June 28, 200916 yr We were studying Tarentino in Film culture this year; turns out he's a subliminal racist. In Kill Bill the heroine has blonde hair and blue eyes symbolising Hitlers vision for the perfect race, and the japanese are depicted as rats. Personally I think that's reading into too much but something to discuss if you're a tarentino fan. This is why I ended up hating English as a subject. I know you aren't talking about English there, but over analysis is a terrible thing. Poems being the main outlet of it in English, NOT EVERY SENTENCE HAS A DEEP LYING MEANING. How are the Japanese depicted as rats though? I don't get that. Anyway, I just watched The Life Aquatic, it was really nice, but I need to watch it again when I am not half asleep

June 28, 200916 yr Kafka - interesting and good. 8/10 Diving Bell and the Butterfly - it was ok, didn't really do much for me 7/10 Inland Empire - Not gonna say I got it, maybe some parts of it. But I love Lynch's style and I love the fact I can analyse it for a long time after seeing it 8,5/10

And Shuya Nanahara (not his name but it's the character he plays in Battle Royale) is not a good Yagami Light The Anime starts off so well, but fades off a bit then picks up again right at the end, it's so much better than the movie though

July 4, 200916 yr The Hangover: 9/10 Best comedy I've seen all year. The humor is a bit crude, but it's not stupid. The ending has fantastic and the characters are wonderful. The big twist was a little lame, but everything else was a riot.

It was great seeing several actors that generally make me laugh; too bad that none of them really made me laugh in this particular movie. And what little religious satire it had wasn't very clever. The House Bunny -- 6/10 ... it was really stupid :lol: For a supposed "chick comedy", I actually didn't mind that one.
