  1. And my siggy is CM's response :laugh3:
  2. Just as well I missed the period between 2008-2013 and got on with life :) Missed a lot of the hate around here... Left a few people needing songs :( and found myself a life partner :D And still didn't miss much - still got all their albums and gained some perspective, haha

I just had a look at Oasis' band history - I knew it was turbulent, but geez... they make Coldplay look like absolute angels and boring as hell :laugh3:
  4. Am I the only one here who thinks The Hardest Part vid was an interesting one - for turning the idea on what dancers can, could and should be on it's head?
  5. Thank you for holding on to that secret until it was revealed... It really would have ruined the album experience otherwise :)
  6. After getting the full lyrics, I'm appreciating the song more... It can be enjoyed on so many levels - as a groove-out disco song for pure enjoyment, as a sort of call to arms about the plight of so many women and girls in the world (Chris does it uniquely in the way only he can - always politely and not too loudly/directly in case it offends), as a song of comfort and hope for those trapped in this situation... They've done it again!
  7. Your Avatar gif has the perfect reaction :laugh3: It'll probably be all kinds of controversial in Asia... Some people may take it personally that they are comparing themselves (and thus by extension everyone else) to primates - it'll be as bad as the creationist vs evolution controversy in the West... And I thought True Love was controversial (for them anyway)... Hope they're prepared for reactions :shocked2:
  8. Chris has done it again guys! He's inserted ambiguity and opacity even in his more direct lyrics... Google 'Umi name' - it's got multiple meanings in multiple languages - sea in Japanese (female), servant (boy) and born of my mother (girl) in some African languages, life (boy) in Egyptian. Knowing Chris I'm sure he chose the name for its multiple interpretations and meanings... It can also mean mother in Arabic, and Ummi has multiple Islamic meanings - those unschooled/ illiterate, persons who have not received God's word... In a way, it refers to people who are less fortunate. And I'm sure the bit about holding up half the sky refers to girls... It gives some meaning to his recent trips and work in India, and he has lately been emphasising girls and education for global development too :) All up, the song serves a dual purpose rather nicely I think - reminding us about the importance of girls as half the world's population, particularly in less developed countries (Asia, Africa), but also giving a bit of personal meaning/ connection if you're a girl (or even boy) growing up / having a history in one of those countries- it's a song about empowering yourself in a non-bitter way, and not giving up hope... What a deep song!
  9. Hmm, tough one this, between Atlas and Midnight... I vote Midnight... Again, not because of technical reasons but because I've got less of a musical/ emotional connection to it. Midnight probably required more work from the band but Atlas sounds more "Coldplay"
  10. Finally, we're down to the half of the album where it's getting hard to choose.... Btw, thanks for waiting, I'm glad I got to squeeze into this round :) I vote All Your Friends... It's a pretty good and unique song, particularly the 'Open Fiiiree' bit tied together with the little sound explosion and emotion that goes with it at the end of the song, but it's the one left that touches me least emotionally (i.e. I like it the least), probably because some bits feel discordant
  11. Lenny Kravitz - Again
  12. Shirley Bassey - Diamonds Are Forever:D
  13. Phil Collins - Another Day In Paradise
  14. oops you're right, I forgot the tidal one was this Friday (i.e. Next week in my jumbled head) vs next month... It's been one of those weeks for me :P But still, I think there is a special significance to them playing that gig on the night before they release their album... My guess is they will do something special for this particular occasion. Besides, not everyone will have access to Tidal (unless they then YouTube it later or something)
  15. Well that will probably the first time they debut hopefully most (if not all) their new songs... And play it live. That's big news to me...
  16. Currently live if the other link won't open soon... http://www.australianliveradio.com/nova969.m3u
  17. This is the link posted by jc90 - there is a mp3 audio at the end of the first post that has good quality AOAL, then Amazing Day, Clocks and ASFOS... Amazing Day really does sound decent in that one - Chris sounds better and the musicianship is sharper... guitar lines are tidied up. The song sounds majestic!
  18. True Love... Sorry missed the last round, damn!
  19. My guess is someone will have recorded it and will upload to YouTube soon - best chances there!
  20. @AMDB9 I'm watching it on https://tvplayer.com/watch - I already have Smarty DNS though (you can get a free 14 day trial on it :) ) - just google "smarty DNS" - doesn't take long to set up. Yay, Australian band... 5 seconds of summer (or 5SOS as they are known here) :D @cp3176, change your resolution - it becomes much less laggy
  21. Don't quote me on this, but my guess is towards the end (ie at the end of the hour) to close the show
  22. I bet some Oldplayers want something that sounds like the Maccabees :) That's the Britpop sound... they might have continued it except they are more US-influenced now - blame it on Gwyneth and all the resulting friends
