🌙 COLDPLAY ANNOUNCE MOON MUSIC OUT OCTOBER 4TH 🎵

Reign of Love Appreciation Thread

Recommended Posts

Oh, this is my personal lullaby at the moment, and I'm not even close to being a person in love, heh.

It's just this beautiful, rippling piece that is taking me by the hand while I'm going through what I'm going through.

It's a very hopeful song.

I love this song and I seriously can't imagine anyone hating it. Like Jhostle said, its a Coldplay baby. This song is classic Coldplay. The lyrics are still kinda lame except the last verse "How I wish, I'd spoken up. Or we'd be carried away by the reigh of love" beautiful.

Reign of Love is beautiful, emotional, honest. It's like a cuddle from Chris Martin in the middle of "all that noise and all that sound". I liked it and I like it more every day. I don't know what the lyrics mean exactly but I think this could have been written on the day Chris went to a funeral on a boat and he was so exhausted he fell asleep on the way back. I think the song is about loss. Anyone care to explain the lyrics line by line? I think they're rather complicated, not easy at all.

i think it is ace, while there is the big powerful songs like 42 and violet hill, there is this which reminds us how beautiful music can sound from Coldplay, reminds us of Fix You, it tugs at your heart and as I have heard from someone on this forum, it would be great at a wedding!

Listening to Reign of Love without thinking too much about the lyrics it's deeply romantic. I automatically had images of the inside of steel drums shaped into balls reflecting light, butterflies in the air, springtime a overwhelming sense of new beginning and fresh starts. I wrote on the Facebook page that I felt it had a likeness to Plaisir d'amour in parts, I still think that.

Having looked at the lyrics in more detail perhaps there's an element of penance involved with, "To the sea I offer This heavy load" and again repeated with, "My knees go praying". The use of Locusts stumped me at first initially placing them in the biblical sense, but that sharply contrasts with the beauty and purity of this song. Therefore I've now came to the conclusion that it's used in the context of, Plato's Phaedrus were Socrates says that Locusts were once human. Does anyone else agree, or have a different opinion?

I love everything about this song, the music took over my mind.

Hey 2732, liked your comment, but sadly it did involve alot of editing, in fact it was the most edited song out of the album. I was just in youtube and listening to the band's insight into each song. They mentioned that they played on for about twenty odd minutes but it had to get chopped down. I'd do anything to hear that 20 odd minute piece... :)

Same here! I'd love to hear more of it.

I wish this song went on forever. These are my favorites types of songs...very simple, beautiful delicate melodies, & no big band sound. Don't get me wrong, I love Coldplay's full band big songs just as much as the next fan...but there's nothing better than a really stripped down little song like this to me. I love the combination of piano and those little chimes (or whatever they are). They sort of float along like a river of music. ;)

I couldn't agree more. That's exactly how I feel.

It's also why I adore The Escapist...

I don't understand people who hate this brilliant song. I think its amazing and integral part of VLVODAAHF. The best sample of old Coldplay, a certain similarity of Scientist, besides it allows to have a rest from crazy a rhythm of LIJ. I love this song and its incredible to listen it at night under starlight
