Wow, awesome! Merry Christmas to us :-)

I am somehow more excited with the fact that they played in regular clothes than anything else :P

But that is so cool! Now I can't wait to see videos and pictures from thursday's show!

What I'm thinking is perhaps the pub was open before the whole set but no one was allowed to go in once it had started? Do we know when the locals were denied access?

Coldplay in secret Somerset gig

 

People in the Somerset village of Compton Martin, got an early Christmas present from their local pub Monday night.

 

The band Coldplay turned up to perform a secret gig. It wasn't a tribute band - it was the real thing. The pub confirmed that all the 'real regulars' were allowed to stay and watch.

 

The Ring o' Bells pub, near Blagdon, is part owned by Miles Leonard, the Chairman of Parlophone, Coldplay's record label. It follows a similar surprise by Kylie Minogue at the freehouse in 2010.

 

Other guests included Conor Maynard and cockney legends Chas 'n' Dave.

"Maybe Fix You"

That's great news to see them performing together at an intimate event like that :)

 

Surely they saw it as a good opportunity to rehearse ahead of Thursday's Under1Roof concert? I am disappointed to see the 'Maybe Fix You' crossed out though :/ I desperately hope they play it in a couple of night's time when I see them as it's my favourite song!

They may have just decided that they didn't need to go through it last night, because they're so familiar with it live. Fingers crossed for you, I suspect they will still do it on the 19th. :-)

I'll be awfully surprised if they don't. But to be honest I don't care what they play, I am just thrilled to be going.

 

It's midday on Tuesday, and I am already finding it hard to concentrate on my job. HOW am I going to cope tomorrow!!

for all the xyloband enthusiasts, good news.. so probably they will be used for the under 1 roof gig too.

So Coldplay played for 1 hour? Looking at the setlist, they played 9 songs.

 

I thought they would fit more than 9 songs in an hour set?

They played for an hour! :dazzled: LUCKY people.. sigh!

 

Actually I was thinking that too.. 9 songs in an hour? Maybe Chris spent the time talking? :heart:

It's possible that the venue may have roughly planned an hour but that Coldplay decided to only play 9 songs ?

One thing annoys me on that set: only one song from Viva.

Bit of a 'so so' setlist. Also, it must be the first 'proper' gig they've played in ages. 'Proper' as in they can actually see the whites of people's eyes.
