ย

ย

All those small fry debt ridden clubs..there gonna be wishing for the call come tomorrow morning..

ย

We will have another world superstar at the coms regardless of these reported realistic targets. Come the end of Jan.. At the end of the day there is 100 million quid to spend just for the Jan Transfeer window alone, and next summer we are going to buy everyone... with the special one... !!

OK Hughes will get my backing till the end of the season.

From it was announced Hughes was going to be the next City manager I was always opposed. Not only for his days playing for the swampmire and being a really dirty cheating rotten bโ€ฆ.rad. When he was at Blackburn he was mainly lucky, always playing defensive football who always seemed to get jammy.

ย

For starters, he managerial career Wales, well you could but daffy duck in charge of them and always depend on them failing to qualify for a major championship i.e. the world cup,

So a half a result against minnows such as Iceland etc is hardly any sort of achievement.

ย

Since he has came to City he seems to be desperate to make us fail,

1. Has ruined what a fantastic player Micah Richards was last seasonโ€ฆ. Please tell me how can you play a right side and footed player as left back when you have left backs at your disposal.

ย

2. How can you play Shaun Wright Phillips in the centre when he is better of playing as a right winger.

ย

3. How can even think of including such players like Vassel AKA (Forest Gump) over the likes of Jo

ย

4. How can keep playing such in experinced players like Sturrige, albeit I am for youth development but when your struggling you need players in the team that have the experience to deal with such situations.

ย

5. Dunne, Do I need to say more. I have been now saying since last season and the Dr had early dreams of taking us to the next level. He is not good enough.

Thus far this season he has cost us at least 10 points in the premiership and needs to shoulder most of the blame for today's pantomime.

Please also remember he almost cost us our place in Europe when he got in himself sent of in the 8-1 Humiliation against Middlesbrough. How is he rewarded for it.. He is installed as Captain.

ย

6. We have Billions at our disposal quite literary we could almost buy every player in the world with the money we have, we have Teams of the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea having the status of being our Feeder clubs, why are we in the position we are. Surely it cant be all the players faults, apart from Dunne because he is overweight buffoon

ย

Please its my new year wish. We need to get rid of Hughes ASAP. Install Casell as a Caretaker manager until we can get a manager with some decent clout about him. Bring back Sven I say, bring on the Special one..But this idiot in Hughes has one Policy only to make City fail. Once a part of the swampmire always.. He wants us to fail ! He is a Rag Though and Though !

ย

I am VERY DISSPOINTED WITH TODAYS RESULT ASHAMED UPSET WORDS CAN NOT BE WRITTEN !

Well done to the 2-time European cup champions (the only team to win the European cup [champs league] more times than the domestic championship, and IIRC the last team to successfully defend the European cup. So Daryl, it's nothing to be ashamed off, getting beaten by Notts Forest.

I think we will keep all FA Cup action stuff in this thread Ian.

ย

Angie won't like that, her beloved Southampton losing to Man Utd, who have Spurs (again) in the next round

I was impressed we only lost 3-0. The way we have played of late, Old Red Face should have been able to field a team of stewards and grounds keepers and still beat us 5-0. :dozey: Rupert out!

ย

So the Spuds are rebuying Defoe. 'Arry gotta get that bung money. :P

Richards has been played at left back and Defensive Midfield and Sweeper ( he is a right back) This is when Hughes has had other players who are more naturally gifted in the postion to play them there. He is a right back. I think Richards was having a dig at him the other day in his press statement about his dip in form this season by saying " I would love a run of games at full back "

ย

I think Jo personally is a fantastic player, but I do rememebre when I went to see city of XMAS as soon as he come on City fans was on his back, however he has gone on to put in a offical complaint about Hughes for reasons I donโ€™t know. But I did seem him on the TV against Pompey and Sunderland and he looked liked to have the potential to be tomorrows Ronaldidho and Luisยดs face lights up when his name is mentioned.. Any south american reckons he is a fantastic player.

ย

Micheal Johnson was supposed to be a Future Elect England Captian donยดt know what has happened to him, today its been reported that we are going to swap him for Parker who does not even feature in the England Squad with Money on top.. So there is a point in my book now there is some sort of conspicary for Hughes us to send us down to destory the team and as regards of him ambitious purported targets Bellamay when we have the likes of Tervez beggin for a club who is willing to pay him the most money (hint hint.. Please come and get me city )

Rafa's Rant!

ย

_45361429_ben_fergie466pa.jpg

ย

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has launched a furious attack on Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson. Benitez claims that Ferguson is "the only manager who will not be punished" for verbally attacking referees.

ย

"We had a Respect campaign meeting and I said forget it, because Mr Ferguson is killing the referees," said Benitez.

ย

Benitez was responding to Ferguson's midweek comment that nerves might ruin Liverpool's title bid, before issuing his tirade against the United boss. Ferguson, who was given a two-game touchline ban and fined ยฃ10,000 in November for remonstrating with referee Mike Dean, had his pre-match news conference before Benitez's and was unable to immediately reply.

ย

Benitez's extraordinary outburst came after a journalist asked Benitez for his response to Ferguson suggesting that Premier League leaders Liverpool might get nervous in the run-in.

ย

"I was surprised by what has been said, but maybe they (Manchester United) are nervous because we are at the top of the table," added Benitez.

ย

The Spaniard then pulled out a sheet of paper and read out a list of accusations about Ferguson's conduct regarding referees, the FA's Respect campaign and fixture lists.

ย

The Respect campaign is the FA's programme of activities to combat unacceptable behaviour in the game at every level, both on the pitch and from the sidelines, which began in August last year.

ย

"I want to talk about facts," said Benitez. "I want to be clear, I do not want to play mind games too early, although they seem to want to start. During the Respect campaign - and this is a fact - Mr Ferguson was charged by the FA for improper conduct after comments made about Martin Atkinson and Keith Hackett. He was not punished. He is the only manager in the league that cannot be punished for these things. How can you talk about the Respect campaign and yet criticise the referee every single week? We know what happens every time we go to Old Trafford and the United staff. They are always going man-to-man with the referees, especially at half-time when they walk close to the referees and they are talking and talking. :snore: All managers need to know is that only Mr Ferguson can talk about the fixtures, can talk about referees - and nothing happens. "We need to know that I am talking about facts, not my impression. There are things that everyone can see every single week. To complain and to always have an advantage is not fair." [/i]

ย

Benitez also heavily criticised Ferguson's complaints over supposed favouritism over fixtures. Two years ago we had a lot of early kick-offs away on Saturdays when United were playing on Sundays. And we didn't say anything," said the Reds boss. Now he is complaining about everything, that everybody is against United. But the second half of the season will see them playing at home against all the teams at the top of the table, it is a fantastic advantage. At Christmas, United played on the 29th and the rest of the teams played on the 28th. We were away against Newcastle two days after playing Bolton. They were playing about 40 hours later, but they were not complaining then. If he wants to talk about fixtures, and have a level playing field, there are two options if we don't want more problems with fixtures. One is the same as in Spain, the draw for the first part of the league is known, everyone knows which weekend. :snore: In the second half everyone plays the opposite, so you all know. Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United. Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

ย

Meanwhile, Benitez has also revealed his disappointment that negotiations over a new contract are progressing slowly.

ย

"My agent has not yet received any documents, and he is a little disappointed," said the former Valencia boss. But OK, we will see what happens. I do not want to say too much at the moment."

Man Utd 3-0 Chelsea

Vidic and Giggs celebrate the Serbian's opening goal just before half-time

ย

Manchester United turned up the heat on Premier League leaders Liverpool and manager Rafael Benitez as they closed the gap at the top of the table with a convincing win against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

ย

Nemanja Vidic headed United in front in first half injury time after Dimitar Berbatov flicked on Ryan Giggs's corner.

ย

Wayne Rooney then turned in Patrice Evra's cross after 63 minutes to set United on the path to a deserved three points - leaving them five points behind Liverpool with two games in hand.

ย

Dimitar Berbatov rounded off the win by grabbing the third from close range four minutes from time, turning in Cristiano Ronaldo's free-kick as United's fans finally sensed their title charge was hitting top gear.

ย

Sir Alex Ferguson will regard the victory as the perfect response to public taunts from Liverpool counterpart Benitez that United may be "a little bit scared" at the sight of their great rivals at the Premier League summit.

ย

United were not at their free-flowing best in a game that was too stop-start to be of the highest quality, but they showed none of the fear Benitez might have been hoping to detect.

ย

And if this weekend was the start of psychological warfare between Benitez and Ferguson, there is no doubting that it is United's boss who has taken the first round.

ย

They were vastly superior to a Chelsea side that lacked cutting edge, despite coach Luiz Felipe Scolari pairing Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba together up front after the break.

ย

It may also make Benitez question the timing and content of his tirade against United and Ferguson - who appeared inspired rather than deflated by the remarks coming from down the East Lancashire Road.

ย

For Scolari, it was a sobering afternoon when he received further confirmation that he needs to inject threat, particularly in the shape of more width, into his Chelsea side.

ย

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho watched from the stands in readiness for Inter Milan's Champions League clash with United. He will have been dismayed at how Chelsea failed to trouble Edwin van der Sar and ended up losing so lifelessly.

ย

Ferguson sprang a selection surprise by leaving Michael Carrick on the bench and choosing to go with veteran Giggs in midfield, while Drogba was handed Chelsea's lone striking role.

ย

Referee Howard Webb was in the spotlight after Benitez's blast about Ferguson and officials - and he showed his intent to clamp down quickly with a third minute booking for Frank Lampard after he fouled Ronaldo.

ย

It set the tone for a scrappy first 45 minutes that only truly burst into life in the closing stages as United finally exerted a measure of supremacy.

ย

Giggs tested Petr Cech with a powerful free-kick that Chelsea's goalkeeper pushed to safety, before referee Webb produced another flurry of yellow cards.

ย

He booked Chelsea's Jose Bosingwa for a foul on Rooney, quickly followed by Portugal team-mates Ronaldo and Ricardo Carvalho for a penalty area clash.

ย

Berbatov has yet to win the hearts and minds of Manchester United supporters, and they were frustrated when he wasted their best chance after 30 minutes, shooting tamely at Cech after he had been played in by Rooney.

ย

John Terry - taunted mercilessly by United's fans as a result of his miss in the penalty shoot-out in the Champions League final - then rescued Chelsea with a brilliant tackle on Ji-Sung Park as he looked poised to slide home Ronaldo's pass.

ย

There was a flurry of action and controversy in the closing seconds of the half that led to United taking the lead.

ย

Ronaldo's header was ruled out from Giggs' cross after Rooney had taken a short corner that went virtually unnoticed anyone inside the stadium.

ย

United were furious, but their pain was eased when the re-taken corner from Giggs was flicked on by Berbatov for Vidic to head in at the far post. The diving Cech got a hand on his effort but failed to keep it out.

ย

It threw the pressure back on Chelsea to take the initiative away from United, and Scolari responded by replacing the lightweight Deco with Anelka at the re-start.

ย

Chelsea enjoyed a period of possession without posing any serious threat, and were the hit with a killer blow when Rooney added United's second after 63 minutes.

ย

Ronaldo's flick released Evra on the left flank, and when his cross avoided Terry and Berbatov, Rooney poked a foot beyond Ashley Cole to beat Cech.

ย

It was Evra's last act as he limped off, to be replaced by John O'Shea.

ย

Chelsea never mounted any serious response, and it was no surprise when the unmarked Berbatov slid in Ronaldo's free-kick late on to set the seal on a hugely satisfying afternoon for United and Ferguson.

ย

It was a statement of intent that will left the confrontational Benitez and Liverpool looking nervously over their shoulders after a win that would have increased United's belief that they can retain their crown.
