Only three cinemas in the whole of Malaysia showing the movie, all in the capital. Luckily one of those cineplexes is the one near me :loveshower:

I bought my ticket online, only collecting it tomorrow before the show. But I'm not expecting to be all pretty like some of the ones posted here...

Hoping to make it, that day has quickly become quite busy with a trip to LA to see the shuttle Endeavor, gf has a test nearby that afternoon, then off to see Coldplay. Going to Dos Lagos near Corona (7pm or 9pm) with an 11:30pm showing in Anaheim Hills as a backup if LA trip hits delays. Buying tickets at the window, I'm banking on not much pre-sale, hope I'm right but we get a good crowd!

Coldplay Live 2012 Movie

Coldplay Live 2012 Movie - preview

Coldplay fans, it’s time to leave your iPods at home and rock the night away at the theatres on Nov 13 with Coldplay Live 2012. Taken from their upcoming concert DVD directed by Paul Dugdale, who also previously worked on Adele’s Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert film, the film follows the band as they go around the world with their Mylo Xyloto tour that began in October 2012.

The freelance film and television director who made the award winning 2010 DVD “World On Fire” for UK band, The Prodigy, fully used his unique artistic direction and style to deliver the best of mix of Coldplay’s adrenaline-filled performances with well-crafted shots.

Vastly different from the last tour, Viva La Vida, which saw the band perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in 2009 and explored the theme of the French revolution with milder, subtler tones, Mylo Xyloto is a burst of light and bright colours in a grey world. Like a “rose in the rain” as the song “Us Against the World” goes, the theme can be seen throughout the performances with the elaborate stage set up that had graffiti-painted backdrops, pyrotechnics and multi-coloured lights. Even the instruments and T-shirts that they were wearing were hand painted and ornamented with dazzling colours to match the stage.

Lead singer Chris Martin says in the official Coldplay website, “The Mylo Xyloto tour has been the most fun we’ve ever had as a band. It’s felt very uplifting right from the start; partly because we are proud of the music, the LED wristbands, the pyrotechnics, the lasers and all of that stuff, but mainly because of the amazing audiences that we’ve been playing for.”

Seamlessly edited, the different clips from various concerts such as the Stade de France and Montreal’s Bell Centre are so well integrated that it’s hard to tell that they were at different venues if not for the captions that appear on the screen or unless you pay close attention to the changes in their clothing. Interspersed with documentary style excerpts of the band’s thoughts and behind-the-scenes footage, the movie highlights the more human and less publicly known side of the band. These include the struggles, the problems of touring and being away from family.

Though the focus of the tour is on the Mylo Xyloto album, the British rock band never fails to incorporate familiar sing-a-long favourites such as “Viva La Vida”, “Fix You” and “Yellow”. It’s hard to resist the temptation to hum along to the infectiously addictive ageless tunes as Martin goes about energetically dancing to the music.

What’s most unique about Coldplay’s tour is the excessive amounts of effort put into details like audience interaction. Giant globe-like balloons for the crowd, butterfly confetti, mini stages nested within the crowds, the Grammy award-winning band took this concert to an intimate level. The usual audible crowd sing-a-longs aside, they turned a dream into a reality, giving each ticket holder a wristband with multi-coloured LED lights that could be controlled by the lighting crew. This wholly original idea took audience participation to a whole new level with the song “Charlie Brown” being the most breath-taking audience contributed light spectacle as Martin sings the line “we’ll be glowing in the dark.”

Even if you’re not yet a fan, the story behind the whole tour concept is still a good watch especially when you throw in their easy listening tunes and beautiful theatrical lights.

Does anyone know if there is going to be any bonus stuff you get when you go to see the movie (posters, t-shirts, Xylobands, coupon for a percentage off the movie, etc.)? The tickets are really expensive, and I don't want to go see it if its just the movie and nothing else.
I believe it is just the movie. Although, when you think about it, seeing COLDPLAY on a huge screen and with a sound like you get the cinema, is kind of a bonus, in a way...:awesome:

Coldplay Live 2012 employs ARRI ALEXA Fiber Remote Option

ARRI’s new Fiber Remote Option for the ALEXA camera has been integrated into OB coverage of a Coldplay concert at the Stade de France in Paris. The footage forms part of a film entitled Coldplay Live 2012, which will be screened in cinemas worldwide tomorrow night before its DVD release on 19 November.

The ALEXA Fiber Remote Option is a version of the ALEXA camera that has been adapted specifically for broadcast-style, multi-camera productions. Using a certified system that includes CopperHead from Telecast Fiber Systems, ALEXA and ALEXA Plus models can be connected through a SMPTE 311M fibre connection and remote controlled for live painting of the image.

In May 2012 freelance cameraman Nathaniel Hill was hired as a supervisor by JADigital and began discussing ways to incorporate high-quality images into Coldplay Live 2012 with director Paul Dugdale.

“Paul and I discussed the advantages and disadvantages of having mixed formats on the shoot,” said Hill. “For a long time I have wanted to find a better way of integrating everything the beautiful 35 mm chip cameras have to offer into the broadcast of music events and TV recordings, but found my options limited to having to involve these cameras as a completely separate entity to the main OB shoot.”

Four ALEXA cameras were put to use on the shoot, working alongside 17 other HD cameras as part of an OB setup. Three of the ALEXAs were equipped with the Fiber Remote Option and were positioned to the front of the stage for a master wide shot, behind the band for tracking reverse shots, and in the pit to stage-left for close-ups of the band; a fourth ALEXA was operated wirelessly on a Steadicam for roaming shots on stage.

Hill continued: “Slow motion was important on this project and we were able to record 50 fps Log C in the camera, while Paul could watch a 25 fps Rec 709 image in the OB truck, giving him yet more options in the edit. The ARRI system allowed the vision engineer in the truck to have control of iris, colour balance, blacks, gamma, shutter, knee, gain and detail. This all helped to achieve the desired look of the concert on site and to match the ALEXA image and setup with the Sony broadcast cameras.”
