July 14, 200916 yr They allow people to call them "pop". I know they may not be "rock stars", but NSYNC, Jonas Brothers, Backstreet Boys, Hannah Montana, that's "pop". Coldplay is "very heavy soft rock" (as it says on their Mysapce). I wish they would insist they are "soft rock" and open that as its own genre for many similar bands. I'd rather be a fan of a soft rock group than a pop group
July 14, 200916 yr I agree. But I like calling them an 'alternative group'. Maybe Parachutes was soft rock, but everything else is definitely heavier than that.
July 14, 200916 yr Genres are pretty useless once you really get to know a band's music, anyway. I mean if they had a large enough proportion of songs like Green Eyes and Strawberry Swing, people might call them Alt-country! ;) (if you're into that sort of thing, by the way, check out Sleepercar--they opened for CP in Kansas City and it was love at first listen).
July 14, 200916 yr I agree. But I like calling them an 'alternative group'. Maybe Parachutes was soft rock, but everything else is definitely heavier than that. Alternative/soft rock is what I'd call them Plus, I wish soft rock were its own genre. Compared to AC/DC and Led Zeppelin I feel weird calling Snow Patrol or Coldplay or Radiohead or Keane "rock", but calling them "pop" just insults their music. That's why I wish "soft rock" were a more widely used term.
July 14, 200916 yr 1. Someone said that they are too popular. Agree with that. 2. They always left Latin America at the end. When they have made almost more than 100 shows around the world. 3. Fix You. Hate that song.
July 14, 200916 yr Honestly...nothing. Normally there is always one thing I don't like about a particular musician(s) but with Coldplay that is not the case. If anything, I am not too crazy about some of the fangirl antics.
July 14, 200916 yr THEY HAVENT RELEASED THE SONG LEFTRIGHTLEFTRIGHTLEFT! THEY HAVEN'T RELEASED THE SONG FAMOUS OLD PAINTERS I may never forgive them for getting me so excited about a song they'll never show us.
July 16, 200916 yr Author What's with the "too popular" complaint? "Oh no! Other people like what I like! What a travesty!"
July 16, 200916 yr 1. the verses of fix you. the chorus is good though. 2. I really hate the fact that I'm not one of them
July 16, 200916 yr that im too young for them  :wacky::kiss: or 14-15 years of difference are not a problem?!
July 16, 200916 yr Fix you and Politik (hate, hate, hate) That I carn't ever get a desent ticket for their shows! That I think they have gone mainstream, I miss the 'parachutes' sound. The god darn horrible military jackets (esp. those bright coloured ones)
July 16, 200916 yr that im too young for them  :wacky::kiss: or 14-15 years of difference are not a problem?! Same here!!!:laugh3::laugh3:
July 16, 200916 yr I don't really like the fact that Guy's bassline is not as wild as it was in the Parachutes.
