Random Coldplay thoughts...

Yeah, I know. But the thing is I don't only listen to Coldplay in my life (lots of classical music and other artists too) but I realized I only listen to Coldplay at work (classical music and other stuff like for example Pink Floyd that I like often are longer pieces and imho not so suited for listening during work - for example, classical music usually distracts me from the actual work)...so I guess it was fear of being branded as "she only listens to Coldplay!" when in truth I don't.

oh, I see. Well, that's a risk that you take. You can either start listening to some other stuff at work or you can get a t-shirt with "I listen to Coldplay, but I also like other stuff" written on it :P

I don't know about Mexixo, but back in Korea, Coldplay was generally recognized as a "cool", "artistic" band. Which was nice:D But at the same time, so many people didn't know Coldplay. Hmm...

I'm almost a new fan (I've been listening to Coldplay for 4 years) so I don't know how they were seen before. At the moment, they're a respected band, a lot of people was waiting for their tour and now they have 3 sold out dates. Also, their songs are well received AOAL is number 2 in Spotify. But as any other country (I guess) there are people who believe they aren't that good.

"The Scientist" at nearly 5am is still a bloody good tune with the best lyrics written to heal a broken heart "nobody said it was easy, nobody said it would be this hard"

Genius

i think i ve heard it a billion times before and am crying like a baby (tears and all)

I totally agree. Easily a Top 5 Coldplay song for me.

That's interesting... I'm assuming less exposure probably makes them more likely to be regarded as a cool indie group from the West. Less exposure means less annoying commercialism, less chart toppers and appearances. They look less like attention seekers there, like a little shy kid in the playground that no one really notices or messes around with. Sounds cool, but regardless Coldplay seems to have this massive "hate base" wherever they go. People have every right to hate (since it's their own opinion of course, but I'm always saying "damn" at the amount of trolls they get.

I think they've always been liked here ( a lot more than in the US, i'm willing to say). Of course there's always those people who act like music snobs and say they suck, but in general I think they are well received and liked.

I also feel like there has always been a "bond" between the band and the country. I remember Mat Whitecross once said that they really love Mexico and they hardly get as excited in other places, and I think that a lot of that has to do with the response they get from the fans and the general public every time they come.

I think I'll do none of the two and just go on listening to Coldplay at work.... :D

I'm not from Mexico, but I can imagine the band like the country....for example, the phrase "Viva La Vida" comes from a painting of watermelons by Frida Kahlo !!

Didn't know that. That means we "discovered" Coldplay at almost the same time :D

What a nice coincidence!

And my today's random Coldplay thought is related to that fact.

Today it's been 4 years since I started to listen to Coldplay. Some people think the Grammy's are trash and doesn't award the real best music, but for me they are my source to discover Coldplay in 2012 in the time when I wanted to create my own playlist

Getting a bit emotional listening to "Brothers & Sisters" because it is so good and I know our boys have so much talent. We are so lucky to have them still creating music for us. Even though I am not as happy with the entire new album there are still places where I hear the Coldplay sound I love. After experiencing the Super Bowl Half Time in person I softened up to the new album, still not my favorite and only still like maybe 4 songs but it confirmed that I am a fan of Coldplay for the long run because of who they are. They are kind and creative musicians who care about their fans and their craft. I look forward to what they have in store in the future and hope for a more experimental sound and more depth in the songs. I'm happy that I can still enjoy all their previous old music that I love so much. Sorry for the long post, I'm currently in awe of who Coldplay is for everything they are, I had not felt like this in a while lately. All thanks to Blue Room E.P. and now listening to "Easy to Please" which maybe I am...lol

I have the same feeling about their early EPs. They may not have technical perfection but they are so beautiful and atmospheric - I love them !!!

Have been watching a lot of Coldplay concert footage recently (Parachutes Tour, Glastonbury 2005 and others from X&Y tour, Pinkpop 2011 which imho is the best concert of the MX Era) and have become a bit sad that I "missed"all these great moments (have never seen them live)...and now let's see if I can make it to the AHFOD tour but even if I do they won't be playing the songs I love most and anyway the tickets were so expensive that I went for cheaper ones in the upper ranks of the stadium, so I wonder if I will even see anything at all... :(

But something is better than nothing at least :) You'd get to see the band right in front of your eyes who made these wonderful older songs! Even if they won't play them and they may play songs you don't like to much I think it'll be worth it! I think they will play some older songs anyway though :)

Today I came across a gifset on tumblr of the 2009

, and I remembered how much I love the whole thing.

And I can't believe it was 7 years ago! :stunned:

And I also can't wait for the tour to start so that we have a lot of videos to watch and a lot of stories to read on the forum! :wacky:
