Gwyneth Paltrow opts for the natural look as she chills out in the sun

We're used to seeing A-listers looking primped and preened on the red carpet.

But Gwyneth Paltrow proved she can look just as good hanging out in a shorts and T-shirt.

The actress went for a natural look as she hung out on the set of a magazine photoshoot in Los Angeles yesterday.

Casual look: Gwyneth Paltrow relaxs in the sun wearing shorts and a T-shirt yesterday

Wearing rolled up shorts and an extra large, baggy T-shirt the actress was clearly enjoying her break as she stretched out in the sun.

The Shakespeare in Love star wore her hair tied back in a loose ponytail and a natural make-up look, as she stepped out for a drink of juice and some sunshine.

Her casual appearance was in contrast to her appearance on Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show on Friday.

Gwyneth appeared on the American chat show to promote the exclusive gym which she has opened with personal trainer Tracey Anderson in New York.

However she attracted attention for the wrong reason when it appeared she had overdone her application of baby oil on her legs.

During the interview, the mother-of-two who is married to Coldplay's Chris Martin, made O'Brien perform exercises and showed how to strengthen his glutes.

Oh, I saw it as well - that one knee is shining a bit :inquisitive:

I love it, when she put her hair into a ponytail, in my opinion, she looks even younger with that hair than she already does.

Just saw that episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O'brien she still looks really pretty.

She's gorgeous even when she wears an over sized tshirt :)

Article about Gwyneth's trainer, Tracy Anderson, being quite the financial malfeasance instigator. Here is a summary of the article by the blog Jezebel

Indianapolis Monthly has a very long and very sordid piece about the many financial foibles of Tracy Anderson, celebrity trainer to Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna.

Here's a short version of Anderson's story:

After gaining weight and getting ridiculed as a ballet dancer, she developed a dance-based workout technique designed to "manipulate your muscular structure." She and her husband Eric opened several gyms in Fishers, Indiana, but quickly went into debt, partly due to Anderson penchant for driving fancy cars but not paying her sewer bills. After filing for bankruptcy and starting yet another gym, she asked Glynn Barber, a married dad who owned a tool-and-die business, to build her a "Hybrid Body Reformer," a variant on a Pilates machine that would both tone muscles and "make you super-tiny." Barber built twelve of the machine and, despite the fact that Anderson didn't pay him, both became romantically involved with her and invested in her business. Over the next several years, Anderson proceeded to bleed him dry of his eight-figure fortune, making him pay for luxuries like a $1,500 a night hotel in London when she visited Madonna, and an apartment in Los Angeles when she decided to relocate there. Though Barber is now broke, the home they shared in Indiana is being foreclosed upon, and one of her gyms has closed without fully reimbursing clients for unused lesson, Anderson apparently continues to train Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Oddly, an article by Donna Freydkin in today's USA Today makes no mention of Anderson's malfeasance. Freydkin calls Anderson "the woman responsible for Paltrow's attention-grabbing transformation from willowy to wow." And Paltrow (whom Anthony Bourdain called "the one bitch who refuses to eat ham") sounds like a promotional brochure when she gushes,

I had always been dedicated to exercise, but no matter how hard I worked, I never was able to change the things that bothered me. Her method is so rewarding because, yes, you are working hard, but you know you are getting somewhere. I really never thought that at 36, after two children, I could look better than I ever had.

How has Anderson gotten away with years of unpaid bills, bankruptcy, and using up a man's fortune, only to wind up a lauded trainer to the stars? We see two equally depressing reasons. One, Anderson embodies the pre-recession ethos of keeping up appearances at all costs. Her expensive car, home, hotel stays, and studio equipment were all part of Anderson's strategy: her associates told Indianapolis Monthly that "she sells herself with charisma and succeeds, time and time again, by giving the impression that she is already successful" — even when she has no money to pay for the things she buys. Though this strategy has resulted in devastating financial fallout for Barber — and for others too quickly taken in by the early 21st centuries buy-now, pay-later mores — it seems to be working for Anderson, at least for now.

The other secret to her success: people, especially actresses, really want to be thin. Anderson "promised that anyone could look like her," says former client Amy Paull. "Anyone could be a size 0 or a size 2." Paull adds that when people hear of Anderson's financial troubles, "the usual comment I hear is, ‘It's terrible what she did, but did her workout work? People are so desperate to be thin." Desperate enough, apparently, that they don't care if their trainer has cheated others and may well cheat them. Tracy Anderson: yet another sign of the end-times.

i always thought tracy anderson was fishy. i never had much to base that on besides gut-feeling, but now i'm seeing i wasn't exactly wrong :P.

and "anyone can be a size 0"? that's just unhealthy. as far as i remember, studies have shown that a) not all bodies are the same, so it's probably not that healthy for everyone to be a 0, and b) healthy for the average person is supposed to be around a US size 6, if i recall correctly. from pictures i've seen, tracy is a very short, petite person, and it wouldn't be that hard for her to be a 0. but for taller, somewhat naturally larger people with wider hips? they'd look emaciated if they were a 0 (like gwyneth...don't we know that she's a 6?).

"anyone can be a size 0"?

oh i know! like, SERIOUSLY? pfffffft! :P:P:P:P

even if i were to shave off ALL my body fat (that i didn't need to survive--everyone needs some), i don't think my hips would fit into a size 0 :P. to be honest, i'm not that large now, but there's no way my hips will ever fit into anything less than a 4 unless i get a new pelvis .

"Anyone can be a size zero"

Allow me to laugh my ass off at that statement :dozey:

I'd have to be cut in half or have a very serious eating disorder to ever be able to fit in that size.... stupid people :shifty:

Wow...

"Anyone can be a size 0"

Anyone who is a professional trainer should know that size 0 (for most people) is just not healthy!

Yeah, I think I posted earlier a link to some forum full of people who had been screwed over by Tracy's business practices... her gyms are geared towards the rich, so she owes some people thousands. There were also quite a lot of attacks on her character and health-habits there...who knows if any of that is true or if people are just mad that they were conned out of money, but she's definitely not someone I would trust with a few grand.

I really highly doubt she will mess up any of Madonna's or Gwyneth's finances though. I think she always set her sights on mingling with a celebrity crowd so I don't think she would go and ruin what she has now. Really doubt her celebrity clients are in any danger.

As far as her program being so 'amazing'... If you're working out HARD for 2 hours a day, then you've burned probably about 1000-1200 calories. Of course you can lose loads of weight that way and still eat many of the foods you like...

I prefer to make my workouts more time efficient though...so I do a lot of whole body exercises that work many muscles at a time, and combine cardio with strength training by doing bootcamp style classes. And doing an hour a day has resulted in a significant decrease in my weight and body fat.

I don't think her program is the magic it's made out to be. She took some women who were already pretty slim and toned them. You can see the results easily on them because they already were small to begin with and didn't have a ton of fat to shave off.

^^all good points, but especially this:

I don't think her program is the magic it's made out to be. She took some women who were already pretty slim and toned them. You can see the results easily on them because they already were small to begin with and didn't have a ton of fat to shave off.

i never thought of it this way, and i think you're completely right: since both gwyneth and madonna certainly weren't overweight, i doubt it took that much to get them to what they look like now. a bowflex machine probably could have done the same, since it's not like they needed to lose a great amount of weight.

i'm only 5'4", so i can't make fun of her height at all :P. but as far as i can guess, i would imagine that it's much easier for a 5'1" person to be a size 0 than a 5'9" person (or however tall gwyneth is exactly). or any other averagely-tall person, for that matter.

Is 0 that skinny ? I don't understand your sizes :\

0 is SUPER skinny.I think it's a 30 or 32 French but I'm not sure.Lowest you can have.

Thanks ! Pheww I'm not 0 then ;) That's not healthy ...

that's so mean. You're allowed to be vegetarian for f*cks sake.
