^^ yes you were one of many good reviews i read about the doves. they sounded incredible by all the feedback i was hearing about it, hence my interest in seeing them live!

The Doves vs Athlete

 

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between the intro to the incredible Snowden by the Doves and the instrumental passage at about 2 minutes on Athlete's brilliant This Is What I Sound Like?

Spooky heh? The rest of the songs are very different but this part is uncanny. Think both songs are awesome.

They are quite similar. Both great songs they are, Snowden and This Is What I Sound Like (one of Athlete's best I think).

I definitely prefer Doves

 

The Last Broadcast and Lost Souls were masterpieces

i much preffer doves,i only like a few athlete songs but love all three doves album and there b sides album.

 

last broadcast is a classic and lost souls and some cities are brilliant too,no contest for me.

Agreed, doves most definately. Lost Souls is their perfect album for me.

Athlete only managed to keep my attention for a month or something, while Doves will last for a long time.

Doves are incredible. So many singles, so versatile, so foreign-sounding. I eagerly await their next album.

It would be interesting to see how the 4th Doves album compares to the 4th Elbow album, both are wonderful Manchester bands

I prefer Doves, but I adore both bands. Lost Souls is one of my desert island albums. (I got it the same day as I got Parachutes...the day after I first saw Coldplay, so it's VERY special to me.)

Good point. That's why I never minded waiting for VLV, so I hope this will be as much worth the wait.

 

My best friend and I were supposed to see them live in Toronto a couple of years ago, and she nearly split with her hubby that week, so she cancelled...and she was going to do the driving!:bigcry:

Very true. so excited to hear what sound they are going for this time.

i dont mind wating aslong as they put out a really great album,they havent dissapointed yet.

I think it would be hard for them to disappoint their fans. They're so unpredictable we never know what to expect from them so we can't get our hopes up for a certain sound,lol. (Like we sometimes do with Coldplay;)) I sent a note to Heavenly Records, but I doubt I'll hear back. I have a friend at Capitol who might know though. Will keep you posted.

Why did I think that Heavenly records got eaten up by another record company and the name removed from service
