Yeah I agree with that comment, I dislike bands such as Dragonforce etc, everything needs to be done right and done well, not flat out showing off throughout every song. But I like my music to have some technicality (is that a word) to it, that said I do enjoy basic rock (AC/DC, The Who ... even The Beatles etc etc).

 

I listen to a pretty broad cross section of music, not only "Metal" or rock though, I just listen to more metal then anything else.

But it is interesting to wonder whether he really feels ripped off, or he justs wants attention. Now I dont know but if Joe loses it wont change sails in either parties realistically.

I think it's quite evident he hasn't been entirely ripped off. It's a melody, and a fantastic one. That two musicians couldn't stumble upon it independently is something ludicrous to suggest; perhaps Martin has heard If I Could Fly and the melody subconsciously arose from it, but I can't for the life of me conceive that he would deliberately rip it off. When they liked the Kraftwerk riff, they asked permission to use it. Martin constantly makes jokes about how he is the world's best plagiarist; you don't honestly think he'd say that were there any malice about it, do you?

That too, but come on, after watching the clip with some slight tweeks a lot of people can recognise Satriani. Honestly, no matter how much you guys deny it he is already pretty darn public, it's not like he needs a great deal of publicity. I'm sure he/his lawyers know it'd be a hard case to put through a court, what would work better? Making a small announcement on his website saying it's his music in the song or launching a public suit. Which do you think would reach more people? I think this is more about recognition then publicity.

 

He sells out shows already, might get him some new fans I guess. How many people here went and listened to his music? Perhaps in a few months when the rage settles there might be a few that recognise it to be favourable enough to them to buy an album or two.

That 30 seconds is "the hook", it's the major part of Coldplays song, without it the song wouldn't be what it is. The "dude" is not "probably just jealous". Okay I just heard this alleged song, and let me tell you the similarities I found to VLV were, hmm.....NOT THERE!!! This douche only wants attention now that Coldplay is a massive(and wonderful) band. He could have spoken up when the band realeased the song months ago, but yet he didnt. Here's the thing right. Satchfan is only giving his side of the story and he's getting this abuse.Maybe some of things he has said as been a bit over the line.
