the setlist idea of sandwiching the older songs amongst two chunks of MX. I was surprised when we reached Til Kingdom Come that we had only had 3 MX songs by that point. Then along came Politik, and the arena exploded! Most people around me had been stood up at various points of the gig so far, myself included, but everyone got up for Politik. Then Viva La Vida kept the energy high. Charlie Brown was, as always, beautiful and I enjoyed singing "Charlie Brown" in time with the guitar as I always do! And the wristbands were beautiful during Charlie Brown as well. Then Paradise, finishing the main set with a bang. Then Clocks, Fix You & finally ETIAW to really top of the whole night! Really great gig from a band I've loved for years.

It was so good, that I'm tempted to try and source a ticket to next year's stadium gig at the Etihad!:D
