Very awesome, each jersey with their respective name on the back. Last concert in Orlando they gave just one to Chris, this time they did all 4. The girl that got Chris's was jumping all over the stadium at the end of the show. It was her birthday. What a present!

Pics and videos will have to wait my connection is dodgy. I'm stealing one of Mel's neighbors unsecure network and keep loosing it. :P

Awesome show. Band sounded really good. Jonny was very dancy. We all got kick ass videos. And we managed to get Mich upgraded by band to the front. And I got my Yellow CD signed. Oh by the way, the Afro woman's name is Jackie. ;)

Wore my Southampton footie shirt and had 2 different guys from Southampton come up and talk me. One had to have a pic with me. hehe UP THE SAINTS!

Shout out to all the Orlando peeps I met. Hope you guys had a great time.

It was an awesome show and got to meet the legendary Angie and Mich, all the way from Liverpool wrapped in a British flag...what a great time! And sat with bta5857 with her daughter and jbarry (the originator of the Philly 2006 sign gang) It was a sign gang reunion! Mel and Lor, we didn't get to meet as they were at the Oxfam booth...maybe next show!

We were in the sixth row, well, actually the fourth cause there were only like three seats in the first row and five or six in the second row on the ends. So close... was really totally unreal! Chris kept reading all of our signs ...we had alot of different funny stuff. We had him laughing to himself each time. That was worth making all of them. Tons and tons of butterflies covered everything... that was pretty dramatic!

The encore started and out came the band in Orlando Magic jerseys ... were really nice blue with long purple sleeves with their personal name on back...Orlando loves Coldplay and Coldplay must love Orlando... second time they took off their shirts and threw them to the crowd. Chris threw his to a young boy who got moved from somewhere up high to the first row and made some nice thumbs up gestures to him during the show. Then at the end he went directly to the boy to give him his shirt and some stupid guy jumped in front and snatched the shirt and Chris yelled at the guy "Ah, c'mon!" and Chris had a disappointed look as he really wanted the kid to have it. Orlando show rocks once again!

Now it's onward for the second leg of Florida... to Ft. Lauderdale... Coldplay Shines in the Florida Sun! :sunny:

Coldplay has fun at Amway Arena

Despite its success, Coldplay is perhaps destined to remain the poor man’s U2.

In a spirited performance on Friday at Amway Arena, however, the band enlivened its grand songs with an obvious sense of frivolity. With self-importance scraped away, the band is easier to like.

"Whatever you’re doing, do it with enjoyment," singer Chris Martin told the packed house in the early going. He was obviously ready to follow his own advice.

For 90 minutes, Martin was a kinetic presence, bouncing around, taking big looping waist-high strides, falling to his knees and rolling on his back as if he were Bruce Springsteen. After addressing the band’s new Viva La Vida album in the opening moments with a somewhat moody "Violet Hill," the band offered a crowd-pleasing dip into the hits.

"Clocks" elicited one of many sing-alongs, although the real highlight was the harmonies on stage between Martin and drummer Will Champion.

It was Champion’s hard-pounding beat that introduced "In My Place," another song that allowed Martin to release energy. Thrusting his arms skyward, he savored leading the crowd in yet another anthemic chorus. In a big finish, he collapsed to his knees and rolled over on his back.

Each time the melodrama threatened to become too much, Martin was ready with a nod or a wink. Several times, he expressed astonishment at the raucous reception:

"Are you sure you didn’t get us confused with the Jonas Brothers?" he asked.

At one point, the band left the stage to perform acoustically in a section of the lower bowl. There, Martin was sassy again, crediting John McCain’s "Joe the Plumber" with writing "The Scientist."

"We asked him if he would share the wealth with us," Martin told the crowd, "but he refused. So he was out of the band."

If the band’s approach was exuberant and fun, the elaborate stage setting was beautiful. Above the audience, there were beams from multi-colored lasers as well as half a dozen giant orange orbs that framed wild graphics and images of the band members.

And don’t forget the massive confetti drop of shiny paper butterflies that left the floor a colorful mess for the encore of "Yellow."

Yeah, that song is perhaps as vapid as it gets, but the whimsy fit nicely.

It wasn’t a grand statement, in the U2 mold, but something equally fine:

It was a spectacle and it was fun.

[Coldplay Oxfam Blog] What a difference a day makes

22:45, 6th November 2008. Orlando, Amway Arena. The arena empties out. Orlando Magic 98 - 88 Philadelpiha 76ers. The court in the center is shiny. Smooth under all those squeeking sneakers. Giant figures leave the court. Sweatbands are off to be rung out. Cheerleaders bound off, with white toothed smiles across their faces. Scoreboard is flashing. Disco ball is rotating. Magic’s mascot is circulating. TV crew are out doing reviews of the game for the audience at home. Charles Barkley (NBA, Suns & Sixers legend, who also used to slam dunks on my Super Nintendo in his spare time), packs his papers court-side to leave (or at least I think it was him..).

10:45, 7th November 2008. Orlando, Amway Arena. Is this the same arena? Squeeking floor nowhere to be seen. No hoops. No mascot. No crowd to cheerlead. Instead - cases. Lots of cases. Cables hanging from points high in the arena. Catwalks *(under construction). Amp stacks waiting to be lifted. Forklifts beeping. Bags full of butterfly confetti. Roadies dressed in black (beards across their faces).

22:45, 7th November 2008. As if by (Orlando) magic.. the stage is being torn down again. Coldplay have left the building.. just as those giants did. Butterflies, plastic cups and popcorn cartons are being swept. Floor chairs removed. Cables are being tied. Trucks are reversing in, being filled, and bolted shut. Oxfam volunteers gather around the last table standing. More than 550 people signed up tonight with Oxfam America. One more Coldplay show. Hundreds more Oxfammers out there. Maybe some of them will be back soon as volunteers themselves. No hand-clappers needed tonight. No cheerleaders required. Jonny, Will, Chris and Guy took the stage for ’Yellow’, clad in personalised Orlando Magic basketball tops. That was the closest we got to the night before. Those were thrown to the crowd. And we were back to a Coldplay show.

Amazing how these tours roll on. We are now back on the bus, waiting for our 5am bus call. One of the lighting guys just got on the bus.

“What’s happening in the world at large?”

“Oh, you know, just enjoying my morning in the parking lot.. in.. wherever it is we are..”

See you in the next place. Pete.

It took me 2 hours to get ready this morning. I tried on so many different black outfits and finally found the one. I need my girls with me at times like these. I need the truth! "That makes you look fat..or that dress just isn't going to cut it." I had to fend for myself this morning and I hated it. I hope I have on the right thing, just in case I meet Chris Martin...he he

Tonight is the night I have been waiting for ever since I was 16 years old. Coldplay is in Orlando, and Jim and I are so excited. I'm still in shock that I will see them tonight. The truth hasn't set in. Maybe when I set down in my seat and they come out on stage is when I know it's really happening, I might have to pinch myself. I hope I'm not one of those crazy fans that start crying the minute they start singing. I know Jim will walk up and find another seat if that's the case.

We are making a night out of it, before the concert were headed to HUE, a restaurant in downtown where we will toast to Coldplay. I already know what I'm getting! Pan Seared Maple Leaf Duck Breast, Asian BBQ,Stir Fried Vegetable Pearl Pasta, Pickled Ginger.
