[##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

Thanks Reggie!!! Great stuff!!! Have a Great weekend everyone:kiss:

Thanks Dianne, that video was very cool.

Thanks a lot Reggie. I must confess I am kind of upset with the boys. LN announced the cancellation long time ago and we still haven't heard an official word from the band. I even stopped playing their cds at my car :embarassed: However, when I saw this interview I forgot all my anger. Seeing the boys in action, singing all those great songs live...they put so much love and energy in what they do. It is impossible to be mad at them.

I still love them, but I really needed that last concert in Tampa  I think I am not over it yet...

Anyway, thanks again Reggie.

Marcia, I'm with you all the way. I go through the same phases of being upset or at least questioning of the band. But, like any good marriage, it all comes back to a basic love that I feel for them, and all is forgiven. Coldplay does bring a lot of love and joy to those who see them in concerts, and it is their passion that makes the difference.

Hey Marcia, never say never about the Tampa concert, ya never know what they might have up their sleeves, I just can't understand why they wouldn't have said anything either about it, and that leaves a glimmer of hope that maybe, something might happen. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT, but we can always hope.

I agree. There is some chance that 1) Coldpaly will do a Latin American tour; and 2) They will make a stop in Tampa. After the grueling marathon tour that they just finished, it will probably be months before they make any announcement. If they do a L.A. tour, it would probably begin early next year if they follow the same pattern as they did for X&Y.

It might not hurt for as many people as possible to write e-mails to the Colplay.com web site to let them know how disappointed they are that the Tampa show was canceled, including such details as how far one flew or drove, and how much time and money were unnecessarily spent because of the cancellation. I believe Coldplay has a conscience and would make good on it if they could. This should be done soon so as to plant the idea in Phil Harvey's mind as he works on setting up the L.A. tour.

Just say "Yes"

A strange coincidence is that I've had the song "Yes" playing in my mind, in which Chris is singing in an unusually low pitch:

"If you'd only, if you'd only say 'Yes'

Whether you will is anybody's guess,

God only, God knows I'm trying my best,

But I'm just so tired of this loneliness."

I wish Coldplay would just say "Yes" about coming to Tampa!

Maybe Coldplay has behind their hands a mini tour planned within a real tour for several cities and venues in Florida! :cheesy:

There could be a possibility that they would come to all of these places! :D

Miami @ Dolphin Stadium

Fort Lauderdale @ BankAtlantic Center

Orlando @ Amway Arena

Tampa @ Raymond James Stadium

Jacksonville @ Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena

The Coldplay sun shines in sunny Florida :sunny:

I vote for all of the above!

Dfit, I love your sig pic. From which concert was that taken?

Here's a very short clip from the Wheatland concert I attended, that captures Chris' improv at the end of Violet Hill:

"If everybody's ready.... if even though it's Tuesday everybody's gonna make a lot of noise..."

He also did a great improv during Fix You:

"High up above, or down below,

If you're sitting in the back of a Coldplay show,

Well, if you never make any noise,

Then how will we know?

Just what your worth?"

Ah, thank you Coldplay for such sweet memories!

I liked very much how Chris did this in every every show at the end of Violet Hill during the third leg of the North American tour. :wacky:

My sig picture is from U2's gig at Sheffield at Don Valley Stadium that took place on August 20.

I like everyones positive attitude.... I am so there for the fl. dates if it happened.

Me too. I feel that I *have* to be there for closure. I still feel like something is missing from my Coldplay experience. Have you seen coldplay.com lately? There is a new button for tickets that leads to the page that just says "hasta la vista.". We can only hope. I am still annoyed that there has been no statement from the band-seems kind of rude to their fans but now it's been so long that I doubt we'll hear anything fro

them.

They might now be taking a few weeks off, and then heading back to the studio to start the new album!

I am having Coldplay withdrawals! I am very sad I didn't see them in Tampa. I am kind of upset that we haven't heard anything from Colplay about the Tampa cancellation. I think I will email them! I sent an email a month or so ago, but I think it's time for another one!

Ok well, that was interesting...earlier I wrote that the coldplay.com site had a tab for Tour Dates. I was online from my iTouch at that time. So now I'm at my computer and I went to coldplay.com, and it looked the same as it always has. But at the bottom is a link to click to go to mobile site, so I clicked it and that's when the Tour Dates tab came up. And the wording is a little different, too, on the tabs.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend...and I think we all should RSVP to coldplay.com and ask for a formal cancellation statement from the band.

Why would you not ask for a rescheduling of the Tampa show, when and if Coldplay returns to the U.S.?

There is a British soap opera called Hollyoaks. There was a storyline of two gay lovers named John Paul and Craig who had a tumultuous break up. After a barage of fans sent enough e-mails, and after about 9 months, they finally brought back the Craig character, who had left the show, for a couple of weeks to give the fans a "sunset ending." I think the British media is much more accomodating of the audience than in the U.S. and that if enough fans wrote to them, expressing their wishes, they might just add it to their future plans.

Even if they don't play Latin America, they are bound to be back in the U.S. for miscellaneous appearances and might just swing by Tampa if they are reminded about how disappointed the fans were not to see their last N.A. show.

I did it - I sent them an email...

Dear Members of Coldplay,

I am one of several thousand fans that was extremely disappointed that you were forced to cancel the Tampa show on the Viva La Vida Tour. My husband and I flew from California to see you in Tampa before we found out about the cancellation. We had already seen you a few times, but wanted to see one more show before you left the U.S. I, as well as other fans that had tickets for the Tampa show, would love for you to return to Tampa for one last show. If you find it is not practical, we would appreciate a statement from the band stating that fact. The only communication we have had regarding the cancellation is an email from Live Nation indicating that the money for our tickets was refunded.

Thank you for your consideration. I hope you return to the U.S. soon.

I sent a message to Anchorman during the live blog from Wembley

I put on the Subject with capital letters:

"TAMPA IS STILL WAITING..." I hope it stand out and he read it.

I will send a message now ;)

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that term. What is "Rick Rolled"?

I don't know what Rick Rolled is either

I don't know what Rick Rolled is either, but I don't want to find out by trial and error. Thanks for the warning. I'm guessing it is something rude and loud, like when you go to some people's Facebook pages and some loud obnoxious music starts playing! This is something worse, I guess.

I know there are many huge U-2 fans out there, so please don't be offended by this comment. It is simply my opinion...

I saw U-2 was on SNL last night. I watched their first song, "Three Questions." When the second song came on, I had turned down the volume for the commercial, and I didn't even turn it back up. I've enjoyed hearing some of their music because it's very high energy and Bono has an excellent voice, yes even better than Chris Martin's in my opinion. What Bono and U-2 lack is Chris' and Coldplay's sensitivity and artistic soul. Chris often brings tears to my eyes, Bono does not.

Regarding sending an e-mail to coldplay.com, I plan to, but my case isn't as convincing because I hadn't planned on going. I would like to go if they re-schedule. I guess I could at least say that I have a round trip ticket that will go to waste if they don't reschedule. That's true.

I think it's important that everyone who suffered loss of time and money because of the Tampa cancelation let Coldplay know in as much detail as possible. They do owe their fans at least a heartfelt apology, if not compensation in whatever form they can provide. If they weren't all fans, they would probably sue for damages! but that would turn fans into adversaries, and spoil the special relationship of being a fan.
