Everytime I think about it I have to go lie down on my bed with a cold towel on my forehead. :stunned:

No, ok I'm kidding about that. But that really was, I feel, the high point of my life. Shame it had to come so early.

*jigs* my brother might get to work with them. His company is signed for with itunes. he just dosen't know if he'll be signed for the u2 session. but if he is he'll work with edge :o

:stunned:

lol oh man........ Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for your brother (and you!)

ua ua uahu lucky him  ...I'm keeping my fingers crossed too ;)

Too bad he hates U2 but thinks edge is a decent guitar player. He only mentioned it because he knows i adore them.

Decent?????

Oh dear.

Edge is far from "Decent"!!!!!!! I think he's the best guitarist to have ever laid his fingers on 6 strings. :smug:

(but I also think I'm completely biased! LMFAO!)

I was just reading something about the Edge.

He said something along the lines of how he doesn't practice. He comes into the studio having not practiced. He says it helps him be at odds with the instrument, have no expectations other than for it to be his sonic bitch. :)

If only I could be that good.

Also, when you think about it, from the time he started guitar to the time he was on a major label EP, he'd only been playing five years. Total.

I read something like that too. And he's never had lessons.

So see, I have a legitimate excuse for not bothering to take lessons when my dad pesters me to. "But Dad, I'm emulating the goddamn EDGE here!!!" LMFAO!

"Sonic bitch" Did he really call it that??

Adam had no idea how to play the bass when they started together. Apparently he just bullshitted his way into the band. That's pretty funny

Decent?????

I agree on all terms.

And hah about Edge not practicing...I wouldn't doubt it. He's too good for practicing.

And adam. hahaha. He's just so smooth, being able to bullshit his way in. He didn't take bass lessons until after the ZooTv tour, when him and Larry spent a year in NYC getting him off drugs and alcohol and all that jazz.

Yeah apparently they all just assumed Adam was this brilliant bass player when they let him join, because he talked and talked about all this random stuff that was totally over all their heads. Plus he was older. I think that's hysterical. And then he showed up and he had no idea what he was doing.

I read about that as well, their own personal "New York Years". (Did you read about that in Until The End of the World? If so, isn't that a GREAT book?)

I've always wanted to read Until The End Of The World, but no. I just picked these things up. *hideshead coughfanfictioncoughcoughcoughdiesofshamecoughcough* anyhoo, yeah. The only books I have on U2 are Bono In Conversation and the one about all the songs that I cannot remember the title of at the moment. And I've read 6 chapters of Killing Bono.

But yeah i pick these things up...i amazed people we sat next to at our u2 concert with everything i could tell them :smug:

*coughsometimesithinkihavethesameproblemitsokomfglmfaocoughcoughcoughcoughcoughhack*

Wow, I'd definately read Until The End Of The World. It's very... gripping. Definately no dull moments, not that I can remember at least. (Well, I did read 300 pages of it on my 7 hour flight to Ireland, so maybe that enhanced it a wee bit.)

Bono In Conversation is very good, I feel. I just finished it a day ago. Funny and interesting to read. I think the book you mean is Into The Heart. I have that as well. I'm such an idiot. I never even suspected "An Cat Dubh" was about sex until I read it in there, and it's one of my all time favorite songs. I love the begining so much. I never really read into the lyrics though until that. :stunned:

Hmm really I could know you from somewhere else then lol.

Whats your name interference? Do you do LJ?

I do want to read UTTEOTW. If I ever get money, because that helps.

Hahah Yes into the heart. I actually knew most of those things but reading it was fun too.

I've got the same name at Interference, an_cat. I'm more of a lurker there than here, though. Don't ask why, I don't really know. But I'm always splitting my online time between here and there. I'm such a forum slut!

It's ironic you mention LJ, I just decided to start to use mine today! I usually use greatestjournal, but I'm going to start updating LJ as well. What's your LJ name? Mine's "rocknserve". I definately wouldn't mind adding a fellow U2 and Coldplay fan! ;)

Money is a very nice thing to have, yes it is. I have a similiar problem when it comes to Killing Bono. I really want to read it, but I don't have the dough to buy it!

i was going to ask if you were at interference, can't say I've ever seen you there.

WTF??i never knew that!!! :stunned: :stunned: omg!!! the edge is a fucking guitar genius and he NEVER had any classes?? this past weekend(plus 2 days off from school) i think my new vertigo dvd might split up in two because i watched it so much...and i was just wondering that...who must have taught him how to play? he is just too good :stunned:

btw. i used to dislike stongly city of blinding lights....however, after watching the dvd over and over...it might as well be one of my favs!!!! :D

Trade? Coldplay (Floor, RowE!) Manchester, NH for U2 Boston?

Since this is the forum for U2 AND Coldplay fans, I'll give this a try... :)

I’ve got 4 excellent floor tickets together for Coldplay (Floor Section 1, Row E. seats close to middle section!) in Manchester, NH for 4/3/06.

I would like to trade them for 2 really good U2 seats (loge, sections 13-22) for one of the Boston shows 12/4 or 12/5. Dependent on how good the U2 seats are, I would even trade 4 Coldplay for 2 U2 tickets.

Are you interested in a trade or can make me a good offer? It would be great if another U2/Coldplay fan had some “leftovers”!

Thanks!!

PK

Bono In Conversation, Killing Bono, and Into The Heart

Erm... Other than the Flanagan book (which really IS the U2 Bible, I'm currently rereading it) I heard Killing Bono is pretty good, if not necessarily completely about the band itself. Lola Cashman's book is apparently written in bad blood... I, personally, am not interested in reading about someone talk about things the band trusted her with on a confidential level. I haven't read it though, so who knows.

I read Bono In Conversation and I enjoyed it, but I'm a huge fan of the man himself and I could listen to him rattle on about things for hours, so it was perfect in that regard. But it doesn't really address anything "new" or anything you wouldn't already know.... So unless you like reading Bono's... conversations then you might or might not want to bother with it.

Into the Heart, the stories behind every song, is pretty good. I just like sitting around and listening to the songs and reading the backstory (even if I already know it) at the same time. I like the pictures.

I'm getting Anton Corbijn's U2&I book for Christmas, but I heard that's good. Of course, you can probably see all the pictures online, but I'm a HUGE Corbijn fan, and a photography buff. It's really expensive if you get it in the store, though... Amazon.com had some good deal that my mom found, apparently.

I don't think that, other than At the End of the World (and Propaganda is very good too, I like the pictures and the interviews, etc etc) there is any really GREAT definative book on the band.

Hope this helps, somehow.

Can we stop having stuff in common, plz. :P I LOVE photography, Anton Corbjin is a god. So is Kevin Westernberg and Bob Langrish.

Oh man, photography is my current passion. (I'm even thinking of studying it for 2 weeks in Romania this summer!!) I'm lucky, as a U2 fan, that they've worked with some of the greatest photographers...
