Finally got to listening to my Notebook edition cd. Can anyone tell me what ALiEN HiTS/ALiEN RADiO is supposed to be on this??? It doesn't sound like the album version at all. But I love this strange version and I would like to know if there is a demo of that version (even if under a different title) and if there is, could someone send it to me?

There's no mystery behind it: Coldplay are a 27 year-old band of late 40s men, they're not marketable in the current musical landscape. Parlophone, Phil, etc. knew getting a hit single would be difficult, so all efforts were centered around the album as a whole to get more consistent numbers and boost their public image/career achievements. Also, we need to remember that the band are entering legacy act territory at this point, so it's important to have a good first week, because the general public don't really pay attention to what happens on the charts afterwards (for the better or worse).

P.S.1. QVC was fun, I hope they do it again.

P.S.2. They own all of their masters starting from MOTS, so Parlophone gets a much smaller cut for new releases.

Sort of. I don't think I've listened to the voice memo of it yet, but if it's anything like Two Aliens crudely tacked onto the end of Jupiter it won't count as a proper release of it.

Update: I've listened to it and it's barely Love in a Lethal Dose. I can hear a faint element of it but it's unlike any previous leak of the song.

It is weird that 2 Aliens got the OG "Arabesque" treatment, espescially since the demo version featured a nice verse from SZA.

Still clinging to hope that one day we get a big release of demos which may include those collaborations. Or it's possible Coldplay this time around is teasing us about MOTS Vol. 3, which could be a b-sides release featuring Rainbow tracks, 2 Aliens, Earthling (PLEASE!!!), The Only One, UFO II.

I think if you listen again to Alien Hits/Alien Radio voice memo it is actually linked to The Astronaut - it's quite similar and from memory it's in the same key. So Angel Song feels related to the astronaut. I love how songs are connected to each other! 

Maybe the 🌈 voice memo is another preview for the next album? Chris mentioned this in the Zane Lowe interview and this voice memo is the only one that has nothing to do with the original song. There is definitely a Love In A Lethal Dose part in there and it sounds amazing IMO. If that song ends up on the next album in this version, it can't come soon enough...

Is it normal that the Moon Music cd I bought from the Coldplay store has not arrived yet? It says on the 4th it was already on its way...

I meant to say of all the slow songs that came out in the last 10 years, Green Eyes is better.

Does Ghost Stories count in the last 10 years (like it was 2014 but it came out mid 2014) because if so I completely disagree with that assessment. If not then I still disagree but not nearly as much (the slow songs are about the level of green eyes for me which is really good but not straight up masterpieces like some of the older ones)

interesting the memo for the digital version is a short inst demo of neon forest, so i really wonder what the CD version is

It's hard to understand why they organized such an important launch so poorly. They should have the logistics for the CDs to arrive the week of the launch...

Green Eyes is an ok song by their standards, I have it into higher consideration because of the amazing album it is included in, but it´s not one of their best at all, imo. Since Ghost Stories, they´ve done at least five better ballads (True love, Oceans, Daddy, Crycrycry, Everyday Life, and Coloratura of course).

It isn‘t the same? Then it has to be for the next album. Glad they actually released something unique for the special edition, unlike MOTS.

the problem with this is that in the past the album leaked from this happening. (yet, this didn't matter because it leaked anyways LMAO)

It always ends up leaking. It's inevitable nowadays I think hahaha

Anyway, I received the CD this morning. It's been late! The notebook edition is quite nice. I hope they release more material in these weeks... maybe an EP for Christmas?

By the way, I was looking at the notebook edition book and "FNRDZ" appears several times in the song list. Do you know what it could be? It seems like the only song that fell off the tracklist. Could it be another aggregation of various mid-instrumental/alternative tracks like Alien Hits?

I am very struck by the fact that Man in the Moon and Karate Kid do not appear at any point in the tracklist. It seems that they were never considered to be part of the album, which seems like a waste to me, because they are one of the best songs of this era.
