Now 'Sarf London Lily' is Queen of the Sloanes By ANGELLA JOHNSON, Mail on Sunday Last updated at 22:00pm on 4th November 2006 Lily Allen: Tatler describes the 'sarf London' pop singer as a secret Sloane This time last year she was just a 'Sarf London girl' who would have laughed at the very idea of having an army of aristocratic admirers. But Lily Allen, whose chart-topping single Smile was the sound of last summer, has notched up yet another remarkable No1 - being named by society bible Tatler as Britain's most desirable eligible woman. In her wake are a swathe of young Royals, titled beauties, supermodels and the pampered daughters of busi…

The recordings - which his second wife Heather Mills wants to use as part of her divorce claim that he was abusive towards her - were handed over to Sir Paul during an extraordinary cloak-and-dagger meeting in a Central London cafe. Sir Paul bought the tapes from literary agent Peter Cox, who made them with Linda when he…

Into the Caves - They’re reminiscent of early U2, but this Portland-based band makes a sound of their own In the 1980s, bands like U2, INXS, and Echo & the Bunnymen forged the way for epic, glimmering arena rock of the college radio sort. Their songs were memorable, they had hits on the radio played alongside Michael Jackson and Madonna, and at the time they didn’t seem that different from a whole lot of other, less popular bands who played with the same arsenal of instruments. In the 1990s, Radiohead picked up the grandeur when U2 headed down the smugly ironic highway. Radiohead added their particular suspicious, psychoanalytic, nervous-tic driven spin to t…

McCartney to tour to pay for millions in alimony by RICHARD SIMPSON Last updated at 22:43pm on 24th October 2006 Back to basics: Sir Paul is hitting the road again to pay off his divorce debts Even with the best divorce lawyers in the land, Heather Mills is never going to leave Paul McCartney on his uppers. But it seems Sir Paul - who is worth some £800 million - clearly doesn't feel his financial future is all that secure. The former Beatle has revealed to friends that he plans to spend half of next year on an extended world tour which could gross as much as £60 million. Estimates of the share of McCartney's fortune Heather may come away w…

Chris de Burgh healed my withered arm claims author By LUCRETIA MUNRO Last updated at 18:19pm on 25th October 2006 Marisa Mackle says Chris de Burgh healed her arm with his 'healing hands' When he claimed to have 'healing hands', people were understandably sceptical. But an author has stepped forward claiming she is living proof that singer Chris De Burgh can work miracles. According to Marisa Mackle, 33, De Burgh healed her arm, which was paralysed after an accident, simply by laying his hand on different areas of it. Miss Mackle, whose novels include The Mile High Guy, said the improvement was dramatic and she was immediately able to lift a…

Ice-T's album cover too raunchy for U.S. music shops Last updated at 11:34am on 25th October 2006 Too raunchy: The Ice-T album cover causing a stir in the U.S. Click enlarge for a closer look Music shops across America are refusing to stock Ice-T's new album because of the raunchy image on the cover. The 48-year-old rapper poses nude with his stripper wife Coco draped over him, barely covering his usually concealed weapon. Unless his record label places stickers over the album - which is titled Gangsta Rap and is his first in seven years - the legendary rapper faces a boycott by stores. He said: "What can I say, I have been doing these kinds o…

Okay I was just listening to a song earlier that I absolutely love, even though I was overall really disappointed with the album it came from! So I was just wondering what other suggestions people would have, when you've bought an album and been disappointed wiht most of it, but really loved one or two songs from it. I'll start it of with the BRMC album "Howl" - it's very different to their previous two albums and I really didn't like it compared to their old stuff, but I did really LOVE the title track "Howl" which I think is one of their best ever songs.

After the first airing of The Buggles' classic song Video Killed The Radio Star, the world of music changed radically. all the serious consequences are probably seen now. in 2006, when you switch on the MTV all you can see are the overrated, manufactured, voiceless teen pop idols and the mainstream indie fucks was it really a good idea starting to broadcast music videos? what's the point of these music videos and MTV anyway, aside of commercial success, artificial and temporary popularity and more money? artists like Bob Dylan or Neil Young were "killed" thank to invention of music videos. they never even had a chance to be commercialy successful after MTV has aired…

The search function only showed me a post where Declan was mentioned sometime last year, but I thought that this brilliant Irish singer/songwriter deserves a thread of his own, especially since releasing his album "Since Kyabram" this year! I saw him supporting Snow Patrol in Vienna one week ago and I fell in love with him IMMEDIATELY. I absolutely love "Your World", "No place to Hide", and... simply every single song!! I found his album at my local store (and was really surprised by that) and can't stop listening to it since buying it! I just noticed that he's got a Myspace site as well (http://www.myspace.com/declanorourke), so go there and give his songs a tr…
