VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope John Paul II, the Polish pontiff who led the Roman Catholic Church for more than a quarter century and became history's most-traveled pope, died Saturday night in his Vatican apartment. He was 84. The announcement came from papal spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls and was distributed to journalists via e-mail. "The Holy Father died this evening at 9:37 p.m. (2:37 p.m. EST) in his private apartment. All the procedures outlined in the apostolic Constitution `Universi Dominici Gregis' that was written by John Paul II on Feb. 22, 1996, have been put in motion." RIP Pope John Paul II

Alright. What do people think of this show. It seems that nowadays it's just there. It's not a big deal, ya know? On the rare occasion that I watch this show, it's really funny. But I don't know. The guy who plays the dad is really funny.

(Lansing, Michigan) Doctors or other health care providers could not be disciplined or sued if they refuse to treat gay patients under legislation passed Wednesday by the Michigan House. The bill allows health care workers to refuse service to anyone on moral, ethical or religious grounds. The Republican dominated House passed the measure as dozens of Catholics looked on from the gallery. The Michigan Catholic Conference, which pushed for the bills, hosted a legislative day for Catholics on Wednesday at the state Capitol. The bills now go the Senate, which also is controlled by Republicans. The Conscientious Objector Policy Act would allow health care providers …

Rock and Rent CBGB may be Manhattan’s most famous rock club faced with eviction, but it’s not the only one. Will 2005 be the year New York's rock scene dies? WEB EXCLUSIVE By Brian Braiker Newsweek Updated: 10:26 a.m. ET April 1, 2005 April 1 - As far as cultural icons go, it’s not much to look at. It’s dank. It’s dark. It smells a little funny. But CBGB is, after all, a punk icon, and those who love the rock club wouldn’t have it any other way. But they might not have a choice in the matter: the 32-year-old live music venue is under imminent threat of eviction by its New York landlord, a homeless-services agency that claims CBGB’s proprietor has not been pay…

I am working on a story/project for one of my university classes. I am writing kind of a book based on a fictional band I have created. I need someone really generous who would like to draw some character sketchs for me based on the descriptions and attributes I am trying to put across. The band is a 5 peice band, with a lead singer, two guitarists, a bass player and a drummer. If you can draw anything of the sort and are looking for something to do, or just want to help out please email me at [email protected] or just post here. I would really appreciate any help, even if you only want to do a character or two. perhaps a keen artist would like to do all 5? lol than…

TORONTO (CP) - Those who enjoy swapping music, books and movies online may want to reconsider. The federal government inched closer Thursday to cracking down on file sharing by announcing several proposed amendments to the Copyright Act. The changes would include implementing elements of two World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties and forcing Internet service providers to keep records of those who share high volumes of copyright-protected material such as songs, Hollywood movies and TV shows. The amendments would "clarify that the unauthorized posting or the peer-to-peer file-sharing of material on the Internet will constitute an infringement of c…
