Fresh from selling out V and adding to their legendary festival performances, The Killers will be headlining Hard Rock Calling on Friday 26 June. Joining them as very special guests at this prestigious festival and kicking off the Festival in extraordinary style are The Kooks.

It's so appropriate for a Las Vegas band. I love it, too.

The Killers are desperate for some time out – or they might end up killing one another.

 

The Las Vegas-based band have been pushed to the limit by the pressure of being constantly on the road.

 

After seven years of making sweet music together, all you can now hear is the sound of squabbling.

 

Desperate to save the band, yet “sick of the sight of each other”, the boys are in talks with management and lawyers to sort out a break.

 

Problem is, the earliest they can take time off is in 2010!

 

The Killers are currently touring Australia and New Zealand. And this summer they will play at Rockwave in Athens, B’est Fest in Bucharest, Spain’s Benicassim and our very own T In The Park and V festivals. Plus, they announced yet another British gig yesterday, at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park in June. Phew!

 

Cracks began to show within the rock four-piece when they came to England in February.

 

The in-fighting got so bad that singer Brandon Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr and bassist Mark Stoermer, couldn’t even bear to travel to their gig at London’s 02 Arena together. A band insider tells us: “They’re exhausted. They haven’t had a break since they first formed and it has started getting to them.

 

“When they started out they were all good friends, but they just don’t seem to get on any more. They are sick of the sight of each other.

 

“Brandon tries to be a peacemaker but when he loses it the whole band falls apart. They know taking a break could damage their career but they can’t see a way out and they don’t want to split.”

 

Since they formed in 2002, The Killers have wowed us with three albums – including newie Day & Age – and won the NME’s Best International Band award. But all that work has left the lads precious little “me time”.

 

Last night a spokesman insisted that the band were fine and said they don’t plan as far ahead as 2010. Hmm, we’re getting our tickets now.

The fact that they quoted a so-called "band insider" as their only real source gives me the right to remain a skeptic.

 

Admittedly, they've released material fairly close together. But obviously they plan out their time.

Plus, the Killers never started out as "good friends." The Killers formed in response to a newspaper advertisement, and they were not "pals" going in. Brandon has commented several times that they have only gotten to know each other in the time SINCE they have been a band.

The Killers are coming to Poland and I'm sooooo happy. I found out about it today. They will be performing at Coke Live Music Festival. Yay!!! I'm there!

Haha...I saw that too. The funny thing is that they have listed This Is Your Life as the 12th most played song on their website (up from 27th last week). It looks like they had already made up their mind without the vote.

I saw them last week. They were amazing. They played my 2 favorites...Smile Like You Mean It and For Reasons Unknown. Most TK fans are so focused on Brandon but I've fallen in love with Dave Keuning...I guess because I play guitar. I love his solos, his personality & especially his hair. Two girls have started a myspace page about Dave's hair. LOL

It would've been the best concert this year...if I weren't going to Coldplay.
