  1. You forgot Rumi, the Poet, reaching out from the other side of his grave :laugh3:
  2. I need time to think about this... It's a hard choice - Fly On is a beautiful wisp of a song whereas Ghost Story has some Oldplay elements in there that I love!
  3. I don't know about anyone else, but I absolutely loove the concept for this album... I thought that was the feel they were going for with MX, I think they realised staying in rock might constrain too much, so after that they have decided to lose those rock shackles and just embrace everything they know and love, and put it together to bring through that feeling of joy, and love, and confidence / being at peace with who they are and what they've become... and best of all, they are sharing it with us! That is how they've ended up with so many people on the album - significant to them, not to music nor to us, but it's a reflection of who they are through the people in their lives. Come on people, the band, and particularly Chris are finally opening up and sharing their life and music with us, and all we can come up with is - it's the death of the band / the world, etc etc??? Don't you guys get it, they are trying to take us flying with them in their musical world... sharing their joys, influences, and happy thoughts. Come along for the ride guys - don't get left behind! They probably will eventually return to rock in 5-10 years when their children get to teenage / rebellious years and "discover" that music, but for now, it's pop and whatever else is in that album! Leave your rock behind for a few years (or stay with their old music in those years if you prefer), but heed the message - the time is in the now! Chris is feeling alive again and the whole band wants to take us there with him :D So jump up, embrace the change, and see their new world!!! :loveshower: :bliss:
  4. I don't know the band's music but Chris Martin has been referencing them for years, even sometimes as a joke since at least AROBTTH/X&Y eras... One thing's for sure, he's been listening to them for years!!
  5. Thanks for the link gai, it's good to see the man trying to answer some questions a bit more seriously...
  6. Woah! All I know is WWIII just erupted in the past 12 hours when I was away at work! All the carnage, all the splatter of emotion and hurt feelings :shocked2: Are there any survivors out there? :P I do like dissent and a good discussion but some of the comments earlier seem a bit premature... Sure be worried and concerned, but to be ultra-critical of something that has not been heard yet is surely unfair? No matter whether it turns out later to be true or false... Is there to be no fair hearing for Coldplay?
  7. Exactly what I was thinking! :jbcm: :wacky:
  8. The MV for No Surprises is just amazing! Just vs The Bends
  9. Roxette- It Must Have Been Love
  10. R.E.M. - All The Way To Reno (You're Gonna Be A Star)
  11. That is actually my definitive version of the song... it just about fits into the Parachutes album, whereas the other version comes from their earlier sound (the Ode, jangly era)... This is the version I love and adore :D I used to include it as part of my playlist for Parachutes - it's such a beautiful song!
  12. That was one of my favourite performances for many years, particularly the 4:14 part (way back when they were just starting to get the hang of rocking out)!!! :wacky:
  13. Word! We can never give up hope... And must find a way to keep on loving, respecting, and caring...
  14. Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends
  15. ^ Well if CP express a wish to make a "proper" album of serious music, with experimentation into more avant garde sounds (whatever that would be nowadays  ), and could demonstrate that they measure up to suitable standards, Radiohead might consider a collaboration if CP indicate they would like one... I think they would be able to appreciate each other as musicians with similar shared interests in music - all the members belong in bands after all, which would indicate that they can work with other people :D
  16. Karma Police vs Electioneering
  17. LMAO! That was such a good 'leak'... What a tease guys :laugh3:
  18. Dionne Warwick / Aretha Franklin- I Say A Little Prayer
  19. I hear "tr__ fall down, catch it catch it"
  20. Fly On.... Have you guys forgotten the part when Jonny kicks in and then the song just builds and soars majestically on Atlas? Fly On is beautiful too but it's a lot shorter and is less diverse
  21. Debby Boone- You Light Up My Life
  22. ^ Call it an opportunity to expand you musical boundaries :D For some reason, I never did like Fake Plastic Trees, lyrics aside... Palo Alto vs Amnesiac
  23. 15 Step vs Bodysnatchers @arushofjacktothehead - I was just about to say you have a very nice thread going there :D
