busybeeburns
A statement from Sky read: "We bid with a clear view of what the rights are worth to us. It seems BT chose to pay far in excess of our valuation. There are many ways in which we can invest in our service for customers. We take a disciplined approach and there is always a level at which we will choose to focus on something else. If we thought it was worth more, we'd have paid more. Nothing changes until 2015 and we look forward to 18 more months of live Champions League on Sky Sports. We will now re-deploy resources and continue to bring customers the best choice of TV across our offering." lol. management speak for "we're fucking well pissed!" Guest howyousawtheworld
Wow - Sky have got well shafted. Have they reported it on Sky Sports News? Send that empire tumbling down.
Black Rose
They are trying to say that more people watch premiership games and they would rather spend the money on original programs. So more LCD comedy serieses, rubbish dramas etc. Southampton up to 3rd! Ahead of Chelsea who got what sounds like a dodgy penalty near the end. (2nd round of the FA cup for Salisbury, one more win and it could be a golden payday if they get a big premiership team.
bart
I would be slightly concerned if (BT Sport ) will be able to pay for all of this stuff in the future. If I was a club banking on this money coming in I would take out some short of insurance against it just in case (BT sport) struggle to pay them in the future. The cost they are charging their customers will not cover the cost they are paying for the rights.
Black Rose
BT are not like that Irish broadcaster, they will find the money somewhere, probably increasing charges for phones or internet.
bart
I dont think BT the telecoms company would be allowed to help them so much it will be like the branding. As when we had ITV sport digital and it went up the swannie the ITV compaines (telestral )could have bailed them out at the drop of the hat. Also back then ITV never lost the highlights of the premier Leauge at the time, champs leauge etc.

busybeeburns
GOAL - Sunderland 1-0 Man City - Phil Bardsley (21 mins) Sunderland lead! And it's another soft goal to concede for Manchester City, who just can't deal with long balls through the centre can they? Wes Brown pumps it long, Martin Demichelis and James Milner fail to deal with it, allowing Phil Bardsley to get clear. The Scotland man takes aim and finds a delicious finish, curling low into the corner. Was Milner fouled as the ball came over his shoulder? busybeeburns
FULL-TIME- Sunderland 1-0 Man City They've done it! Sunderland beat Manchester City 1-0 for the fourth season in a row. Former Sunderland captain Gary Bennett at Stadium of Light for BBC Radio Newcastle: "What a performance and what a result for Sunderland. Gus Poyet has made a difference. Go through the team's spine and they were all excellent out there. They kept their shape and frustrated Man City, and you've got to say they deserved the win. This is a massive win, because now there's the international break and Sunderland can take this into the games against Stoke and Aston Villa. "There are encouraging signs and a light at the end of the tunnel. There is more belief and confidence, and you could see it out there this afternoon. Even under pressure they created chances. City were poor, but Sunderland made them poor."

busybeeburns
GOAL - Man Utd 1-0 Arsenal - Robin van Persie (27 mins) When zonal marking goes bad. Robin van Persie is allowed to get the run on Olivier Giroud and attack a Wayne Rooney corner, and the former Gunner flicks his header over Kieran Gibbs on the post and into the net. It had to be him.
busybeeburns
Man Utd 1-0 Arsenal Manchester United put the brakes on Arsenal's charge at the top of the table after Robin van Persie's strike gave them victory over their rivals. United took the lead in the 27th minute when the Dutch striker rose above the Arsenal defence to head in Wayne Rooney's corner from the left. Arsenal barely tested keeper David De Gea, with Olivier Giroud going closest when his shot flew two yards wide. The result moves United up to fifth, five points behind Arsenal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24792962
