Burnley nearly qualified for Europe via the Fair Play League last year :laugh3:

Which shows it needs to be scrapped.

Have you seen what they take into account in that league too? It's so easily manipulated and strays too far away from simply yellow/red cards.

It's a joke, just like the time Millwall qualified for Europe as F.A. Cup runners-up.:dozey:

I heard about that. Most immature thing a player can do. He is the most unprofessional player I've seen in a while and I really dislike him (Cassano is one who I dislike too).

it is weird though. I admire Totti and Gattuso, but I think it is just because they are great players, they give their all and they are loyal to their club. I hate it when they do something stupid like what Gattuso did in the Tottenham match.

I've never liked Materazzi much either.

Big fan of Gattuso. Although his behaviour at the end of the Tottenham match was stupid. Bigger fan of Pirlo though.

Except maybe for shooting an apprentice with an airgun........................

Ah...

That Ashley Cole...

I hate that guy with a passion. What a prick. He is one of the players I hate the most.

Pirlo is amazing. Some reports were saying he is going to be a free market this summer and he is going to Juventus. We'll see though. Pirlo isn't going to improve anymore and Aquilani would be the better deal but he hasn't been as exceptional as he was at the start of the season. It all depends on how much money we get at the end.

1-0 to Man Utd. Hernandez. Not surprising. Chelsea's midfield have been nothing short of abysmal. Essien, Ramires and espeically Malouda have been utterly dire and if I was a Chelsea fan I would not want to see either pull on a blue shirt again.

And Torres has got as much chance of scoring in this game as I have of finding the Holy Grail under my bed. He's been shocking yet again.

You can actually keep Aquilani! A very decent player but I was horrified when Rafa bought him to replace Xabi Alonso and he was injured until November by which time the season was destroyed in the league and in the Champions League as well. It was a very very poor signing. I doubt Kenny Dalglish is desperate to have him back (that's if Dalglish is to remain as Liverpool manager next season or if rumours are to be believed that Andre Villas Boas will be signing a contract). Pretty sure Dalglish has different plans for Liverpool.

Chelsea's best chance of getting back into this is to have a real go at O'Shea who looks fragile, another bad tackle will see him off.

Drogba and Park scores...

Manchester U 2 - 1 Chelsea

Champions League Semifinals (unless some miracle happens)

Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Schalke vs Manchester United

I hate Materazzi and I'm an Inter supporter, shows how high my opinion of him is:laugh3:.

Honestly, only some really biased Italian fans I know like him. I don't know why though.

The player I like the most from Inter is Zanetti, what a captain. I also like Ranocchia, Pazzini, Eto'o, Samuel, Cambiasso, Motta, Nagatomo and Maicon :)

Zanetti is my favourite player too, he is a class act and even tends to get respect from Milan fans which says alot!, I think Pazzini was a good buy and he seems to be working out so far and I like Eto'o and Snijder alot too(although hes rumoured to be leaving for Man Utd:cry:), I'm not a fan of Chivu at all, after the punching incident I really felt he was an embarasment to the club.

Have either of you read the book Calcio: A History of Italian Football by John Foot? I'm reading it at the moment and it's fantastic.

Anyone care to explain to me why Didier Drogba didn't start?

Anyone care to explain to me why Didier Drogba didn't start?

They've been subbing him in for torres for quite awhile now, splitting the game about 50/50. Presumably they're trying to strike a balance between giving their investment a chance to prove himself, and if he fails to score (everytime), falling back on their safety net. To be fair, Torres has been a bit unlucky since coming to Chelsea. He's been far from brilliant, but should've had at least a couple goals based on the work he's put in.

Why not start him alongside Torres? Or play Drogba the entire game and bench that waste of money/bring him in as a sub in the last 15 minutes.

Man Utd boss Ferguson backs Torres to shine for Chelsea

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Fernando Torres to be a hit at Chelsea despite failing again during the 2-1 Champions League loss at Manchester United.

The £50m signing has not scored since his move in January and was substituted at half-time as the Blues exited at the last-eight stage, 3-1 on aggregate.

"I didn't see how they could leave him out having signed him for that much money," said United boss Ferguson.

"It's not working at moment but he's young and there are more seasons."

Ferguson added: "Chelsea had an opportunity to sign Torres and I can't think of a club that would not have wanted the striker. It was a fantastic bit of business."

Much was made of Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti's decision to start with Torres ahead of Didier Drogba.

Asked if he had made a mistake playing Torres instead of Drogba, the Italian said: "Maybe. Could be. I told you a lot of times this season I wanted to start with Fernando for this kind of game, these type of tactics.

He added: "Didier played well in the second half. I wanted to put more pressure up front because we needed to score. Didier was fresh and he could use his power up front. This was the reason I took out Fernando."

I might get hold of that. I read a book on Brazilian footballers a few years ago and really enjoyed it, and a book on the history of Barcelona which was great too. I haven't read one in a while.

Anyone seen the documentary on Bert Trautmann? Very interesting. Starts with his days in the Hitler Youth.

Torres will be back. January moves are tricky, but once he starts scoring he'll be back to being a £30mil player again. He'll never be worth 50 though.
