The Offical "The Killers" Thread

here's a good version of The killers, Coldplay and Bono doing All these things...

it's the best version I have seen out there in terms of clarity and closeness of zooming.. A little shaky but very watchable.

Killers to headline V Festival

Mar 1 2009 by Ben Goldby, Sunday Mercury

AMERICAN rock superstars The Killers are set to headline this year’s V Festival in Staffordshire.

Although organisers have yet to finalise the list of band’s playing at Weston Park in August, the Las Vegas chart-toppers have confirmed they will be topping the bill.

The news follows The Killers’ two sell-out nights at Birmingham’s LG Arena last week, reviewed on Page 8 of today’s Preview pullout.

“We’ve come a long way since we played the Academy in Birmingham,” said frontman Brandon Flowers.

The V Festival annuals attracts tens of thousands of fans from all round the world, and this year runs on August 22 and 23.

The full line-up is expected to be announced tomorrow and is likely to include superband Coldplay, the reunion of Britpop legends Blur, Leicester stadium rockers Kasabian, and Scottish indie favourites Franz Ferdinand. Tickets go on sale from 10am next Friday.

Ooh V fest :sweatdrop:

Killers and Coldplay and Blur! Amazing if true :stunned:

Just this past week I bought and have been absolutely obsessed with 'Day & Age'. To say the least, I'm really impressed! Especially by Human, Spaceman, Dustland Fairytale, This is your life, I can't stay, and the epic Goodnight, travel well.

I also think Flowers gets WAY too much flak for his lyrics. If anything what's he's expressing is too deep for some people to figure out. So many people don't realize that 'dancer' is a play on the usage of the word 'human', and that at a closer look, the lyrics are everything but nonsense. There are so many serious themes in the songs disguised behind catchy pop, arrangements. Human, to me, seems deals with devotion, faith and the vital things that keep us human. Spaceman is about optimism/pessimism following attempted suicide, dustland fairytale is his parent's life story, 'This is your life' isabout prostitution, I can't stay is about an affair, and goodnight is about his own struggle and acceptance of his mother's cancer and the inevitability of death.

Exactly exactly exactly x1,000. I'm so tired of people constantly questioning him about the meaning behind his lyrics... it's like people are digging too far into them. Some of them are extremely simple and perfect just like that, and some of them are very deep but don't necessarily need figuring out. I think it's time someone just listened to the music and enjoyed it without trying to over analyze and criticize every single line in a Killer's song.

^ there are people still wondering what "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" means

two weeks till I see them again

awesome :bomb: can't wait to see them live again!

Min so you finally decided to go..woohooo great choice :D

lol.

Well the meaning isn't necessarily in the actual words, but the way they're expressed in the context of the song. A sensation of having as of yet, unrealized potential. Notice how easily inspiring that bridge of the song is. The feeling isn't taken from the lyrics themselves, but the relatable sensation that everyone knows they're expressing.

I am so glad to hear people saying this about the lyrics, and also praising their new album. I seem to hear bad feedback about it all the time and I don't get it! It's such a great collection of songs... I absolutely love LOVE "This is the World We Love In" and "I Can't Stay", "Joy Ride", and "This Is Your Life". Sooooooo good. The lyrics feel like they really cut deep for me, but I guess some people don't like things that make any emotional sense at all...

^^

people find it hard to accept it when bands make a drastic change to their sound. they reject the album simply because its not like their early work. in the case of the killers alot of the backlash had to do with the fact that the band no longer possessed the fist pumping energetic indie rock they had on their first two records. but that was not the reason i disliked it, for me it had more to do with the lack of musicianship on the album. with the first 2 i was really impressed by the guitar riffs and drum work but with Day&Age i heard almost none of that rather it was replaced by extra instruments and over the top production. nonetheless brandon pulls off a great vocal performance.

 I'm soooo excited :D

If you want some hints about how to meet them just ask, I'm an expert now

Never say never :smug:..last year I got to meet them at a Festival in Hungary, just go around were the backstage is, you may find some of them willing to sign things if they see some fans there, Dave came and then one of their roadies gave us a pass for the vip lounge, where we met also Mark and Ronnie (no Brandon as he had run back to the hotel to take a sleep since he had an early flight to Dublin to meet his wife and baby).

Awww sounds cool!!!!!! VIP lounge

I'll just walk around the place to try my luck :D A friend once got a photo with Brandon @ a festival because he was walking around in the crowd checking out the other bands

I would love to meet them :nice:

See I'm not the only who met them at a Festival, your chances are still on :D

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :nice:

Ok, how do you do it, girl???:stunned: Is there any one you CAN'T meet?!? (Will, The Killers-->me jealous & amazed:D) You have great karma or something!

Thanks :nice:

I've never gotten any luck with the bands I like yet though  I hope it's different this time around.

When you were at the festival you went to, did they play a full set?

Yes they played their entire set at the festival, they were the headliners. I'm qute sure they're gonna play the entire set at V too, they're not playing any other concert in Australia apart from festivals and it would be sad if they only played the short one.

I'm practising with them cause I need to meet U2, they're quite difficult to meet, especially before or after gigs :disappointed:

But The Killers are quite easy to meet, if you read their official board you will realize nearly anyone waiting for them after their concerts got to meet them. Are you planning to see them? If yes then go on the back of the venue and wait, they may take 1-2 hours to come out, but unless they're tired or for other strange reasons they will stop and take pics with fans, they usually never do runners after the shows
