Barricade was offered on iTunes last night for a short time, seemingly in error. Luckily, I nabbed it before it was removed. It's really, really wonderful.

While "Lights" never really clicked with me, I think "Barricade" is a great single. It really takes off at the second chorus. For some reason, I feel like this album is gonna feel like Antics, even though the band says they wanted to return to the style of TOTBL. Not a bad thing, mind you.

Either way, the new music will be good - I wouldn't be surprised if it's a fusion between all 3 albums.

Ran into by chance and just downloaded Julian Plenti Is...Skyscraper and randomly found out he was also singer of Interpol. I have yet to hear Interpol's stuff though.

just listening to Barricades on the radio now. really loving the guitar work but i think the vocals might take some getting used to.

I was never a fan of OLTBA, other than a song or two, but I've a great feeling for this one. "Lights" was a burner live...as was "Summer Well." I know a lot of people are not crazy with Paul's vocals but I think this is how it's going to be. He has said that he didn't really sing in the first 2 albums -- he felt like he just screamed. Guess a lot of us liked his "screaming" (never sounded like screaming to me). His lyrics also seem a little more straight forward than they were in the first 2.

 

Most of the stuff I loved about the first two albums seems to be back: the layered sounds & the in-your-face rhythm section.

Games For Days is the most Interpol-like song on that record.

thanks for the 411! I was tempted to listen to it.. but I kinda wanna leave something for when the album comes out! lol I like to be surprised! And I hate listening to stuff leaked. I feel like its such a disrespect to the band after all their hard work... I feel that way about any artist I really like though.. :/

LOVE love love Interpol.. and especially Paul.. lol but I wasn't such a fan of Skyscraper. I might have heard the whole album through like 3-4 times and nothing. Games For Days was the only single and the only song worth playing on repeat! lol I like his earlier solo stuff... (underground) its better than the stuff on his released solo stuff.

I have my own form of twisted ethics. I won't listen to a leak....but I'll legally download singles released before the album drops.
