  1. The crowd are utterly amazing, but the band (well, Chris) really haven't made the most of it...
  2. I honestly think it has the potential to be, yes, but it'll take at two or three years (for me at least) to have any idea I reckon.
  3. I always find them best when there's pressure on them to put in a special performance. That edge seems to drive Chris, and he's the ringleader of course. They didn't (and / or couldn't) work the crowd for The Scientist and ENL tonight, but then, while it was a great version of ENL, they didn't even try at the end there. Considering the scale and importance of the gig, I think Glastonbury will go down as one of their greatest ever performances (it was certainly the best performance I've ever seen or heard from them) - and if it's ever beaten it'll only be at Glastonbury, and I'll be very very surprised. All imvho :) <edit> They just neglected the end of Viva too - they should really be milking these moments I reckon. The crowd were well up for a big singalong!
  4. I think when people were asking around the Bakery and at the Exeter gig for Shiver, they were told that was the song that Guy refused to play again (might be mistaken but think that's right). Then we had the acoustic versions at Liverpool and Newcastle (sans Guy :P). I thought Glastonbury was just a one-off as full-band because it was the first song they ever played at Glasto, but obviously not :) Thanks, hope they play it again too - it looks like the same setlist as Glasto, can't see it being changed before this weekend :)
  5. I thought they'd never persuade Guy to play Shiver beyond Glastonbury, amazing  Wonder how long it'll last on the setlist though... Great stuff :) Where are her and Frida? The bass isn't that loud here. <edit> It is now on Violet Hill - very loud!!
  6. The stream's been good up to now, but is now all over the place... Anyone spotted any Coldplaying folk? Haven't seen Anna or Frida in the front rows (yet).
  7. Miller having fun :P Can anyone tell me the setlist so far? I forget if it's not posted every few posts, thanks!! :laugh3:
  8. Instinct tells me this is true, and if so it is both an awesome name, and awful news that that dire track MM will be on LP5 :laugh3: /snuggles up to pillow, and drifts off to sleep :)
  9. I wanna see a collab with the Ozric Tentacles :beatnik:
  10. Thank goodness!
  11. Jo (I think) asked him about the Coldplay cover and he said something along the lines of 'they play and write the most beautiful and fantastic music...the way they play...just unbelievable' (of course I paraphrase but that was more or less it :)). At the end he had to stop himself...said something like 'I better stop there...' Full of admiration :)
  12. I wish they'd play it a bit straighter these days (more normal-structure songs), much as I love IUAtW, HLH and CB.
  13. Bono just praising Coldplay to high heaven in the post-gig interview on BBC 2 (also Primal Scream, but less so)
  14. No. She was joking AGAINST the team. It's irony (very British). They knew she adores Coldplay. That was the joke.
  15. I've followed U2 on and off for about twenty five years...thought it was a bit lame, but things don't always carry properly on TV :\ She was joking about Coldplay ;)
  16. Don't worry, I can laugh about it...as long as he doesn't EVER do it again :laugh3:
  17. Nice to hear, but Bono lost the words (and not for the first time tonight!) Big pressure on the boys tomorrow night...
  18. The 'fucking ship' nonsense. Ruins the whole song for me, and is deadly embarrassing - trying to be a Gallagher and failing utterly; even pond scum could do a more convincing impression (whatever 'pond scum' are - but it sounds good!) It makes me cringe, embarrassed to be a fan, and not want to see them live again (seriously - it's rotten).
  19. Thanks, and apologies on that point to John. I missed that post - although I had thought I'd looked very carefully. I'd edit my own post to reflect that, but you've quoted it. I still don't like this, not one bit: 1) Where's the guarantee of that happening? 2) Members here working to try to up the price for anyone, let alone a brand new poster that no-one knows. A full, guaranteed, charity auction, certainly - of course! But this site has never been about others working to up a price for any sort of personal profit as far as I remember. I won't come back to this thread, probably - I have very little time to post on here at all. If John can satisfy my serious concerns he can get in touch via PM and I will of course come back and post that I was wrong. In the meantime, I'm happy to be better safe than very sorry.
  20. So, what happened to giving money from the sale to charity? I'm really shocked to see you (and possibly others) promoting this for the seller across the internet, so he can get more for it (especially considering the point I've already made). A brand new member without any previous posting history comes on here, makes multiple threads initially about selling the same item (nice though it is, if genuine*), posts about donating to charity and then drops the subject, starts talking about what a nice luxury trip he hopes to get, and then other members start doing promotional work across the web to raise the price for him? WTF?!!! * I have no idea about this, so I'm just saying.
  21. I completely understand this type of point of view :) But for me, we know the band has had a hard time keeping together over the years. They've only managed it by almost breaking up on a number of occasions, and then at last coming together stronger and more united than before. A large part of that seems to have been because they found a way to bond more strongly. In the Viva era it's so obvious how they did it - the costumes, the theme, the vision, the 'the whole world is against us let's show them what we can do!' spirit. And how did that turn out? Incredibly, if you ask me! It's not my favourite album of theirs, or my favourite tour in some senses. I preferred the vibe and setlists during ARoBtTH and even Twisted Logic slightly (I wasn't lucky enough to see them on Parachutes). Did it do some things better than previous tours? You betcha - it did a lot! It was more theatrical (in a good way), more cohesive, more varied, and much more consistent in quality. The boys looked like they were having the most fun ever since I first saw them in 2003. As far as I'm concerned they were enjoying it, for the first time, just as much as the crowd. I pretty much hated Violet Hill the first twenty or thirty times I listened to it. It was too short, too different, too 'un-Coldplay'. Finally it broke through and I began to love it. Once I 'got' it I've loved it every single time I've heard it more and more, each time, and that never stops. The Viva costumes? They made me sick at first - what nonsense was this? It was only seeing them live for the first couple of times - with the theme, their vision, their entourages' vision, their attitude, and their love for the music from everything they played all the way down to the clothes they wore - that everything fell into place. And I absolutely loved it! The biggest band in my life just became an awful lot bigger in my eyes, even if some of the old songs were better than some of the new album. Not much of VLV is 'classic' Coldplay to me now, though I still love it dearly and always will. 42, Violet Hill, DaAHF (live version), LiJ are standouts. The others all range from 'great' to 'very good'. There are no bum notes at all, for me. Lost was lots of fun live (and great for the mood!) LiT an incredible starter, and led on to the lovely LiTii, and Viva? Not my favourite song ever by them...again it took me many many listens to even accept it as - but when I did - oh boy!! And live? WOW... Now we approach a new album. We have the guys again taking on a band identity with a group clothing theme. What did Viva teach me? Trust them on it! What else do I know? They might even not be together right now even making music if it wasn't for having this kind of band identity! Lyrics? I don't care much. They've always been a mixed bag for me right from the band's start but they always fit the music, and never take away from it. More usually they add to it, greatly, and mostly you anyway would never have one without the other. The artwork? I think it's cool enough, it's different from anything they've done before. Again, I'll trust them on it! Someone posted that street art shouldn't be done by anyone who's not working class. Perhaps that poster should get in touch with privately-educated Banksy and tell him that?! That's one of the most discriminatory things I've read recently, across a number of sites. And judging or even worrying about the music music based on artwork? I'm stunned. I'm not aiming this post at anyone at all, and certainly not Chelsea whose post I quoted - it was just a starting-out point for me for a few thoughts :) Everyone has a right to an opinion, everyone has a right to worry before the new music hits us. I'm just a bit surprised and sad that so many very negative views have been expressed. Perhaps - just a thought - that reflects more about the posters than the band (?) Personally Coldplay have never let me down in the greater sense of things. Every album's brought new favourites. Every tour's been better, bigger, and brighter than the last. Every time I've worried about clothing or other such things they've proved me wrong, and themselves right. And it's all happening soon! Bring it on I say, I'm ready for it all!! :sunny:
  22. Happy birthday Sof!! :sunny:
  23. It looks scary to me, not 'harmless' at all.

There's no point talking to people like this. I'm only quoting them in case they decide to edit their posts before the mods can look at them. Nothing more to say. /Gone from disgustingly insensitive thread.

With the events in Japan right now, are you seriously asking about whether a gig will go ahead?????
