Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says fans saw the "real" Gareth Bale during his team's 7-3 win over Sevilla at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

The former Tottenham player bounced back from a disappointing performance against Barcelona at the weekend to score twice.

Ancelotti said: "He played really well, showing fantastic skills. It takes time to adapt but it was a necessity. Now he doesn't have problems physically and he is improving his confidence, so he will be very important for us in the future. Tonight everyone saw the real Gareth."

GOAL - Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea - Yoan Gouffran (68 mins)

Yohan Cabaye trots across to consult with manager Alan Pardew before delivering a free-kick right onto the forehead of Yoan Gouffran who stoops to nod the ball past a helpless Petr Cech.

The Magpies have deserved it on the back of the last 10 minutes.

GOAL- Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea - Loic Remy

Heading to the corner flag looked like the shrewd tactic as Newcastle break upfield. Vurnon Anita had other ideas. Cutting in off the flank, he lays the ball into the path of Loic Remy who wraps his foot around a low shot that cannons in off the inside of the post. Game over.

What on earth has Martin Jol been coaching to his team? Abysmal manager. As I said back in August - Fulham could do well with someone other than Martin Jol as their manager. But fair play to Man Utd - making a dodgy defence look even worse.

Pretty much. There's not a single Fulham fan who would've preferred Senderos to Hughes. Senderos has been in some part responsible for each goal this game, and historically, he's allowed more goals than any Fulham striker has scored in a season. He committed a worse howler no less than 4 days ago. But even then, why the hell Jol would insist on such a high line is beyond me. The team has disappointed in every single game this season, we didn't even control the play against Crystal Palace.

(Big sigh)

Anyway, other highlights.

Sunderland have absolutely lost the plot in a game they actually have a chance of getting a result. Two red cards on two absolutely vicious challenges.

Also, Begovic pulling a Tim Howard, only from further away.

Arsenal 2 Liverpool 0 - FT. Arsenal outplayed Liverpool in all areas. No complaints.

And you thought Senderos was bad then just watch Cissokho. Appalling first half, so bad that he had to be taken off at half time for Coutinho. Never thought I'd see a player that would make Djimi Traore look like Paolo Maldini. Slow, lagging, uncommitted and had the grace and maneuverability of a cross channel ferry. Utter shite performance!

Man City putting on some style to trash Norwich 7-0, bouncing back from being defeated against Chelsea.

Meanwhile Salisbury won 4-1 against Hereford, earning them some nice TV money from BT Sport, to go up to the playoff places, pretty tight those play-off places.

Blackburn Rovers report £36.5m loss after Premier League exit

Blackburn Rovers report £36.5m loss after Premier League exit

Blackburn Rovers have posted an annual pre-tax loss of £36.5m following their relegation from the Premier League in 2012 - compared with the £4.3m profit made a year earlier.

Their accounts reveal a £27.3m drop in turnover and a 136.1% wages-to-turnover ratio for the year ending June 2013.

They also show the club's net debt has risen from £24.5m to £54.5m. "We can't keep these type of losses up. It is very, very difficult," said managing director Derek Shaw.

The Championship club, who were bought by Indian poultry giant Venky's in November 2010, recorded an operating loss of £24.3m before player trading after losing their top-flight status.

In an attempt to secure an immediate Premier League return Blackburn's 2012 summer signings included Jordan Rhodes for in the region of £8m, Leon Best, Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu, resulting in an £11.7m player trading loss.

"Moving from the Premier League to the Championship is very tough. It is a difficult balancing act because we still need to invest in the team in our attempts to get back to the Premier League," said Shaw.

"We spent a lot of money on new players trying to get promotion and we all know that did not work.

"We are making efforts but because certain players have gone there are compensation figures to pay. It will take quite a while to fully address."

The accounts show £23.2m of the reduction in turnover is related to a loss in income from the Premier league, while they have lost £1.1m in ticket sales with average league attendances dropping from 22,551 to 14,997.

New Financial Fair Play rules mean Championship clubs are permitted to make a loss of £8m this season, with those who fail to comply set to face sanctions from the Football League.

In the accounts statement, Shaw wrote: "Although promotion remains the key aim, achieving this while also trying to meet Financial Fair Play requirements will be a challenging task for all football clubs.

"Business risks identified include reduced income from parachute payments in 2014-15 and 2015-16 and the potential sanction from non compliance with the FFP rules."

Since relegation from the Premier League in 2012, Blackburn have had four permanent managers. They finished 17th in the Championship last season.

UK: Champions League - BT Sport win £897m football rights deal

UK: Champions League - BT Sport win £897m football rights deal

BT Sport has announced an exclusive £897m three-year deal which will end two decades of live Champions League football on terrestrial TV.

The broadcaster has won the rights to show all 350 matches each season from 2015 after talks with European governing body Uefa. A spokesman said it had "shaken up the UK TV market" and would make some games. including finals, free to air.

The news is a major blow to Sky and ITV, who currently share the rights. It is the first time a single UK broadcaster has won the exclusive live rights to all matches from the two tournaments, BT announced in a statement. Chief executive Gavin Patterson said: "I am thrilled that BT Sport will be the only place where fans can enjoy all the live action from the Champions League and Europa League."

The contract, priced at £299m a season, is worth more than double the current arrangement, which could mean significantly more money for clubs in the two European competitions. Each of the 32 teams in the group phase of the Champions League currently receive a participation payment of £2.8m and £396,000 for every match played thereafter in the group stages. This can grow to £6.5m for the winners, while the runners-up receive £3.73m.

As part of the deal, BT has said it will show at least one match involving each participating British team for free every season.

John Petter, boss of the company's consumer division, told BBC Radio 5 live the new deal would mean customers having to pay for some of the matches.

"These games are going to need to be chargeable, that's true. But they'll be far more affordable than today's competition," he said. "So today, to get the whole competition, you typically have to pay Sky £40 or so a month. The pricing is not being announced today, but I can say that this will be far more affordable than currently".

Sky feels BT paid much more than of its own valuation for the rights to the European matches. A statement from Sky read: "We bid with a clear view of what the rights are worth to us. It seems BT chose to pay far in excess of our valuation.

"There are many ways in which we can invest in our service for customers. We take a disciplined approach and there is always a level at which we will choose to focus on something else. If we thought it was worth more, we'd have paid more. Nothing changes until 2015 and we look forward to 18 more months of live Champions League on Sky Sports. We will now re-deploy resources and continue to bring customers the best choice of TV across our offering."

BT launched its UK sports channels on 1 August 2013 in a challenge to the dominance of sports coverage on Sky. Sky has previously fended off competition from other broadcasters, such as ITV Digital, Setanta and ESPN, after they all entered the pay-TV football market.

BT has already spent £738m over three years for the rights to show 38 live Premier League matches for the 2012-13 season, while Sky paid £2.3bn for 116 matches a season. Other events in the BT portfolio include the rights to Premiership Rugby and motorsports such as Moto GP and Nascar, as well as taking over ESPN's UK sports channels.

Only last week, it said more than two million people had subscribed to its television sports channels since August and reported six month pre-tax profits of £948 million. For its part, Sky announced in October that record numbers had tuned into the start of the football season - with an average audience of 1.55m compared with 1.29m last year.

News of the deal first emerged in Saturday's edition of the Telegraph newspaper, and was confirmed on Twitter by BT Sport at 10:00 GMT.
