ClearAsCrystal
egahd! I hadn't caught ear of that song in a long long while. It almost made me sick in the stomach for want of his life again. Thank you, Ondes.
Paul Kemp
I would give my left arm for a higher quality version of the recording of Stickman with the reversed drums and whatnot... That's gotta be my favorite of all the leaked tracks we've seen in the past months....
Ondes Martenot
Stickman has to be my favourite of those as well. i'm still wondering how would Elliott mix the songs on FABOTH if he was alive in that time...we'll never know i guess

Lera
Thanks  I've already listened for six songs of this list and I really liked it, especially Rose Parade, Son of Sam and Twilight. Ondes Martenot
I don't get that either. So' date=' Elliott was working on FABOTH but never finished compiling the song...so then what? Someone else finished it?[/quote'] i believe some "too dark and suicide motive" songs were dropeed by his family for example: King's Crossing was edited (with "Because I love you" lyrics)

Ondes Martenot
what would the lyrics have been? wow...i didn't know this :stunned: more... actually not really edited, only added a bit after that Elliott says: "Give me one good reason not to do it" you can barely hear: "Because I love you" and after comes: "so do it..." it's either his sister's or Jennifer Chiba's voice i think

Ondes Martenot
his ex/girlfriend? ! :freak: who gave permission to all this editing? his family i guess and actually according to wikipedia it can't be J.Chiba's voice, i was wrong i think, it's either his sister or Joanna Bolme (ex-girlfriend) "With Smith's family in control of his estate, they chose to bring in Rob Schnapf and Elliott's ex-girlfriend Joanna Bolme to sort through and mix the album. Although stated by the musician to be a double album (or a regular album with a "bonus disc"), it was released as a 15-track single album. Many of the darkest songs were not included, such as "True Love" (which deals graphically with addiction and then rehab), "Abused", "Stickman" "Suicide Machine" (a reworking of the Figure 8 era unreleased instrumental, "Tiny Time Machine"). It is rumored that it was the family's wishes not to have these songs on the record, as they had the final say in what should or should not be released." + "Ostriches & Chirping" has nothing to do with Elliott, it's simply not his song...it is David McConnell's song, he recorded it himself...but don't ask me why it's on the album, i have no idea + "I don’t think he would have delivered {that} record. The record he would have delivered would have had more songs, would have had different mixes and {been} a little more in-your-face" that proves that this record is quite mixed and we'll never know i guess which songs were on the original track list
ClearAsCrystal
O :wacky: I dunno about trusting Wikipedia... I mean, the story sounds alright, and could very well be true...but people can just :uhoh: go into wikipedia and change the information themselves. That is how conspiracies get started. . . I wish always, that there was some way we could dig into the truth about all of his songs, motives, and emotions. What a man.... His birthdate is in about 22 days :)
Lera
Whoa, the more I listen to his music the more depressive I feel. And searching facts about his life and death doesn't make me more positive. And this wall, god, it's so sorrowful. That's a shame I didn't even know about him when he died. I mean, I knew him only because of Oscar thing but that's all. anniep_93
I found out about him when The Royal Tenenbaums fillm came out and it played the song Needle in the Hay during Richie's suicide scene. That was the best use of music Ive ever seen in a movie.

Lera
Was it Elliott Smith's cover of "Because" in the end of "American Beauty"?.. And "Stickman" also reminds me of The Beatles so much. And "King's Crossing" is just awesome, I believe I've heard it before too.
Ondes Martenot
yes, he covered Beatles many times, and yes he sings Because in American Beauty (i can upload it if you want). he also played Lennon's Jealous Guy at his gigs quite often Beatles were his favourite band so don't be surprised if many songs will sound like Beatles, some of his songs like a dedication to them
