[Daily Mail] Are Coldplay the worst thing that's happened to rock?(ADD YOUR COMMENT!)

Featured Replies

What's the point of this article, really? To change people minds? To piss off Coldplay-fans? To make Coldplay-haters laugh?

This reminds me of Oasis. When they were breaking out everone loved them, but when the came waaaaaaaaaaay to successful music journalists tried to shoot them down. This is the fucking same thing. I have problem with music journalists with all their articles and reviews after reading this junk. GET A FUCKING REAL JOB YOU LAZY BASTARD :veryangry: They don't serve any point anymore. It's a truly meaningless job.

And this is my first post here BTW. You seems like a group of cool people here :) This article pissed me off so much I had to register :D

Welcome! It's tough being a Coldplay fan sometimes but we wouldn't have it any other way!;)

FYI, I'm not wound up. It's interesting to see how idiotic rock journalists can be, that's all. Making statements everyone has made which are blatently ill informed and self concerned...if anything, I'm amused :D

Well I guess you're pretty much an exception judging by most of the comments on here!!

Aw great, more drivel from, what, the DAILY MAIL?

That bastion of the truth? That great literary production?

Bah.

To think trees are cut down for this.

And what does the critic's own English teacher think of his writing?

Eng Teach: "Oh. Dear. Lord. One of my pupils now writes for the Mail?" That's the kinda thing you *don't* mention at dinner parties.

Is the full stop a comment?? :laugh3:

The worst thing that's happened to music is critics like this guy, who wouldn't know good music if it crawled up their asses and brought them to orgasm through prostate stimulation.

The worst ever thing to happen to rock? Oh come on - what about mullets?

This guys a wanker.

Is it just me or does it seem that th eonly band critics seem to fucking critisize the fuck out of a band, to diss them in nearly every area, this badly is ONLY Coldplay?:??? Have you seen worse reviews of other bands? I certainly havent??

^The more popular the band, the bigger the slagging-off. That's the way it goes, unfortunately.;)

the guy is obviously jealous of the fact that everyone in the band is supremely better looking than him

This actually gets my blood boiling >.<

lets raid that comment box

honestly, why do people take time to point out how bad Coldplay is? I still can't see how Coldplay is a common cold. Do you see me sneezing and coughing? no you do not.

But what's strange is that these articles keep popping up out of nowhere. I haven't really anything to say to the man except he's a fucking idiot. *shrugs* that's about it.

I'm not usually the kind of person who comments on those articles, but I was feeling a bit feisty this afternoon. :sneaky: I thought I'd share.

Your view of Coldplay is hardly unique. I've read everything in this article at least five other times in the last week. However, you sink as low as to call Chris Martin's daughters' name dull, which has nothing to do with music at all. Their music also has nothing to do with Chris Martin being married to Gwyneth Paltrow. Music is (obviously) very subjective. You do call Radiohead art house rock, which Coldplay is not. If this is true, why do you go on to compare them? I also missed the bit where you explained how Radiohead's music was more intellectual than Coldplay's, other than just stating that it was. Because Coldplay won't use lyrics like "from all the unborn chicken voices in my head" or "I get eaten by the worms/ and wierd fishes", they aren't a good band? I wasn't sure if you realized, but one of the most influential rock groups of all time once wrote a song about a yellow submarine. Get some integrity and stop ripping bands because everyone else is doing the same.

Nice, I'm glad you did ;]

That was wonderful! good for you mate, but... i would've summarized that to STFU. :laugh3:

haha, everyone comment on that article with "STFU"... maybe he will :P

I love how he goes on for half the article about how terrible Coldplay are, then says, "The most obvious similarity is with Radiohead."

I agree, Radiohead ARE terrible! :D

And to say Coldplay aren't "challenging" music to get into, and this therefore makes them poor - guess what, I'm willing to bet I listen to FAR weirder music than this guy does. I listen to strange electronic bands from the early '90s, Brazillian Jazz from the '60s, Techno/Rave, purely instrumental guitar (El Ten Eleven), System of a Down, Incubus, Royksopp, etc. I don't care how obscure music is. It's not a point of pride for me. Either I like a song, or I don't - I don't consider who the singer is married to.

Well done, my friend! Very well said!

You guys need to get a grip.

The majority of people that don't like Coldplay have similar reasons as this guy does for not liking them.

It just so happens that this guy gets paid to give his opinion to the masses.

Get over it.

If you like Coldplay, then like them, just because this guys doesn't, why should you care? Its his (and many other peoples) opinion.

Pick a band you don't like that is commercially successful, lets say Oasis. For everyone of you that thinks Oasis are tired old Beatles rip-off arseholes, there is someone that thinks just the opposite. And when someone writes a scathing Oasis slag off, you read it and think "Yes, thats spot on..." while someone else cries out foul. Well there are just as many people reading this about Coldplay that think its spot on too. Why do you think every person on the planet has to love this band?

Why you all need to whine and cry everytime someone slaggs off your mostest favorite band, Ill never understand, it smacks of insecurity and immaturity, and goes a long way to solidify the perception that you are just a bunch of nonobjective "fans" that refuse to see reality..its an OPINION...just like your opinion is that they are the best!

You can plug your ears and scream as much as you like, but there are going to be a lot of people that dont like Coldplay, no matter how much YOu love them...get over it.
