November 5, 201114 yr Man City I think are a growing and growing club and the field and off it!. There's more bitter people than ever with a team when they get success. It's like a band finally breaking into the mainstream, the publications who liked them before, start to scorn on them. Anyways, my heart was racing like mad today watching that Liverpool - Swansea game on a stream and wearing my away shirt with tons of strong drinks next to me!. I was at the end shouting "Come on Vorm!, catch it!", only to rightfully roll it out afters to a nearby player and then the team played keepball, which ran down the clock and won us our point!!. It's games like these that make your debut season in the Prem a memorable one. When I was at the City of Manchester Stadium, I was just enjoying the occasion knowing we wouldn't win, but today we have grown. My two cents worth on the game........... Brilliant defending, excellent man marking and the attacking was really on the ball, not to mention the counter attacks we did about twice or three times. The only problem was we didn't score from either of them, but it's the huge occasion that can get to you during these goalscoring opportunites, what with feeling the heat to score when you have that keeper and the goal in front of you. Reina made some very good saves anyway, not many goalies in the Prem would have saved those, especially that one when he spotted Danny Graham's run and came out to block the resulting shot when the ball was making it's way through to him. Every free kick my heart pounded, and every shot too not forgetting my relief when Massey raised her offisde flag against Kyut!. She got that spot on. When that final whistle went, I was grinning from ear to ear. Once again, proud to be a Jack by following on a proud family tradition of Swans fans!.

November 10, 201114 yr I'm horrified, it gives more fuel to the fire to those conspiracy theorists who believe that Ashley's actually attempting to sabotage Newcastle United. Now before the international break and playing 3 out of the top 4 (City away, United away and Chelsea at home- so top 3 not including ourselves) this will cause such unrest, I know there will be protests organised outside the ground, possibly over the weekend. It's a disgrace. All of this is being down to generate 8-10million pounds?! If we're going to start breaking down the club for spare parts we can make a lot more earnings then that by doing various other less shambolic things. The only hope is that they are saying it won't permanently be known as SportsDirect, its more like an advertising space right now, to show potential advertisers the possibility that they could use it. If they don't get a big enough interest from other advertisers its likely to go back to being St. James Park.

An extra 10 million pounds is not so hard to chase in the Premier League, and it's even more ridiculous considering that a half decent owner would have exploited more out of where Newcastle are positioned at the moment. Newcastle are a very marketable brand in football but that isn't being realised at the moment. The poor ownership makes their form this season even more remarkable.

I remember reading Kenny's autobiography and how he went to see Paul play in the MLS Cup (final I think it was) in 2006 and said how nervous he was in wanting Paul to win the trophy with them. He said something along the lines that it was one of his proudest moments and this is a man who won it all with Liverpool! He clearly cared deeply about his son and that team winning.

I know it all boils down to unwillingness for entrepreneurs and cities to make the investment, but there's something fundamentally wrong about there being 3 teams in california (two sharing the same stadium), three in Canada (including Montreal) while the whole southeast really has nothing. I mean, I support the local NPSL team, but its kind of sad that the next team will probably be the New York Cosmos, with the league already almost full up. /rant over. November 18, 201114 yr Sepp Blatter says sorry for comments on racism Sepp Blatter has told the BBC he is sorry for causing offence with his controversial comments on racism. The Fifa president appeared to suggest on Wednesday that racial discrimination could be settled with a handshake. "It hurts and I am still hurting because I couldn't envisage such a reaction," said the 75-year-old Swiss. "When you have done something which was not totally correct, I can only say I am sorry for all those people affected by my declarations." Blatter insisted his "fight against racism and discrimination will go on" and said he would not resign, despite calls for him to quit by numerous British players, managers, administrators and politicians. "I cannot resign," he told BBC sports editor David Bond in an exclusive interview. "Why should I? "When you are faced with a problem you have to face the problem. To leave would be totally unfair and not compatible with my fighting spirit, my character, my energy." Blatter admitted his comments had caused a "serious incident" and that he had used "unfortunate words" which he "deeply regretted". He also said any players found guilty of racism on the pitch should be thrown out of the game. "Zero tolerance," he said. "This was a good lesson for me as well." Blatter's comments about racism, made earlier in the week, caused consternation in England. Manchester United defender and former England captain Rio Ferdinand accused the Fifa president of "ignorance", while David Beckham described Blatter's remarks as "appalling". Beckham added: "I don't think the comments were very good for this game. [Racism] can't be swept under the carpet and it can't be sorted out with just a handshake." Blatter tried to clarify his stance when speaking to Fox Soccer on Thursday but his interview with the BBC is the clearest acknowledgement yet that his comments caused offence. Tokyo Sexwale, the South African minister included in a photo with Blatter when Fifa put out a statement on Wednesday night saying the Swiss's comments had been misunderstood, commented: "It is important that such conduct [racism on the pitch] is rooted out from the field of play without any equivocation. "Nevertheless I am satisfied to state that I had a telephone conversation with Mr Blatter [on Friday morning]. He indicated that he would be issuing a statement to apologise without any reservation. It takes a big man to say 'I'm sorry'. In Fifa, we kick the football and not the man." Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas believes Blatter's apology should be the end of the issue. "To put in doubt the leadership of Sepp Blatter as Fifa president is not for me to say or managers to say," he said. "Blatter made his apologies today and end of story. When a person assumes he has made a mistake, it's for all of us to accept a mistake was made. "There are things that should have been avoided in the first place. But at least there is humility." Everton boss David Moyes criticised the timing of Blatter's comments and called for the Football Association (FA) to speed up their disciplinary process. "The comments were completely wrong and misplaced, especially when we have one or two things currently going on in this country," he said. "Maybe if it [the FA's investigations into allegations that John Terry and Luis Suarez made racist remarks] had been dealt with a bit quicker, Sepp Blatter would not have made the comments or the question would not have been asked of him. Or, maybe, he would have answered in a different way." Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says there is an agenda in England against Blatter, but condemned the Fifa president's initial comments. "I think there is a personal battle between the papers and Sepp Blatter and Fifa. There is some bitterness as well from the last World Cup decision," said Wenger. "But that all does not mean that Blatter can say we do not have to punish racist comments. I think you have to. I am for zero tolerance." Reacting to Blatter's apology, FA chairman David Bernstein said it was the right move. "Mr Blatter has made it clear he will not resign but his apology today was necessary," he commented. "His initial comments were wrong and irresponsible. "As I have said many times in the past, with power comes responsibility and I - with others in prominent positions in the game - have to make sure we live up to the values of which we speak. "I am mindful that - this week's comments aside - Fifa as an organisation does much good work around the world." David Davies, a former acting chief executive of the FA, said Blatter's apology was "fulsome" and agreed it was the correct thing to do. "It's churlish not to welcome someone saying sorry for the offence they have caused," he said. "He basically thinks that resigning would be weakness, though, and there are not calls from around the world for that to happen." In his interview with the BBC, Blatter also addressed the recent poppy controversy involving the England national team. The FA wanted to embroider a red poppy on to players' shirts for the friendly with world champions Spain to mark Remembrance Day. But it was prevented from doing so by Fifa, which argued that such a move would set a dangerous precedent. Asked whether he would apologise for any offence caused, Blatter said: "Yes, sure. If I had been informed on the first day of such a demand, I would have immediately said 'yes'. Full stop." Former Chelsea player Paul Elliott, who is involved with anti-racism group Kick It Out, said Blatter had been put in a position where he had to apologise. "Blatter is a very astute individual," said Elliott. "He knows he's been backed into a corner. We can only take the apology in good faith and move on. "The comments were out of order. You're talking about a global leader here. People hang on their words. At the top end of the game, there's got to be zero tolerance. Nobody is above the law. "I was involved in the 2018 bid. I can see the way that could be spun as mitigation [for people saying there's an agenda against Blatter]. But I don't share that view." Rich Mkhondo helped to organise the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and dealt with Blatter and Sexwale. Discussing Blatter, he said: "He was a very pleasant man but sometimes he's a loose cannon and a scud missile. He says things that can be controversial. Sometimes he doesn't think about them. "Everyone knows in their inner-self if they believe they're superior. It's not for me to say if he's racist. "But, while we were in South Africa, he was very committed and he fought for that, for the World Cup coming to the continent. November 19, 201114 yr If any other business runs at a loss of £200 odd million questions will be asked about how it can keep going, I can't wait for the fair-play rules to bring football clubs back in line with not making massive losses year by year. One day the money will run out and Man City will go bust (again). Go on Premiership Big 6, shuffle off and form your European Super-League with the other big teams in Europe, leave the premiership so that some other teams have hopes of winning it 500 Billion is quite a lot to spend mate. This is what the owners family is worth. In addition the ownwers have been the ones bailing out a lot of countries, maybe not directly, but indirectly. So just even think that student loan you pay some of it will be going to city, not just the petrol and the lights you use !!
