yeah, i was thinking that too, but i think it also has a lot to do with where you go to school and who your friends are, and moses and apple are so young that they don't spend a lot of time in school. anyway, it's not like we're ever going to know :P. i highly doubt chris would be too keen on letting them do interviews :lol:

 

i talked funny even when i got back from living in holland, and that was just for the summer :P. i'm going to sound like a riot after england for a YEAR!

I heard that good singers should not sing with an accent at all. As an example, Missy Higgins sings with an obvious Aussie accent.

I know, it's always puzzled me with the Beatles, too... But see, it's not like Americans would suddenly start singing with a British accent, so why the other way around? :stunned:

I think it's the same thing with quebecer (?) singers. When they sing, they 'loose' their accent and sound like french ...

Haha, yeah when I lived in Cambridge over the summer, I was SO mocked when I came home! I had picked up all of the slang and was speaking kinda oddly :uhoh:

 

 

I have this horrible tendency to start speaking in a manner similar to how I'm being spoken to. Like, if someone speaks to me in slightly broken English, I'll do the same.

Or any little unique things about how certain people talk...I just start speaking back to them in the same way within minutes. and I'm NOT trying to mock them, it just comes out and I can't really control it. It's also not that I'm some expert with accents, I'm definitely not. So when I spent 5 hours in England a few years ago when I was waiting to catch another flight, I had to keep consciously telling myself NOT to speak with a British accent because I knew everyone would be able to tell I was North American and I'd look like a fool lol. But God it was hard not to.

off topicccc but i have always wondered what british people and other foreign think of an american accent i feel like you can't really interpret it... its just kinda bland at least i feel it its.... someone help me out who is from england!:laugh3:

it took me living in another country to realize that the american accent isn't just a lack of accent. we have a very specific way of saying letters like "a" and "r" and certain types of "e's"...its really hard to explain, but that's the jist of the actual accent itself. then there's the issues of intonation and pronunciation...:lol:

 

i had never noticed american accents before until i just heard dutch and british accents for months...on the rare occasion i heard american accents, it really threw me off!

When I interned at Apple Corps, after a full day of work amongst an entirely British group of people, I'd come home and stare at my mom like :stunned: because I thought she sounded weird :P

 

More randomness: You know the very first page of this thread? Does anyone still have those school pictures of Chris? I'd love to see/laugh at them :)
