LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"

Featured Replies

So far I like A Head Full Of Dreams, Everglow, Fun, Army Of One, Amazing Day and Up&Up most. It's far better then I could expect. Even the crazy song Kaleidoscope is growing on me, makes me wonder what the idea behind the song is.

Just downloaded the album and burning it on CD for better quality!! Pretty excited!!

Uhh, that won't increase the quality....

After my first listen I read the Rumi poem in Kaleidoscope and listened to it again. I appreciated it a lot more after reading the poem.

The site was down for hours and I initially thought "Come on, how could the AOAL video cause this?!?" Then out of curiosity I checked Has It Leaked? and sure enough there was AHFOD: leaked and on top of the trending list.

I'm staying away, though... for me, leaks are fun because of the chaos that surrounds them but I prefer to listen to an album when it is first intended to be listened to. Besides, I'm sure it's too late now to find a good link that hasn't been taken down.

lol nice one

The opening triad just slays my entire existence.

The whole album flows perfectly.

All of my expectations have been totally obliterated. #BowDownBitches

THANK YOU!!!! :D

I heard leak official apparently!!

Now I know why the site went down apparently so many people were PM'ing for links over on the leak thread that the site crashed

Thanks for the link man appreciate it :)

I'll give my feedback after I've heard it all. :D

i know my opinion is just going to drown in this current flood of opinions but i am very pleased w AFHOD

it's really what i expected and im completely happy with that. best since VIVA imo. not even close to VIVA, but better than MX/GS

I felt Fun and Army of One were the only fillers but every other track was fantastic and served a purpose.

my one gripe with it is that i wish they could have allowed a little more space b/w each track like Violet hill

Doing the same thing. Tbh i don't like the fact that it leaked so early. The hype and the excitement are the best part of album releases which is very much hampered by this.

After a few listens I feel the album had the potential to be much much better. But the production is so monstrous it absolutely destroys everything. And fake drums; fake drums everywhere!

A proper review in a couple of weeks.

Now with a better quality rip the songs sound much better and less loud.

Second run with the album i'm liking most of the songs, now is pretty even with MX but only time will tell where I will rank this one, but now is better than GS. For me the surprise of the album is Birds

AHFOD is my ultimate and favourite, might be in my current top Coldplay songs. Also, Birds is a really REALLY indie song that I'm enjoying. Kaleidoscope is also a magical part of the album, the poem recited is quite a cool addition. Colour Spectrums epic as well with the perfect sum up of the album. I just don't get why the electric guitars/solos sound muffled on Up&Up.

Everglow to me is a Coldplay classic in the making

How abouts the Twitter link?

Finally it's back on!!

Well, it's hard to judge an entire album by only one listen. But my first impressions are as follows:

AHFOD: nothing like the live version. It's much faster, energetic and, in my opinion, better, because the ooohhhs have more impact. The lyrics are fine.

Birds: nothing like I was expecting. It's like a calmer version of Hurts Like Heaven. The lyrics are good and the instrumentation is beautiful. That cut to bird sounds at the end is very unexpected, but interesting nonetheless.

HFTW: RnB song with several traces of rock. A very catchy chorus, interesting lyrics and a spectacular sound. Beyoncé is great, of course. You can say what you want about her music, but it's undeniable that she has a great voice.

Everglow: already knew this one. Soothing ballad. Reminescent of early Coldplay. Sweet lyrics and great vocals.

AOAL: already knew this one as well. It's fun and dancey, just like Coldplay wanted it to be.

Fun: one of my favourites. I was expecting a sort of slow ballad from the snippet, but then it morphed into a very uplifting, loud and moving track. The only let down is the lack of vocals by Tove Lo. She has a great voice and it goes so well with Chris's! Why not exploring it more? The lyrics are really cool and thoughtful.

Kaleidoscope: calm piano, poem narration and Amazing Grace at the end creates a dreamy athmosphere that somehow reminds me of Bioshock Infinite and the 1920s.

Army Of One: very interesting track. The drums are perfect and the whole athmosphere of the song is very dark. I enjoyed the lyrics on this one very much.

XMTS: not what I expected. It holds a very hip hopey drumbeat (which I do find cool) and manages to create a dark, whilst uplifting athmosphere. Even though the lyrics could be a bit better, the song satisfied me.

Amazing Day: it's a lot like the live version, so I don't have much to add.

Colour Spectrum: it's a longer interlude than we're used to get from the band. It's like MX but with a twist in the middle.

Up&Up: very different from the live version. This one feels emptier without the piano, but the crescendo is more noticable and the guitar solos are more proeminent.

Well, these is my first impression. Let's see if something changes as I listen to it more times.

There are some links in the leak hunt thread, you might as well would want to remove them then.

Alright my review for the AHFOD leak:

A Head Full of Dreams: I'm loving this one more and more. I did't get through it all the way, but it's a good opener for a good album. 7/10

Birds: I'm so in love with this song. It's a great coldplay song, it's bouncy and lively, and outstanding. Good job, boys. 9/10

Hymn For The Weekend: Alright, first off the lyrics seem as uncoldplay as coldplay can get. And that's saying something. It's a nice track definitely not bad and better than POC by far, but it sounds like all of it were for Beyonce. They should've put Feat. Beyonce on this one.

6-7/10

Everglow: A nice ballad to throw in the middle of all the colorfulness. Good song. 8/10

Adventure of A Lifetime: great song. Everyone's heard it. 8/10

Fun (feat. Tove Lo): I'm happily surprised by this track. It's really nice and Tove's voice is great. I din't really know how they were going to use fun in a moody track but it worked well. The only complaint I have is the silly refrain "We had fun" or whatever. 8/10

Kaleidoscope: Beats every interlude they've ever made. The textures are beautiful and the poem reading was cool. Couldn't even hear Obama. 7/10

Army of One: WHY?????? They were doing so well and then they decided to throw us crap. This is a low for them. Not the worst but the could do better. 4/10

X Marks The Spot: WTF???? Now this is terrible track. When I buy the album I'm skipping this part if I listen to Army of One. Terrible track, terrible lyrics, terrible decision. Don't ever give me that again Chris. -289/10

Amazing Day: Awesome, lively, singalong track. Beautiful sound, and good production by Stargate. 9/10

Color Spectrum: Someone said it's a terrible interlude, but it goes by so fast I don't know how to judge it. It's nice I guess. 6/10

Up&Up: The best Track on the album if not Birds or Amazing Day. But where is the piano? Can't hear well until the end. Btw great outro. Though it was short it was sweet. Great Guitar solos by the Noel Gallagher and Jonny. Stargate really should've turned up the volume on the 2nd solo cause you can't hear it that well but on Jonny's solo they did good. (or maybe the other way around I don't know who goes first)

9-9.5/10

This is a solid album. Better than Mylo Xyloto and Ghost Stories and could tie Viva La Vida eventually. I give this a strong 8/10.
