  1. That might be my favorite song in their catalog. Just brilliantly beautiful.
  2. Agree. The first time I listened to Viva I had some pretty big criticism. And unlike past albums Viva has failed to grow on me. When I listen to it (and its admittedly rare) I still find the same glaring issues. As you mentioned no cohesion. I do not like the muffled vocals, and there is no flow to the record. The lyrics took a big dip in quality and lost that personal element. And on several tracks it seems Martin has designed them specifically to be a sing along, and having written them with that idea in mind, they just come off forced and disingenuous. And for the first time, I really felt like the band was trying to sound like U2, a band I personally have never enjoyed. I really see the same issues popping up in these new tracks. Clearly even in the best sounding ones, the lyrics have taken a hit, they are even worse than the Viva lyrics. And once again I feel a lack of cohesion, and many of these songs just scream U2. This doesn't feel like a natural flowing evolution of a band, it feels like a band desperate to be different and forcing out a sound they don't sound confident in, which results in poorer quality. Its just my opinion, but there you have it.
  3. Thank you for your post, I could not agree more. I'm more than willing to point out the exact reasons this song rubs me the wrong way. The lyrics are juvenile and a definite step backward, though unfortunately that seems to be a theme with most of the new songs. The music seems more than sampled, its nearly a direct copy, and its not pleasing to the ear, sounds like a cheap dance track from katie perry. The song goes nowhere, you keep waiting for it to take off and it just goes flat. I'm not hearing analysis like this from the people who love it so why they feel the need to brand people with a negative opinion as "not true fans" is beyond me. And no the fact that its "pop" is not a problem for me, I happen to be a fan of hanson, a pop band to the core. My problem with the song is that its "bad pop" or in other words just a bad song.
  4. Thank you! My thoughts exactly, I'm enjoying this tune at the moment, the live version anyway. Why didnt they release this first?!?!
  5. Yeah I choked when I read that line as well...
  6. I think I love you for this post. Amazing!!
  7. Well after several hours of listening, I've given it a 2, and honestly I feel that was being generous. I'm all for growth and change in a band, but I see no growth here, just changeto become more mainstream. The music is even more disappointing than the lyrics, which sound like something a fledgling to the music industry might right. Musically this is not experimental or epic, or beautiful, or really anything more than generic. I keep thinking to myself that this sounds like everything else on the radio I avoid listening to. Chris has a beautiful voice, but it cant save this song. I don't post this lightly, but I am positively gutted that they would let this get out at all. I will wait to hear the rest of the album, but honestly if this is their choice for a first single, I have very little hope of hearing anything worth listening to.
  8. Judging by lyrics alone...they are pretty on par with each other unfortunately, but I'm still hoping that the music is going to utterly blow my mind, we shall see lol.

I would say they are better than Viva outfits but overall I still find them stupid. I have no idea why they feel the need to wear costumes anyway.
  10. I on the other hand do not think this is good news.:(
  11. ha ha, that's definitely something to remember!
  12. Wow this is unexpected. I don't really see them pulling out new material without more hype, but maybe...
