@2732 :

Listen, I'm just elated. Simply put, speechless. No words are necessary, and adding anything to what has already been said would simply be defiling great art.:P

And so where's you're "I have a dream" speech, mr. numerical combination? Hmm..?

I already gave mine:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

all right Chuck, since you used green letters I'll forgive you:dozey:

I'm with Bono when he said Sunday, "Today we celebrate the rebirth of a dream. Not just an American dream, but an Irish dream, an African dream, an Israeli dream and a Palestinian dream." The continuation of progress after a dark chapter in our history is what I see.

And yes, it will take pressure on all fronts to change things - especially to end the war, to return fairness to the election and campaign processes, and to provide greater economic fairness both within the US and internationally. Keep the torch lit, and keep fire to the feet of those who represent us. Let Freedom Ring!!

Let Freedom Ring!!

Freedom is gay.

What happened with Ted? Well, George Bush Sr. looked pretty shakey as well there.. I thought he might fall on his way down the red carpet, but fortunately the actual ceremony went off without a hitch.

I'm not sure if its official yet, but apparently he suffered a seizure during the luncheon :\

And you're right, George Sr. did look shaky. I liked his purple scarf anyway :P

I missed the part where they booed Bush!!

I'll never forgive myself for it :bigcry:

That's not good!:( I hope he's being well cared for.. No fun having those kinds of health issues, that's for sure.

George Sr.'s cane caught my attention... But you're right - he was wearing a purple scarf! I would have gladly traded him for his son as president, as the Sr. Bush was a little more cautious and careful about things in general. At least there's reconciliation between administrations, and hopefully a recognition of the errors of the recent past..

I missed the part where they booed Bush!!

I'll never forgive myself for it :bigcry:

:P When did that happen?

I must've been fixing breakfast then.

I'm not sure.. I heard about it afterwards on cnn.

All I can say is "we live in a beautiful world, yeah we do, yeah we do."

we had to watch the inauguration today in class, and more than half the class was freaking out,

saying the world will come to an end, and they all were moving blahblahblah.

it's because their republican parents have brainwashed them!

If you hate multi-quote, skip this post altogether...

I assume some Coldplayers out there are attending it in Washington DC. They're lucky.
Yes, Zoe (aka Notlost92) was posting links to her pics and vids on another thread about the inaguration. But that's cuz she lives there :P

Woo, i know!

I quite like Obama.. a lot of people will probably be disappointed in him because he (obviously) won't be able to change everything in a month.

We say "Roma was not built in one day". It will take some time as there's so much to do.

Pres. Obama will not solve all our problems.

He will not fix the economy. He will not end the war. He will not brings troops home from Iraq. He will not improve education, lower taxes, change Washington, and most of all, he will not bring hope to the world.

Barack Obama will not do these things. We...will do these things. Together.

=

If you listen(ed) to his speech, he clearly said that the problems America faces cannot be solved by one person in a short time. He made a called for service, for sacrifice from every American to give our best towards overcoming these great obstacles. Nick is right on his obsarvation, remember that his campaign slogan was not "Yes I can" but "Yes WE can."

But for now let's just hope he does fix the economy.
Man, that's the hope of every college student and recent graduates. The job outlook is getting darker by the minute.

Moving where? Mexico? Canada? Europe?

:laugh3: Well, it's Texas, the only place where Bush is still popular :dozey:. The only place he can live and never leave if he wants to be treated well (as in not having shoes thrown at him or worse)

Not to sound rude Julie, but Texans seem to live in their little world where they refuse to accept that America has moved on from the 1950s. But that's actually how most of the US South is. People in these small Southern towns must be in mourning or shock today

It's a New Day!

i guess what more can you expect from the outgoing president's former state that's conservative anyway.

however, i think that regardless of whether or not people agree with obama's policies or proposed course of action, no one should be able to deny that today is a remarkable, historic day for so many reasons. first of all, it's a fairly rare thing in the world for such a transfer of power to be completely peaceful and smooth...that's an amazing thing in itself. number two, this is a huge step towards racial equality, no one can deny that. in that sense alone, this is a historic day for our country and i believe the world, and at the very least, i think most people should recognize it for that. and number three, this is a chance to improve our country. maybe you don't agree with or like obama, but with any new leader, there's about as big a chance that they'll do right as they'll do wrong. i, for one, am extremely optimistic, because it's obama but also because it's a new leader and a new chance for us.

i don't see how it's creepy at all.

It's a cult of personality.

Obama won't do anything differently from Bush.

Moving where? Mexico? Canada? Europe?

Singapore and New Zealand are on my radar. I'm a recent college grad and I don't intend to pay taxes in America, or allow myself to be a candidate for the draft. You can only steal from future generations for so long before they decide to leave.

talking earlier today about bush and we all agreed he's an embarrassment to texas:P

small town?

i live in houston, the fourth most populated city in the USA, how's that for a small town?:dozey:

the only person i know who's like that is my texas history teacher, mr pettigrew.

poor thing is always getting made fun of:lol:
