Snow Patrol learn on the job

Snow Patrol are writing the soundtrack for a new movie called 'Love and Hate' - a low budget British film set in a Northern town.

It's a love story between a boy from a racist family who falls in love with a Muslim girl and may be screened at the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Gary from the band admits writing for films is all new to him:

"It's a lot different because you're obviously writing for somebody else's visions or emotions."

"You have to try and not be yourself in some ways, but stamp your own identity on it in others."

"I'm just learning as I go along, which I didn't tell people when they asked me!"

"It's very different and something I'd always wanted to do as films are my second love - after music - in case any one was confused!.
