  1. Liberty leading the people is art in the public domain. It is unsurprising that more than one artist has taken it up...and it's certainly not plagarism. And even if it was, who's going to win that argument? Obscure Japanese band or Coldplay and EMI's mighty lawyers? :P
  2. They didn't remove all the bigger songs. My impression was that they removed some so that there were LESS bigger songs. Clearly, there are anthems - Violet Hill's riff is anthemic as is the "If you love me, won't you let me know?" refrain. It will be sung to the rafters at gigs and Viva la Vida? Don't get me started on how amazing it's going to be to hear Chris tackle that live and have people singing along. They're big songs. They're just not overpowering. The idea of Viva the album seems to be that there are 10 equally brilliant songs, just in different, more subtler ways!
  3. I think the whole Revolutionaries look when the album is about Revolution, war, soldiers etc is really cute. And Chris has finally found clothes that make his hair look less scruffy! Ps. is it just me or is Guy wearing a hooped earring?!
  4. Reminds me of Talk, hahahaa! Or a write a song nobody has sung or do Something that's never been done ... They certainly have!
  5. As you've already said, mate. Such pessimism, give VLVADAAHF a chance, you've heard two songs and another that wasn't even good enough for the album!
  6. Sums up my views perfectly.
  7. Oh no! The ending of Coldplay! You are such a wise and learned person to be able to make that decision after THREE SONGS. Seriously, man, take your doom and gloom elsewhere or at least hold out until you have heard the album all the way through, unless you're psychic you have no idea what it could contain and are not qualified to be making such statements, I'm sorry!
  8. Oh my, Viva la Vida is GORGEOUS. Totally different, even down to Chris' voice, but I just love it. The contrast between this and Violet Hill makes me SO happy because it confirms my belief that this is going to be one very interesting album!
  9. Thankyou SO much JPW! I love the Kwik Save quip. Saddens me a bit that they don't like X&Y anymore, though, I've had it on in the car for the first time in a while today and it's reminded me how ace it is, shame they don't feel the same way!
  10. Oh man, if I had my headphones right now. I'm soooo excited! Thankyou Coldplayers for finding this!
  11. Don't you worry, wait til Viva la Vida comes out, THEN make your decision. I remember feeling this way when Speed of Sound came out. Good song, but not BRILLIANT. Then, X&Y came out. Top class album. I have every confidence there will be something for you on Viva la Vida, so chill til then!
  12. Not a fan, but as people have said, only a B Side, and I'm in love with Violet Hill, so still a happy CP fan!
  13. (Go to the Coldplay Multimedia section and download it, twistedCLOCKS! It was on UK Radio earlier tonight...)
  14. Shiver Violet Hill (by a nose) In My Place Speed of Sound (I loved it but it's the least impressive of the four to me)
  15. I'm holding out on a verdict as from the 30 seconds we've heard I'm not that impressed but there's no context, it could be better, it could be worse. If it's better, I'll be thrilled, because I love VH and two free grade A songs speak volumes about the album content :)
  16. I'm not entirely sure I like it but we'll see.
  17. Not sure about the hill being turned violet by blood, since red and white make pink, however, otherwise, good interpretation.
  18. Yes we get it you don't like it, please stop making threads about it now.
  19. I think it's something to do with either the browser or the email provider because I got the password request in Hotmail on IE and had a bit of a panic, but when trying it in Firefox from Gmail, presto!
  20. People are going to rip A Spell A Rebel Yell? Oh win! I need something to feed my addiction now VH has got me off the wagon, haha!
  21. Oh my word, as several other people have said, who really cares? I'm sure there are bits of VH that do seem a bit wrong, but they're not, doubtlessly they're written that way and to be honest they don't sound half bad, I think they add to the rawness of the track. And at the end of the day, it's a free track, the first in 3 years, so it's not going to be mindblowingly perfect, but it's the first track in THREE YEARS, Chris could sing Baa Baa Black Sheep and the majority of us would buy it because it's the way he does it!
  22. I think I'm probably on listen 15 now (would be more if I'd not been to work for 7 hours, scary!) and I still love it. Even my Coldplay hating boyfriend admits it's "quite good" so they must have done well, because he usually turns the radio over whenever a Coldplay song comes on!
  23. Hahaha that's ace, he said that? LMAO. He DID say something about Violet Hill being unlocked from a diamond incrusted case, mind. He's a very funny bloke. All I can say to them is thankyou.
