I was on Youtube, and I came across this song called "Rise and Fall". In the video description, it said this song was an unreleased instrumental track off of LP4. Has anybody else seen this?

Doesn't sound very Coldplay...

Coldplay hasn't said a word about this song or anything like it. Even if this wasn't a hoax(which I'm sure it is), they would have had to change the name.

I wouldn't rush to give an answer... It sounds good either way fake or not. I sent the user a message too see what they have to say

someone posted about this video. although it sort of sounds like an improv from one of coldplay's acoustic sessions, ANYONE could've made that...I think it was a misunderstanding by the uploader.

don't be so quick to say it's a hoax, I mean I'm not saying it's real... but for those who say 'It doesn't sound for colplayish' just remember what they have stated a few times before about how that this album is going to be completely different from anything else they made, so who knows. I do think the electric guitar sounds like Johnny though...

This is clearly NOT Coldplay. It's a nice bit of music though. The acoustic guitar sound is not remotely close to what Coldplay use, even for rough mixes,and the strum pattern isn't Chris's. If you want a Jonnny-style electric guitar sound, just run a clean guitar through a delay and voila! THe production is ameteurish...sounds more like me than Eno,lol. I hope if this is intentional that the writer takes the music and turns it into a real song of their own.:)

It sounds very nice, but I'm not sure thats Coldplay

No, instrumental songs isn`t what Coldplay do, but i agree with that it sounds very nice. It could sound like Johnny`s guitar playing...or...?

an instrumental piece of music doesnt sound alot like a dense of piece of music...does it? Dense to me sounds like a lot of the instruments involved and Chris' vocals

It could just be something they were toying with that Chris hadn't written lyrics for yet.

 

But I still say from the style and production it's definitely not CP.

Now my turn to find out what it is.

 

What have I done?

1. I just listen it.

2. I listen only to the acoustic parts.

3. I listen only to the electric parts

4. I listen to the mixing progress(what is done?)

5. I listen to the background

6. I listen to effects & reverb.

 

What are my answers?

 

1. The whole part sounds Coldplay, more like a rare live version or something like that.

2. The acoustic part sounds like Coldplay, the sound.. I comparted it with Sparks, Yellow and Brothers & Sisters.. the sound is very simmilair.

And it is another tuning as far as I can hear.

The strumming also, but it sounds rare.

3. Sound realy like Jonny, but the effects sound quite different.

4. Not Coldplay mixing.. different than other songs.

The acoustic guitar is more leading than electric.

I missing more basstones, Coldplay missed them to, I think.

5. What can I hear there? Realy nothing, that makes me thinking, because you can hear in Coldplay songs that it is recorded without direct input. But I can't hear that here.

6. There is reverb, but not enough!

And also, if it is Coldplay.. Where are the strings?

Why don't I hear Guy and Will playing?

Where are the effects that Jonny used with better settings?

 

 

Conclusion:

I can say it is Coldplay, but without good mixing and without clearly thinking about the final mix.

There is no GUy or Will playing, no strings, no rhythm instrument at back!

All songs from them does have them!

 

This isnt a song!

A song is called something with 2 verses and one chorus, intro and outro.

Then it is a song.

This doensnt have it.

If it is Coldplay, it can be a jamsession in the studio or something.

 

I can say that this is NOT a completed song.

Maybe the lyrics can change that.

This instrumental can't say that.

It is also very short and recorded in a good isolated studio. Without good mastering.

 

ps: I'm a musician too, I learned many, many things about recording, mastering, mixing, playing, theory.

I know where I am talking about.

...but, I still say that even rough mixes done with Eno aren't going to sound like this. It's not how Chris mics his acoustic, even for roughs/jams, and if Eno were invoolved, he'd mix the acoustic as if i were a final...that's just Eno...

This song sounds like an early demo of 'The Little Things Give You Away' by Linkin Park.

I suppose if you stretched your imagination it kinda sounds like the synopsis of "Life in Technicolor"...perhaps...maybe...
