ok here we go…

me and my friend arrived at the club at about 6ish.. it looked very tiny and there were maybe about 10 people outside. at about 7 we managed to buy a ticket, but heard also the rumour that the band wasn’t there yet. we were of course a bit concerned, what with travelling there for 4 hours from Switzerland, so we asked someone from the venue, but they seemed *very* certain that it’s on.

at maybe about 7.45 we were taken in through a special wheelchair entrance, before all the other people. the venue was indeed small (maybe 500 ppl?). when we were in my friend suddenly posted into a corner and yelled: “omg, pete!” - what we saw was that the whole band was doing a photo shoot in the corner. Pete looked very healthy and chubby in a torn shirt and a tailcoat (it’s also the first time I saw him from a distance nearer than 20 metres). we got a bit closer, but didn’t want to interrupt the photo shoot as all the people from the venue had been very lovely (despite almost noone of them speaking english). Finally they were doing single shoots, so Adam got down and sat down near us. when he saw us smiling, he said hi. i said “Hi Adam!” and he was like, in a very chuffed tone: “How come you know my name??”. I was a bit surprised by this, as I know the name of every band member, and I’m sure all of you do too. So he told me that “normally people just know Peter’s name, the others they don’t”. After that I asked him to sign my train ticket to Milan and explained that we got there from Switzerland because they cancelled the Swiss gig. He apologized for that, wrote on my ticket: “sorry for cancelling” and then got up for doing his single shoots, but he mumbled something like “I get them in minute”. After about 2 minutes, he really came back to us with Drew and Pete. we got kisses from everyone with Adam telling them that we came from Switzerland. I was really starstruck because of Peter, so I was like: “Oh gosh, you’re here!” and he grinned and said: “Yes I’m here” and went on to write on my friend’s single “Pete was here”. Drew was really a sweetheart too, asking for our names, signing stuff and chatting. After that we gave Pete our present, a tiny Swiss cowbell which he found very funny. They then had to go and we had a nice chat with Miss Moss’ bodyguard.

the support was quite okay, some Italian band I guess, and we saw everything very well, we were at the front in one corner. When babyshambles came on the club was extremely full. Unfortunately they were very strict with their “no camera policy” and took away several cameras, so I couldn’t really take pictures. Shambles started with “Pipedown”, and we were so exciting seening Pete holding our little cow bell, shaking it during the song. He didn’t play guitar for the first couple of songs but instead was dancing. I can’t tell how good a prformance it was for them, as I’ve only seen them one time before, but I really enjoyed it. Some people threw a hat on stage that looked like a sock and Pete wore it for a couple of songs. Somebody else threw on a union jack which pete tied up on the microphone. From the Libertines they did “time for heroes” which was sooo good and “what Katie did”. From the album they did “Pipedown”, “Sticks and Stones”, “Loyalty Song”, “Albion” with Pete throwing away his guitar and nicking Mick’s, “Fuck Forever”, “La belle et la bete” (with Kate’s usual performance, but I really disliked her outfit) going right over into “Back from the dead” and “Killamangiro”. They also played “You talk” (which I really enjoyed though I guess I was the only person in the audience knowing it, because of mys’ myspace) and “Beg, Steal and Borrow” which had surprisingly everyone singing. Also some other new ones that I didn’t know, but unfortunately no “Janie Jones” or “The blinding”. The atmosphere was very good, everyone seemed to happy that they were actually here! Despite Peter dancing around, picking up stuff that was thrown on the stage etc. he didn’t say a single word during the whole gig, which I found a little peculiar. But maybe he thought nobody would understand it anyway and therefore went for nonverbal communication.

They played for about 90 minutes. After the gig Drew came to the barrier and talked to some people. We then went outside to hear that Pete was already gone with Miss Moss. When the rest of the band came out soon after that, people from the club were holding the about 10 fans that were waiting outside back from talking to them. I’ve never seen that before and found it quite annoying, what is wrong with giving everyone an autograph and taking a quick photo? Luckily, Adam saw us and came over again, that was very sweet of him. We tried to take a picture which turned out extremely rubbish, and he was glad to hear that we enjoyed it. He said that they were very tired and would all go back to the hotel, so we said goodbye and then went on to kill the remaing 5 hours until we had our train.

I was so happy to finally see them in a good, small venue, and Pete really seemed clean and healthy. And Drew and Adam are jsut lovelies.

Lovliest people in the world.

:heart::heart::heart:

LOOOOOOVE.

That's all I've got to add :D

^Aww:heart:

^He's looking kinda chubby right? :nice:

We love chubby don't we :nice:

This is a post from this thread but I just felt the need to repost it cause it's basically everything I belive in:

They were fucking amazing.. the music still is. I still love it as much as the day I was first listening to Horrorshow with my mouth dropped open at how good it was.

As for what they’ll be remembered for..the tabloid BS will fall away, and there will be a true appreciation for their music, the likes of which there can’t be now, because everything is focused on the Peter and Kate show. But there will come a time that that’s forgotten, and the music will be what people talk about. What people remember.

EEEEEEE Dani that's great! Did you seriously do it yourself? It looks perfect. I really mean it' date=' it's gorgeous.[/quote']

Cheers, everybody :nice: It actually took me a long time, because my blue pen was sort of big tipped and fucking Peter's handwriting is impossible to copy :laugh4: Seriously, don't try it at home. Actually, after awhile it really started to hurt because I was pressing down. I felt like I was getting an effing tattoo for real :laugh4: I'm going to go over it with a sharpie so it'll stay on for awhile longer. I love it! Maybe if people see it and THEY like it, I'll get it permanent this summer...

:uhoh:

Sooooooooooooooo I LOVE ADAM. Seriously, I love Shambles today (in case that wasn't obvious) omg they're amazing. Thank you thank you thank you Tea for sharing that :nice: awwww, it makes this sick girl smile

I love the second half to that quote, Tea.

Amen to it, just as now people don't think about the groupies and cocaine (well not IMMEDIATELY) when listening to 70s rock. Or the Rolling Stones. Or the Beatles. None of that stupid shit that went around them is affecting their musical credibility anymore. (well, maybe the Beatles aren't a good example, because of what Paul's going through now, bloody horrible).... I await the day.

I sure wish that. Yeah, their demise will always be remembered as well as all the tabloid stories. But I wish the day in which people could forget that and just listen to their music:heart:

Dani, great comparisons, I agree completely:D. No one brings back the dirty laundry from the Beatles or the Stones.

Well, if they don't, then I just hope they know how much fun WE'RE having while listening to it.

Haha, you're all missing out :smug:

Yeah exactly :), and one day...one day they'll know what they are missing out now

I was actually thinking about The Beatles when I read the quote.

I went to see Cynthia Lennon talk a couple of weeks ago and she talked about the groupies and the drugs and all that stuff she saw from the inside and said that noone cares about that anymore. The Beatles is about music, as is Babyshambles. People will realise that pretty soon.

And I think when Peter turns 28 the tabloids will back of a bit as well. I hope.

Yeah, cuz it's pretty obvious he's not going to hit the 27 martyre mark.

Idiots.

They're assholes.

I thought killing someone put you in jail...

Cause they fucking deserve it.

argh!!!!!

haha :laugh3:

So, back to the music.. er.. yeah, I can't talk atm.

:laugh4:

Music?

no, I'm just kidding ahaha.

I don't have much of anything scholarly to say on the subject of the Libertines etc...

Ummmm OH YEAH ok I'm really pissed because I'm sick of the awesome awesome awesome fansite's gallery being down.

This place, fyi: http://libertines.twinkling-star.com/

It's a great resource if you're new to them, actually ;)

But yeah, I want the gallery to be back up :bigcry: I found so many amazing pictures, but I didn't save a ton of them cuz I just figured they'd be THERE for me to look at.... it's been down for like, 2 months!! whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I love Spirit of Albion, it's the best Libertines fansite out there...

But she usually shuts the gallery down in the end of the every month due to bandwitch, if she doesn't the site disappears until the next month so check back in a week or something and it should be working :)

oy, I didn't know that!! I must always catch it when it's down! :laugh4: thanks for clearing that up, I've been quite sad lately aahah

Danielle - the french dog looks NUTS!!! I can't believe you drew that, it's amazing! :nice:

Andy - YOU LEGEND YOU!!! :cheesy: Thankyou so much for ripping those

As for the pics posted :stunned: .........holy muffins! :drunk: have mercy on my poor pathetic fangirl soul!!! :dead:

I've been so busy with uni, i keep missing the convo's on here :( gah!

:laugh4:

Music?

no, I'm just kidding ahaha.

:laugh4: I'm just so glad their great musicians and a pleasure to our eyes and souls (and some other things as well :sneaky:)

That photo isssssssssssss woooo makes me feel... high? Ok, it didn't make any sense, but I really can't wait to see the 'Puffin' DVD.

(You're welcome Steph! My pleasure always)
