I've wanted to get the music box for Tracy by Mogwai. The description of the Moon Music one is vague, so I have no idea what song from the album it'll be.

I was hoping for a full EP, but I take Shine On as additional song any day.

While I fully agree with you that an EP is unlikely, they have literally 100's of songs from the last 2 eras that are still being actively worked on, so I don't get the 'why would they spend songs' thing

Why "accidentally"?

Just an assumption because I haven't seen it anywhere else so I thought Tidal made it public sooner than it was supposed to.

Well, Spotify also has a new Christmas Lights single with AML on it, seems like they're just doing extra promo for the song this year. Why? who knows, it's coldplay, they do weird shit like this all the time

And there's a PNAU remix of ALLMYLOVE released on today.

Ok, so on the Christmas Moon Edition, there's only Christmas Lights added, no Shine on... Bummer...

We didn't get any announcements about full moon edition, so that's just not true.

Eh we'll see but if the Christmas Moon Edition is just literally Christmas Lights then I'm starting to feel like this is Coldplay's most cynical era in terms of sheer marketing.  Full Moon was fun and gave us some new tracks, but it was nothing close to what you'd expect from most other major artists. Plus they made the CD dirt cheap on Amazon and Target to boost sales, it's very clear that their record label had a strategy to get them to #1. 

But releasing a Christmas Edition that's literally not different at all would be completely absurd and depressing, especially coupled with a song that's 14 years old. We know (from recent leaks) that they have a huge backlog of great b-sides -- at least make our streaming and purchasing time worth it.

If you liked that mix you might like the one I did after the album was actually released. In it the Neon Forest chorus repeats (as it should) and I used the full length Angelsong (from the Full Moon edition). I removed the spoken word bit and the Karate Kid intro sample, but that's just personal preference. This version goes for 7:51, but my dream is to one day have enough pieces released/leaked to edit together a Coloratura length Rainbow. 

 

 

Excellent remix! I agree about the spoken parts (I am not very fond of them). Now, if only you could add the "wedding bells" part at the end of Neon Forest and just before Angelsong, that would be the perfect one for me... Can't complain, though!!

Thoughts on the new All My Love video? It's like Johnny Cash's Hurt, but the happy uplifting version which is somehow possible. 

I really liked the Old Age song at the end, I thought it was quite sweet. The video did come across as an obituary for a man that's still alive though.

It was a surprise drop but it still had an announcement after the songs came out, this one didn't and it's only on Tidal.

The promotion for All My Love clashed with Christmas so it makes sense to market the two songs together, the band are not going to release another holiday track just for the sake of narrative when they already have a classic rising every year on the charts. Also, I don't see what you mean about Full Moon not being good enough, Ariana Grande's deluxe was just live versions and Charli XCX had remixes, which this fandom famously hates... Surely you're not talking about Taylor Swift and her extra contents right? As a swiftie myself, the only thing The Anthology did was making TTPD a bloated mess.

As for their label pushing the album hard, I need people here to remember that being a musician is still a job. Coldplay have a brand to maintain and so does their partners. Moon Music was the only #1 record from Atlantic in the US this year.
