Bono lets it all hang out on holiday Last updated at 15:11pm on 4th October 2006 Tum in the sun: Bono lets it all hang out as he sunbathes in Croatia We've always know he was one of the world's biggest stars. But it seems as though Bono has taken the role a bit too literally. U2's frontman and philanthropist looked decidedly podgy as he strode around in his shorts while on holiday in Croatia. The 46-year-old was relaxing in the Adriatic sunshine with his wife of 24 years, Alison Hewson, 45. Perhaps he's been indulging a little too much in the sweetest things. And it's time to get back in training for another world tour... Just…

So, thanks to iTunes, I've found another slight obsession (that's ADHD for ya!) Bettie Serveert...I know they're a Dutch band with a bit of a history, but mostly I've been listening to the song Attagirl. Is anyone else familiar with them? Any info would great!

Hello everyone, I just got my hands on the latest k-Os album "Atlantis: Hymns for Disco" and it is once again a masterpiece. For those of you who don't know k-Os (which is the case for most people outside Canada) he is an artist who has always broken down stereotypes and genre classifications. Though he's often thought of to be a rapper, his albums vary from indie rock, to blues, to michael jackson pop, to rock, to reggae. He sings, raps and plays several instruments. A few months ago he collaborated with the CBC Radio Orchestra, one of the last remaining live radio orchestras in the world, to create the song "Burning to Shine". I highly suggest getting this, you shou…

Everyone check me out at http://www.ishouldbesolucky.com/alexgladwin It is basically a site where unsigned bands and musicians can sign up and promote themselves AND put their music up for sale/download to other members of the site. So check it out and download my track! Haha, I'll be adding more on there later. Some other good unsigned bands too.

NME's poll unearths most popular dancefloor fillers Arctic Monkeys' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' has topped NME's poll to discover the most popular student anthem. The Sheffield four-piece took the top spot, fighting off stiff competition from The Killers' 'Mr Brightside' and Kaiser Chiefs' 'I Predict A Riot'. Also featured in the Top Ten were The Smiths, Franz Ferdinand and The Strokes. NME's Associate Editor Dan Silver said: "It's gratifying to see that today's students are forging their own cultural identity by adopting the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs as their top anthems. "It'll be interesting to see whether those b…

Sony bosses threaten to sack 'unpredictable' George Michael By RICHARD SIMPSON and KRISTINA PEDERSEN Last updated at 18:07pm on 2nd October 2006 This is the singer's second arrest this year on suspicion of being unfit to drive George Michael has been warned he will be sacked by his record label unless he curbs his wild behaviour. Chiefs at Sony/BMG say he must control his cannabis abuse and stop drawing unwanted attention to his private life as well as seeking help for his apparent addiction to the drug. Former Wham! singer Michael has just started a 50-date sell-out world tour - his first for 15 years - and will launch a new album commemoratin…

Melua's deep sea gig sets record The gig took place at the bottom of one of the rig's legs Singer Katie Melua has entered the record books by playing the world's deepest underwater concert. Melua and her band performed for workers on a gas rig 303 metres below sea level on the Statoil Troll oil rig in the North Sea. "This was definitely the most surreal gig I have ever done," Melua said. The 22-year-old singer underwent extensive medical tests and survival training in Norway before flying by helicopter…

For me, it's been the best year for music as long as I've been into music. I'm just listening to Jet's album on their myspace. It's amazing. I love it. But it's not like it's a great album amongst loads of poor ones. This summer has been brilliant for music. The Strokes started it off for me in January with First Impressions of Earth and I was hooked on that for a while... Stereophonics came out with Live from Dakota which also got a lot of playtime. But it's been the past 3 months where it's been really strong. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium is brilliant and Muse's new album was equally as good, and I didn't listen to Muse before I heard that alb…

so, i decided to re-listen to the whole album today morning. my thoughts: this album makes you realise how shit today's indie pop/rock music is. unlike the today's indie bands, Jeff Mangum wrote some brilliant lyrics. and if we add his unique voice and in some places melancholy, in other places moving music, that just makes everything's complete and perfect. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea can be easily an image to follow for other bands. it's not that kind of cool album you would expect to play on the radio stations or at the parties, it's more a personal album which will touch your heart already at the very beginning "and this is the room, one afternoon I knew I c…

Anyone listens to this Aussie singer/songwriter? I'm not fond of female singers (besides Dido) but Missy is truly brilliant. Her album "The Sound of White" is really good. My favourite songs on the album would be "nightminds" and "the sound of white". :)

Just bought her album, and my gosh is it good! I can't shut up about how good she is! She's being compared to Fiona Apple, but her songs aren't as.......angsty as Ms. Apple's (who by the way, I still love lots). Definitely check her out. Her album Happenstance is fantastic. http://www.rachaelyamagata.com Enjoy folks!

Okay here's an idea, everyone post a band that aren't THAT well known and you think people on here might like. With links to where you can check them out if you like etc. I'll start the ball rolling with: The Seahorses! - John Squire's band after he left the Stone Roses. They only released one album and then broke up just before releasing the second one. The first album was really good though, and the single "You Can Talk To Me" was gonna be on the second album and it was awesome too! Definitely worth checking out if you're into bands like Oasis and 90s britpop but want maybe a more riff-based technical take on it, with Squire's virtuoso guitar playing genius! …

Hi everyone! I'm in a band named Fallen, and we just realeased our first EP a few weeks ago and I just want to get some opinions on it, so if anyone has the time to listen to it and spread the word, I would greatly appreciate it! You can listen to the entire cd on our website in the media section: http://www.fallentheband.vze.com . Or our myspace you can listen to the last half of the cd (the better half in my opinion). http://www.myspace.com/fallentheband . Thanks a million!

The links are in my signature, my Myspace will be the first place to check! I think if you like bands along the lines of Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Embrace, Oasis & The Beatles etc you may like my sound! On Myspace right now I've got two proper studio recordings taken from my album (Closer to You, and Lucid Dreams) and I also recently added two home demo recordings, which are much lower sound/production quality but still good songs, so it's interesting to hear the difference. Anyway check out my stuff and if you like it then add me on Myspace or comment in here etc. Thanks!

Chart-topping boy band Five have announced a comeback five years after they split. The line-up will be just four - Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abs Breen and Jason "J" Brown - with former bandmate Sean Conlon focusing on a solo career. Robinson said that would not prompt a name change, adding: "Five's a brand not a number." The group, who sold 20 million records worldwide between 1997 and 2001, are working on a new self-funded album. The record is a collaboration with Robbie Williams' former song writing partner Guy Chambers. "I just hope everybody is going to want to hear our stuff and see what we are doing now," Brown told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat. …
