October 20, 200421 yr from a basement on a hill - elliott smith this is the best album of 2004. im not sure with his disco but its the most moving peice of music he has wrote.
October 21, 200421 yr it's actually basement on THE hill... nitpicking, I know. I've only listened to it twice so far, (#3 is happening as we speak), but my initial impression is that far from being the best of 2004 (that would be Brian Wilson's Smile, in my opinion), it's actually his least consistant solo album. It sounds, well, unfinished, which is exactly what it is. However close it was to being completed when he died, it lacks the cohesiveness of the rest of his work. That's my opinion right now, anyway. There are moments of brilliance, to be sure. :D
October 21, 200421 yr (that would be Brian Wilson's Smile, in my opinion) have you heard "Little Pad" it's not off Smile but it's a great tune
February 14, 200521 yr BUMP! elliott smith, i wish i had realized your talents when you were still alive. the man is amazing.
October 20, 200520 yr It is coming up to 2 years since his apparent suicide. Demos from basement on the hill have leaked recently. It is so good to hear new stuff from this very talented musician.
October 20, 200520 yr Coincidentally I've been listening to him the last 2 days. I forgot how great his music is. But don't listen to him walking home in the rain at night after breaking up with your girlfriend. Man I sure do pick depressing music at the best of times...
October 20, 200520 yr Ah...*Justine*...you beat me to it. I was going to make a thread as a tribute to Elliott Smith tomorrow. This guy is amazing. :stunned: If not the biggest fan, I'm up there, way up high. BTW...Basement on the Hill demos have been out since waaay back when- shortly after he passed on. Anyway. It's pretty pretty heart wrenching when such a great musical artist dies, and more so when they are at their peak of greatness. A few weeks ago i finished a t-shirt in tribute to him. It was stitched with love and made with Elliott Smith albums playing in the background. I'm gonna wear it tomorrow (oct. 21st is when he passed away). That's life i guess.

October 20, 200520 yr There are a few from 'FABOTH that aren't working on my compy for rapidshare :/ !!!!! So i only have a few. That's weird because they PLAY on my computer, but i can't upload 'em...hmmm. On a postitive note, i do have a few which are available. I do hope someone else who has 'From a Basement on a Hill' in it entirety...will 1) marry me (given they have the right qualities which would be appropriate for me)... 2)Share the goods! These are the ones i can't seem to share: -Pretty (ugly Before) -Don't Go Down -Strung Out Again -Fond Farewell -King's Crossing -Ostriches and chirping -Last Hour -A Distorted Reality Is Now A Necessity Bo Be Free these are some more i CAN share: http://rapidshare.de/files/6541772/Elliott_Smith_-__Let_s_Get_Lost.mp3.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6542318/Elliott_Smith_-_Twilight.mp3.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6542357/Elliott_Smith_-_From_a_Basement_on_the_Hill_-_Memory_Lane.mp3.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6542296/Elliott_Smith_-_From_a_Basement_on_the_Hill_-_A_Passing_Feeling.mp3.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6542454/Elliott_Smith_-_Shooting_Star.mp3.html
October 21, 200520 yr Well, I am sure the demos were around since before he passed away, but the point is they hadn't leaked until now, at least that is the story on mtv. Here is a link where I got my mp3s from: http://www.elliottsmithbsides.com/BasementIIDemos.htm
October 21, 200520 yr meh  maybe yes, maybe no. I lean towards no because I got those songs about a half a year after his death.
