He played in my football team before he went to Chelsea and he was pretty much like you described it. He was very good coming forward with the ball but sometimes he neglected his defensive responsabilities (lucky for us, Luisão was always in the right place to help!). Those offensive iniciatives were always very useful in low intensity games!

They spent £75 million on those two players last January and Chelsea haven't improved one bit! Eye watering stuff!

Goal scoring opportunity my arse!! One of the stupidest regulations to come out of fifa in the last 10yrs... and there have been a few. In the box you're punished twice, out of the box its just utterly inconsistent. :veryangry2:

In his last complete season in Benfica, he played almost all the games normally during 90 minutes, so I think he was more useful in Benfica than he is now in Chelsea because, as far as I know, he don't play regularly. And yes, Torres was a great deal for Liverpool!

All the local derbies are played in the final round, but I want to talk about a specific match: the Belo Horizonte derby. The Belo Horizonte derby is played between Cruzeiro and Atlético Mineiro. Cruzeiro was fighthing against the relegation (they'd never been relegated before). Atlético couldn't achieve anything in the league, but they were expected to want to beat their rivals and relegate them. This was posted by an Atlético supporters in an Orkut community two days before the derby. It said: "This morning I took a cab. The driver was an Atlético supporter too, and we talked about the derby. He also said that, earlier this morning, he took a Cruzeiro director to the downtown. This Cruzeiro director told the driver that it was all set up, that there had been a meeting between Zezé Perrella (Cruzeiro chairman), Alexandre Kalil (Atlético chairman) and Ricardo Guimarães (BMG Bank president, company that sponsors both teams), in which they agreed that Atlético would lose the derby on purpose and BMG would buy them Diego Tardelli (a player who already played for Atlético)." He wasn't exactly a director, he was more of a "counselor". In Brazil, the teams aren't company-owned. They are independent non-profit organizations. Each team has a deliberative board with about 300 counselors, where they discuss and vote internal matters. I don't find it that crazy a counselor talking about football corruption with a taxi driver. The most absurd part of it is the chairman of a team willing to lose a game on purpose in order to HELP a rival team. I've seen teams lose on purpose in order to stop a rival team of achieving something in a few opportunities, but I've never seen the opposite.

Not a bad season at all. Shame they didn't win the League though, I really wanted them to. They're a good team, no doubt about that.
