[##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

Featured Replies

maybe they could tag it on to a Latin America tour :idea2:

Actually, I would not mind waiting more time if such thing is planned.

Tampa is close to Latin America :)

Bummer,

I was really looking forward to go this show, it was the final show of the US gig. It will most likely be canceled and refunds will be given out because no date will magically reappear and now way they will be coming back just for one show.

Yeah, Coldplay's schedule and the Ford Amph's schedule are both tight.

I would not mind getting a refund, I could use the money

I'm sorry for everyone who were going to this one, everyone who were traveling there and people who are probably already in Tampa just for the gig :(

There doesn't seem to be much time left for this show to be rescheduled, so hopefully everything will get worked out and you'll get your show soon :nice:

Thanks for the good wishes!

There is an open slot on Thursday at the same venue... doesn't give them much time to get back across for the European leg though...

Nope :(

yea, in the end, I'll just be like, whatever I'm going, I'll just study extra hard for everything else later.

there is nooooo way I'm selling my pit ticket! not unless chris martin tells me I can sit onstage! :P

Let's see how it goes.

If I can get a refund for one of my tickets. I don't think my sister would be able to come to Tampa if it is reschedule once her school starts :\

Oh my God, I can't believe this! :stunned::veryangry2:

There's no space in the Ford Amphitheatre guys, most likely the show is gonna be cancelled. Oh well, another time another place... :dozey:

I'm afraid so...

But, there's the St. Pete Forum

:lol:atleast you got to go to one:(

I know! I feel so bad for you

Well here I am in Raleigh-Durham airport, was about to fly to Tampa when a friend tipped me off that Tampa is postponed!!! I was able to change my flight and I'm going home. None of the boys seemed sick or off last night in Charlotte.. don't know what's the deal. Hope everyone is okay. The end-of-US-tour celebration will just have to wait till another time.

Yes, regardless of what happens, whenever the concert takes place, it is going to be huge and super duper awesome!!! :D

Ok everyone, I just got to my friend's house in Atlanta. I got texts fron Kaleigh and Tracey as soon as I landed. I'm on page 69, and you guys are up to page 79, so I haven't yet read any commnents or anything. but I AM SO FREAKING BUMMED!!! We left for the airport at 5:15 this morning, so I didn't go online. I'll see what you all have been saying as I read the next few pages

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Oh, I never even thought about Elbow - I know so many people were excited about seeing them, and whenever the rescheduled show happens, the chances of them being there are really slim.

What did your banner look like? They'd have been so chuffed to see one especially for them - you should take a photo and mail it to their website or something (and post it on here too!)

I hope you make it to the rescheduled gig!

Ok, so I can still dream about Snow Patrol opening for Coldplay?

Sad news. This would've been my first Coldplay concert. Luckily I live 20 minutes away from Ford Amp so if they reschedule I should be able to make it there.

Get well soon, Chris!

Well, I can make it, but what about everyone else?

I too also hope you can go to Wembley Dianne.:)But Tampa is a nice place, enjoy your vacation!!!

Yes, it is!

Oh, the biggest bummer is that I dreamt of seeing Coldplay in MY town :bigcry:

I too hope Chris is OK! I wonder if it's this stomach bug that's going around.

My 3 year old got sick yesterday and threw up 11 times in a little over 24 hours. Tonight was his first meal since yesterday morning. I think he's coming around, and he's finally keeping his food down. Whew!

If this is what Chris has, I can totally understand! My son has been glued to the couch for 24 hours straight.

I know traveling like they do is very hard...even for the rich and healthy. I do hope Chris gets well soon, and I hope all of those who are stuck out there get your show back soon as well.

I can't even listen to Coldplay on my ipod or computer.

Roadie42's blog entry

I am interested to see if they cancel the show; they only have a week from tomorrow to begin touring in Europe. It probably takes a week to move all the sets back there. If they don't go for Thursday, my guess it that they will cancel. I believe Coldplay is exhausted. From Roadie 42's blog, the complete text of which can be found at http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=463:

#42 and the creeping exhaustion

...

Chris remarks from the B-stage at the Comcast Center the following night that you can always tell when it's time for a Coldplay tour to be over, because his haircut has reached a stage where he really shouldn't be seen in public any more. Now, I'm not going to comment on the boss's haircut, but I will take his quote as a link into the fact that, for me at least, it really is starting to feel like time for a break.

The shows, as I say, are unstoppably potent and the audiences remarkable. The time away from the gig though, is time when your body and mind begin to remind you that it's maybe time you were doing something else for a while. Something like sleeping in, like spending time with loved ones (that's if they let you back in the house).

We're at the tail end of a very long and very intense touring cycle. It's been the most enjoyable tour of my life, don't get me wrong, but exhaustion is exhaustion. To be honest, I've no idea how the band do it. Myself, I'm all thousand yard stares and a disconnected lack of anything to say. They, on the other hand, are still buoyant and cheery and delivering a knockout punch every night.

Still, we leave Massachusetts heading into two very precious days off in a row. I'm planning on one hell of a lot of sleeping. I realise too, that I'm one of the lucky ones. I've been swanning about in the band party, arriving after all the hard work is done. The crew have shown themselves to be built of truly the sternest stuff - pulling the miracle that is the show out of the bag day after day after day - a feat for which there is no magic wand, only a hell of a lot of effort. My hat, if I wore one, would be well and truly off to each and every one of them.

I'm sure that 48 hours of recuperation will give me the energy to make it to the end of the leg. Doubtless the change of scenery and production that the European stadiums will provide, along with the thrill that those shows will no doubt be, shall bring renewed enthusiasm.

So too will the sight of the finish line. Surely there will be much celebration at all that's been achieved when the last show is finally in the trucks and waved away. Some days the road is more uphill than others, I guess.

Anyway, bedtime. Do not disturb.....

I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in my life.

This is serious I need someone to talk to. I've been looking forward to this for such a long time, if they cancel this show I'll be completely devastated. This show was going to start my final year of school off great and get me in a good state of mind; now...

Hey Florida Coldplayers, and pretty much everyone who was super psyched for the Sunday show,

Massively bummed when I got my email from LiveNation. I ended up going to the Charlotte gig super last minute, since I have family up there, and my friend and I were sightseeing and doing the touristy thing in Georgia. It was an awesome show, to say the least. So we're driving away from Charlotte, talking about how awesome Sunday's show's gonna be, especially since we managed to see the last two shows, and we've never been to a last of anything, lol....Aaaaaand then my BlackBerry gets an email from LiveNation that says the show is off. It's 3:24am, I just got back in Florida, and I'm still awake thinking about it!

Anywho, I wrote this in the Charlotte thread, but if anyone didn't see it, I thought I'd post it here:

...After Friday's show, my friend and I sat in my car for about hour waiting for the traffic to die down, since getting out of the parking lot of a large venue is insanity. At one point during our hour break, there was a lit up ambulance that drove up between the staff parking lot and of the back gate areas of the venue. So when we read the "medical reasons" on the website today, our minds flashed back to that ambulance. I don't know why it was there, and if it was there for someone in the band, or someone in the audience, or someone in the staff. But I really hope no one is seriously hurt or ill. Is Chris being ill confirmed?

Crap, more than getting my chance to see them again, I hope he and the band are okay. They shouldn't get back on stage unless they are 100% ready to bring it, because if they're forced up there, the fans will be able to tell, and an exhausted band makes the crowd sad. I will wait a damn year for them! It would just mean 2008 through 2010 was my Coldplay holy trinity year, heh :)

Keep your signs and those glowsticks, you guys. We're still going to use them! I feel bad for those who were making the big trip for the last shows. I hope you guys that are gonna be in Tampa at least still party and get shit faced, like I read a few messages up, LOL.

Hopefully the ambulance was just a coincidence, I think if any of the band members had ended up in hospital the press would have found out by now.

Tribute to Coldplay: Glass of Water

I hope this cheers everyone up and reminds them of why we love Coldplay so much:

Yep especially TMZ, they're all over the place. A celeb can't fart without them finding out about it

Yeah, I actually caught the end of a docu on MJ's last days and they spoke to an official from the LA paramedic call centre and she said that the major paparazzi companies listen to the radio announcements from the call centre to the paramedics and as soon as they hear an address or name that they recognise they send out photographers to the scene. That's how TMZ were reporting on it almost in real time.

I worry about him, really. I hope he feels better, now. We are with you sexy vegetarian !

And if you need a French masseuse... :laugh3:

I feel sorry for all the coldplayers who had tickets.

That made me laugh, cause TMZ ran a piece on Tiger Woods standing in the fairway contemplating his next shot, and the audio wasn't on, but Tiger leaned into his bag and kinda lifted his leg and TMZ dubbed a huge fart in it.:laugh3::laugh3:

Hello again fellow fans..

Any news/rumors on the possible rescheduling of the Tampa show?

Thanks in advance..

Sam

Coldplay,

Again, here's hoping a successful recovery to Chris Martin! I'm sure

the band and crew is beat at this point in the neverending (it seems) tour. We love

Talk and it's techno version at the shows, but long to hear it's original version too because it rocks!!! Also, we're anxious to finally hear Glass of Water live since it was left out of our shows in FL last year in November. Either way we thoroughly look forward to yet another astonishing show! Bring on the butterflies!

We will wait for you however long it takes to recover. Maybe a little R&R time and sunsets on the west coast FL beaches of St. Petersburg/Clearwater will do the trick.

Tina

If we don't hear anything today, I know I am getting a call from babelgum on Monday before noon,(at least Saturday's call was around 10am, 3pm London time), and I will be sure to post anything I have info wise as soon as I hang up the phone, then again Coldplay.Com might know something sooner.
