'I looked like Nana Mouskouri' admits Bono Last updated at 16:24pm on 18th October 2006 The U2 frontman admit he was a fashion disaster before hiring stylist Lola Cashman Bono admitted he looked like singer Nana Mouskouri before Lola Cashman - the stylist at the centre of a High Court battle with the band -joined the U2 team. The now immaculately turned out singer told Dublin's High Court he hired the Ms Cashman to bring some coherence to the band's look as it toured in America. As Bono faced a second day of tough cross-examination, he also came face to face with some of the band's prized possessions which have landed him in the courtroom. …

Simon Cowell: Charlotte Church has thrown it all away Last updated at 18:12pm on 18th October 2006 Simon Cowell has hit out at Charlotte Church, saying the pop star has thrown away a 'massive operatic' career. And he warned other young wannabe stars "don't go there". The outspoken TV judge told Classic FM: "She was our representative. And this was a girl who in my opinion, with a bit of training and some work, could have been a massive massive operatic star for the next few years because she's really talented," he said. "To me, it appears as if she's thrown it all away for this different career. She's crazy." The X Factor judge said he wante…

Russian site goes on offensive to deny violating copyright laws Last updated at 10:08am on 18th October 2006 The operator of a Russian website that sells music cheaply went on a media offensive to deny accusations that it violates copyrights on songs by major artists. In an online exchange with reporters, representatives from Moscow-based Mediaservices, which owns the AllofMP3.com website, said it is running a legitimate business. "The company has been unfairly characterised as a pirate website," Vadim Mamotin, the firm's director general, said through a translator. "Nothing could be further from the truth." AllofMP3.com typically charges under $1 for an ent…

Bono tells court he wants his hat back Last updated at 15:02pm on 17th October 2006 U2 frontman Bono at court U2 frontman Bono gave evidence today against his former stylist who claims a Stetson hat she tried to sell at autction was a gift from the band. Lola Cassman says she was given the hat and other memorabilia as gifts during U2's Joshua Tree tour in 1987. But the band successfully sued last year for the recovery of the hat, a pair of metal hooped earrings, a green sweatshirt and a pair of black trousers, which they said she took without permission. The stylist was ordered to return the items, estimated to be worth 5,000 euro (£3,500), to the ba…

Musical charity extravaganza Live 8 cost $14.6 million to stage leaving a profit of $4.7 million, according to figures just released. New accounts relating to the event organised by Sir Bob Geldof and U2 singer Bono to raise awareness of African poverty show the ten gigs held around the world ate up the majority of the funds raised. The concerts last year featured many of the planet’s biggest artists, including Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney and Coldplay - although the notable absence of artists of African origin drew criticism. http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news?id=23542

I really need something other than Radiohead to listen to. They seem to make all other music insignificant. Recommend me a brilliant album, give an excellent reason, and I will go listen to it. You can use this thread to recommend any albums you want to.

If any of you are looking for a new band to match the magic of U2, Radiohead, or Coldplay, then allow me to introduce you to Pilot Speed. Once you hear their music and open your heart a little, you will never look back. The Canadian quartet has produced a work of art with Into The West, their first U.S. record and second one in total—and with any luck, there will be plenty more to come. Some of you may know the band under the name Pilate, but since that name is already trademarked in the U.S, they decided (wisely) to dodge any potential lawsuits. Therefore, this past June, they renamed themselves Pilot Speed. I can assure you the band’s name will be far from your mind…

It depresses me that they're doing "good" now. Surely one of you have heard of them, the lead singer is butt ugly but wears these ripping off Stephen Tyler slit-front spandex outfits and wants to be a sex symbol. He also has incredibly high vocals (From his crotch being crushed into his suit) and plays guitar (Not impressively). And the rest of the band stand in his skinny, hairy shadow. So basically, they're a Hair Metal band. And they're afraid to admit it, claiming to be Hard Rock (I dont even know what that is anymore! Im sure they dont either). I saw them at the Wittness Festival about a year before I first saw them on TV, they were one of the first bands. …

A tribute thread to ABBA. Post here :) I'm not really the biggest fan ever, but I really appreciate too many songs I grew listening to time agoo. Songs like Chiquitita, Fernando, Mamma mia, Waterloo, Thank you for the music, I have a dream and S.O.S. (most of them translated to sweedish, spanish, italian, potuguese, french, german and russian) Made of ABBA one of the greatest musical phenomena of the 80's and 90's.

Great band, and best of all they played "Killian's Red", my fav song of theirs. Guster was the headliner, and they freaking sucked. Nada played for over an hour, Guster for played for 2 hours. I would have liked the opposite, or no Guster at all. They reminded me of a christian rock band.
