In the hope of collecting useful feedback from Coldplayers on the CD giveaway at all the shows as they progress through the 2009 tour, please leave your comments on how you got a CD, how many you were given (how many you could have got), and whether you got one at all. It would be useful to mention which show you attended as well :) This has just been posted to the main site:

Coldplay's highly touted giveaway of a free live CD to concert goers -- a generous idea which Chris Martin announced from the stage -- was badly executed, leaving many fans empty handed, according to reports in Miami today.

The only sour spot on an otherwise excellent show, was either insufficient stocks of CDs or poor distribution, which meant they were difficult or even impossible to find. But for most people, it's likely that their memories of this show were gift enough. However, Coldplaying have been receiving emails and messages from Cruzan concertgoers regarding their missing CDs. Here were just some of the feedback comments:

-----

I could not find the free CD LeftRightLeftRightLeft that was supposed to be given away last night at Cruzan Amphitheatre in W. Palm Beach. I asked several Cruzan personnel in several different areas and they all responded that they had no information about a “supposed free CD from Coldplay” at that show. I asked some jocks at a radio station booth and they said the CDs would be given away as everyone exits. We were funneled out of the venue, past dozens of Cruzan staffers and none were giving away the CD. No one leaving had a CD.

We were promised this by Chris Martin and now it seems to be an empty promise. How can it be that the personnel in charge knew nothing of this giveaway? They were dismissive of my request for information. I even went back over to Cruzan this morning to speak with someone in authority and got nowhere. The woman at the ticket office was rolling her eyes over my request for information or help. She said they were not responsible and did not know anything about it and to call the front desk on Monday. I am being swept aside.

I want to know if Coldplay members have any idea of the thousands of fans that are now left with bitter feelings regarding the CDs. I will call Cruzan’s front office on Monday but a fat lot of good that will do me, and I know it. Why did this happen? I feel robbed now. If I find those employees horded the CDs that were supposed to be for ticket-buying fans and are selling them on eBay, I will be calling all the major newspapers and TV stations in the area. I want the CDs (one for my daughter and one for me). [name supplied]

Some greedy bastard obtained TEN copies of LRLRL and is selling them [edit: alread sold for $100 not including P&P!] as a bundle on eBay. It was supposed to be 1 CD for 1 ticket, therefore some people missed out because of this guy! [thanks Benjamin]

No Cd's at Coldplay

We went as well, my boyfriend his father and I were all very disappointed. On the way out the main gate there were a mob of people grabbing for a cd. I tried to squeze in an get one and they had just given out the last one. This was one guy giving out CD's to hundred's of people. It was a crazy scene and no one at the Cruzan seemed to care or help. We asked a few people and they said nothing. Great concert and Coldplay is fantastic but when Chris promised it we expected to get it.

Me and my friends left a bit earlier and we all got 1 CD. We saw the staff holding the CD's and they had PLENTY of them.. I guess each person got more than 1 hence so many people being left out without one. I was blasting that CD as I was driving back home and its a great CD! It only brought the CD Case and the CD itself.. nothing else.

I got a CD on the way out, but from a guy who had a box in the middle of the crowd way before the gates and then there were others at the gates also. But I guess I am lucky to get out rather quickly from the seats. Truthfully, there was NO CONTROL and people had more than one in their hands...it was major kaosity... so that's why they ran out. I agree to give out upon entering with tickets at gate. It would not take any longer, just have all the CD's boxes stocked right there at gate entry and hand off quickly. It takes longer for security search than to hand CD. Coldplay has to rethink this one before the next show!!!! Someone pass this on to Coldplay and their staff! Please don't disappoint anymore fans!

I was in the first show at West Palm Beach, and the control in giving the CD's was terrible. First when I arrived, I inferred that they will be giving the CD's at the entrance when they scan the tickets, to my surprise I realized that no CD was given at the entrance when I was already in my section and ready for the show.

I went to ask many of the people who worked in the venue and they were clueless. I asked a supervisor, and he contacted the leader of the supervisors which told him that the CD's were going to be given at the exit. I was OK with that and I left and thanked him.

After the show, I was eagerly looking for the CD's and found one person with like 7 boxes giving them out. I luckily grabbed one because it was not that heavily crowded, it was very tranquil. But suddenly, I realized that the people remembered Chris' promise in the CD's right before the show ended, and it was a complete chaos. Many people who had gone out of the venue, were reentering again, there was a lot of pushing and hassle to get the CD and many people were being rude with the persons that gave them.

Seriously, this should be first and last time that this happens. Luckily, this show wasn't that crowded (16,000). It is gonna be a nightmare when they give CD's at the exit in stadium shows, they must give them at the entrance and not the exit! Please! Think people....

The CD's were being handed out by Oxfam volunteers and I felt VERY bad for them. They were being bombarded with people. People were even trying to take the boxes away from them, I wanted to stay and help them out but my friend was in a rush.

I don't know how they'll arrange the CD giveaway at the next venue, but the way it was at West Palm Beach, you just have to look for where there is a crowd bombarding each other.

Hmm that's crappy for the fans who did not get a cd and dangerous too for the people who distributed the cds and the fans who wanted to get one. I already had this on my mind when they told that they will give the album out at the concerts. Then we speculated that they will give them out at the entry and I did not think of it any longer. However, considering the security standards there is a problem with this method: giving out the cds out at the entry means that everyone has a cd in the hall and some crazy people could break and abuse it.

Giving the cds out later is also no possibility as we have seen. When there's no organisation there will be chaos cuz people are so ignorant. I can't imagine how people even come to the idea of pulling the boxes away from the distributers - what do they want with a box of full of the same cds?? They won't get rich by selling them on ebay. :\

So it's not so easy to solve this problem if anyone has an idea please post it. I'm worried about it, maybe the distribution of the cds at the concerts will be stopped because of this s***.

Yikes, this is making me very nervous for my concert on Thursday :wreck: I was going to try and get a setlist/pick/anything from the roadies, but I don't want to have to choose between that and LRLRL! :\

Coldplay people, PLEASE fix this ASAP, although I'm sure you're already working on it...

Even i am so worried about this issue too from before they said they'll give away CDs at shows. Now i don't know how much i've to struggle:dozey:

Well any way i'll not miss any oppurtunity to get the CD in any pushing and rudeness...

i'd suggest getting there SUPER early if you want a cd. that's what i'm gonna do. :D

Getting there early won't help, the hand out CD's after their performance.

What I did was make sure not to leave without a CD. Yes, the volunteers handing out the CD's was a bit hard to find at first, but there were several volunteers. Look for one who isn't being completely bombarded. And be nice! Don't attack them!

Get one CD and go, the reason for the chaos is people trying to get more than one CD.

If you really want a CD be patient. :smug:

i thought it went very smoothly in atlanta. if you didn't want a cd, you could exit on the sides. i got one cd and it's great. however, i wonder why they just didn't give people a download code or something for itunes or something. could have saved them tons of money and saved a lot of waste, as much as they are into saving the earth and all, you know? at least there's no plastic covers on them or anything. anyway, i didn't run into any problems and was near the middle of the pack exiting, although i was in the pit. we just ran to get out to make sure we got a cd :)

^they are giving away the free download, i think it's down to them wanting to give you something physical in return for the show^

i figured that, not complaining at all. how about a t-shirt instead? lol - $35 for a t-shirt is insane. i work in retail and we print our own t-shirts. those tees they do cost about $2.50 a piece to print, maybe less due to the quantities. crazy.... i still want one :)

At Lakewood in Atlanta it was very mellow. The crowd to leave was a bit ,well crowded. My wife and I walked up to the exit and got our CD and out of the venue quickly. They had other exits for those who did not care to stand in line as well. When you come in could be better and quicker I think, but it is the venues staff not CP's. So blame the personel of the venue not the band.
