Little to No Radio Airplay for New Singles

Featured Replies

Past Coldplay albums of the last decade have gotten off to a speedy start straight into the embrace of radio playlists across many genres. Yet, that doesn't seem to be the case with an album that has had singles debut on iTunes at #1 and retain a top 10 spot. "Ghost Stories" just isn't getting mainstream radio playback. Through the guide at xmfan.com, I was able to uncover that "Magic" hasn't been played on Hits 1 since April and "A Sky Full of Stars" has yet to debut. Other stations such as Kiss, Z100, and 20 on 20 have not spun a Coldplay song in months.

Time to request more Coldplaying or what?

Songs do indeed sound better on the radio. Funny you should say actually, Don't Panic came on when I was coming home today and I..panicked :D But yeah, I think we need more GS radio play! Maybe when Ink comes out, the popularity will be boosted!

I have heard nothing on NY radio stations but the on the satellite radio stations , Sirius , Alt Nation, they play Coldplay all the time, especially now

I listen to the radio a lot, and the station in Vancouver that plays the most Coldplay (102.7 the Peak) haven't played A Sky Full of Stars once, at least not while I was listening. They've been playing Magic like nonstop though.

If I listen to the radio it's an indie music station here called Indie 88. They play the new singles a lot. I'm not sure about the more mainstream radio though.

Only a couples of the presenters on radio 1 have been playing the new songs. ASFOS has had some airplay but nothing like what most of MX had I feel.

Magic and A Sky Full of Stars are played now on most Danish radio stations plus Magic is played a lot now on the music TV channels MTV, Denmark, Voice and 7. It's a lovely video.

I am in doubt: Will there be now video for A Sky Full of Stars?

I've been noticing this in Canada too. I haven't heard Magic or ASFOS. It was the same with the singles from MX. I don't understand why they're not being played because their last two albums have been so pop radio station friendly. ASFOS should be a HUGE radio hit.

I've given up on Radio in Toronto. They only play the same three songs over and over and over and over and over... You get the point. I think I've only heard magic once. I've never heard any MX playings either. Nothing is playing recently from their older albums, and I haven't heard Viva la Vida since more than a year ago. Why? Why does the radio suck so much. It's all Happy, that John Legend song, and Calvin Harris. That's it. That is the whole radio in Toronto.... Uuggghhhh

It takes time to produce a good radio station, you cant change it over night to good if its a bad radio station and you dont have a full say on it either because its their own choices so its out of full control to any public

If it was really me in control i'd say what do you want depending on whom? then I'd ring in and say wake up..

But your never yourself:cool: unless you are you...

here in Halifax (Canada) I only know of one station - Radio 96.5- that plays Coldplay. They offered the contest to see Coldplay at the Beacon in May. They play Magic a lot but I'm yet to hear ASFOS

We're a small country and we only have one radio station that can be considered as "alternative", they focus on quality in different genres and never play the really mainstream music.

They used to like Coldplay up to Viva, played the new singles as well as old songs all the time, at least one song every day.

Then MX came out, they played ETIAW twice, Paradise a few times and POC just to mock them...

Now, they played Magic maybe three times and that's it. I don't expect them to play ASFOS at all.

It makes me sad.

I know Magic is being played here on mainstream stations a lot...
