suzanafg
If Adele and Coldplay do the closing ceremony and Muse do the opening, then this if something I can't possibly miss.
UdaPruda
Britpop icons Blur will headline a show at London's Hyde Park to celebrate the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics on August 12th. The bill for the event, which will include giant screens displaying highlights from the official closing ceremony, will also feature performances by New Order and the Specials. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/blur-to-headline-olympics-closing-show-20120221#ixzz1nVIr6aU8 But what about BLur? I thought it was clear that Coldplay won't do the ceremony. Or it's two different shows? I'm so confused
Coeurli
^Maybe the people organizing the ceremony saw Blur's Brits performance... (imo it wasn't great)
suzanafg
^^It's because Blur are stated as the headliners of the closing ceremony, but it doesn't mean there is no room for other acts (at least that's how I understood the latest news). blueberry426
I hesitantly posted it but it's too vague. I don't know how credible Digital Spy is. It does sound too vague but I still hope it's true. In the article, the director only mentioned Adele. :(.
Marktopshelf22
Bump, I'm from the US, but I'm watching it on a live stream, are they definitely confirmed?
Tash
They are closing the Paralympics, not the Olympics : ) http://www.coldplay.com/oracledetail_pop.php?id=2863

This is such a waste of time then lol
Cheese Nip 2
This is an olympics question not really a Coldplay question but will Blur be on TV at all or will they not show any of that? I know The Who are supposed to be playing:)
coldplaymom
Will they at least play some Coldplay songs? I was late tuning in.

Simon7
What load of shit the closing ceremony has been!!! Where Coldplay when you need them ??? Lol
Lauriane
I didn't see the opening ceremony so I can't compare, but I was really disappointed by this one. It really lacks rhythm and exciting stuff for me. I spend the night all like "Coldplay, where y'all hiding ? We need you now !"
Simon7
I may as well had this on mute and played Coldplay songs for the 2 and half hours
Guest howyousawtheworld
I didn't see the opening ceremony so I can't compare, but I was really disappointed by this one. It really lacks rhythm and exciting stuff for me. I spend the night all like "Coldplay, where y'all hiding ? We need you now !" Closing ceremonies are never as good as the opening ceremony but this one is just not good. Apart from Eric Idle singing Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life and the John Lennon and Imagine part the rest has been poor! Oh and I really REALLY cannot stand Jessie J. She really ruined it all. But the opening ceremony - wow. That was magic. Danny Boyle did us all proud there. I'll never forget the images of so many chimneys, the Olympic rings forging in the sky and the innocence of the children and nurses from Great Ormond Street Hospital enjoying themselves amidst characters of children's literature and Mike Oldfield's music. Lauriane
Oh and I really REALLY cannot stand Jessie J. She really ruined it all. Hahahaha I was laughing so hard when she came on to sing with Queen ! That was terrible ! I hope Mercury didn't get to hear that from where he is :dozey: Dear God, this is SO boring
kittybitty
I hope Coldplay was at least asked to be a part of it and had to turn it down. A celebration of British music and no Coldplay??? Anyway, Glastonbury is coming on in a few minutes so I'm going to settle down with that!
coldplaymom
Gary Barlow singing with Take Back after the news that he just lost a child was heartbreaking. Other than that, very boring ceremony.
