some basic info taken from their forum site....

where did the bands name come from?

the band were originally called polarbear unaware there was already a band going by that name. so when the scary legal people came to shout at them and take the name away, they dedcided to call themselves snow patrol- a name made up by one of gary and marks absent minded friends in a previous conversation.

 

so theyve been around for a while then?

yes, almost ten years now and they have three albums,

*songs for polarbears (1998, jeepster)

*when its all over we still have to clear up (2001, jeepster)

*final straw (2003,polydor)

 

where are they from?

gary, nathan, mark, and jonny and from belfast and tom (thats the keyboard player by the way) is from dundee. (NOTE: gary and mark are from bangor- thats for all the fussy people)

 

so how did they all meet?

gary and mark met at uni, unaware that they use to go to school just down the road from each other. they then found jonny who use to play for another band, and a few years later kidnapped nathan from hmv.

 

how old are the guys

as far as im aware tom and jonny are 32, mark and gary are 28 and nathan is the baby at 24.

 

and whats all this about a reindeer section?

gary also has a side project called the reindeer section which was an idea he came up with when drunk at a lou barlow gig. a collection of scottish bands including members of arab stap, belle and sebastian, terra diablo, astrid, teenage fanclub, idlewild and loads more.
