For the person who made my mixtape: I'm listening to it again, I'll post the review soon.

  • Author
Dave, I think it's time for you to review the unreviewed. Or are we gonna wait?

I'm currently in between computers doing migration work :(

That is not my link in the first post :(

My bad, sorted :)

1: This song is great  The voice sounds familiar, Death cab for a cuttie maybe? I'm not sure, though, it could be Band of Horses

2: Based on piano and guitar 2 or 3 chords sequence, but I just don't like his voice at times, it makes the song kind of pop.

3: Acoustic guitar, some cool arrangements on electric clean but with reverb guitar, Nice song, nonetheless, his voice lacks power.

4: I know this one, or at least have heard it before somewhere, his low tone voice may be annyoing and repetitive at times, but music is kind of dreamy, I'm eager to know who's this.

5: Excellent! The intro reminds me a bit of the beggining of coldplay's poppy fields, strings arrangements during chorus the dude has a low agreable voice. Let me know who's this as soon as possible

6: Good song, love the guitar tone and durmming

7: Holy shit, this is amazing, His voice reminds me a little of red hot chilli pepers, which is kind of disappointing because it's such a good song, his voice doesn't fit with this excellent music unfortunately, but still I like the song.

8: Sky is falling out and there's an angel on the groud it's getting cold(er?) Catchy chorus, very nice song. I like it.

9: Acoustic guitar and an electric one like reggae. Sounds familiar. Despite not liking much the style of the electric guitar that makes the rythm I like the song.

10: Simple but great

11: Two weeks by Grizzly Bear. What else can I say?

12: Some electric guitar arpeggios, and a voice that reminds me just a little of the smiths, but with somethng different. It's cool I like it

13: Sorry but I don't like this one

14: Smashing Pumpkins

15: What a perfect way to end! I can't get it out of my head now, and it's not a shitty catchy mainstream song, it's a cool indie one.

As a conclusion I enojyed a lot my mixtape, being a nice bunch of indie/altenative songs.

*goes to check some artist*

How did you know I like the smiths? :stunned:

Whoever made my mixtape, sorry I'm taking so long. I've been so busy, but I'm finishing up the review right now so I'll hopefully post it soon. :)

Sorry if I changed tenses a lot, I reviewed these songs during different times and sometimes I'd review it halfway, leave, and come back and review it after another listen so... I looked over it again, but I didn't want to hold onto it for any longer JUST for proper grammar. haha

TRACK 1

It sounds like an accordion opening up this song. If it's not, I apologize for totally failing on identifying that instrument. (I have a feeling it's probably all done on the synthesizer, though.) Anyway. I like it. I am a sucker for songs that start off slow and get a kick about halfway and is played faster after that. Which is exactly what this song does.

I wasn't a big fan of the vocals, but as the song progressed I started to like it. Especially at the end. It just fit perfect.

TRACK 2

I like the guitars about 30 seconds in the song. It took me a bit to realize it was an instrumental song but when I did, I really got into it. The guitars are really killer, but I am a little disappointed that the drums didn't play anything too extraordinary. When it comes to instrumentals, I'm really keen on drums. But I still loved this song, it's really cool and I like how it builds up to this one moment toward the end.

TRACK 3

OH! I've heard this song before! I couldn't point out how at first, but now - after listening to it over and over again - I know that I had seen the video for this song one time. I never caught the name of the artist so I'm curious to see who it is by because this song is so beautiful.

Sometimes I don't like it when it breaks from song to rap to song to rap, but this here plays out really well. And the bridge of this song just makes me go, "oh, my heart" because it's that beautiful. I like the overlapping of voices at the end of the song, too.

TRACK 4

Okay, I'll admit I didn't like this song at first. It's really slow and while I like me a good slow song, this song dragged out REALLY slow. But as I listened to it more and more, it kind of grew on me. I like the

overlapping of voices, it's cute. I just wish the singing didn't start a minute into the song because it got a little boring.

TRACK 5

The male vocals remind me of some really cheesy sex song or something, but I enjoyed the female voice. It's a really fun song; a nice dance song. I like the guitar during the last minute of the song.

TRACK 6

This song has a really interesting start with vocals harmonizing and then the break into piano. I really really like the piano in this song and the cool build up of instruments. I feel like I've heard these vocals before but I probably haven't - I like them, though. It's a little weird when he hits those high notes during the chorus, but I still like it. Totally digging the bridge as well and some strings! Nice.

TRACK 7

A nice traditional Spanish sound with a modern kick to it. I love it when things have this kind of desert sound to them, too. Which sounds a little silly but really got me to like this.

And surprise heavy guitar at the end! That's brilliant! The only thing is that the song ended way too soon.

TRACK 8

This song's really interesting. I described it as Enrique Iglesias singing in French, but I have no idea what language it is so I don't want to dub it as French or anything. I like the trumpets in this song, but I have a huge soft spot for trumpets.

TRACK 9

Beautiful piano entrance and then BAM a surprise of instruments. I'm not that big a fan of the vocals, though. I like the drumming; I mean, there's nothing real special about it but I just like how it's a little overpowering over the vocals. I just don't like the song that much.

TRACK 10

Reggae! I love me some reggae! I'm starting to notice a little religious theme going on in this mix, hehe. What can I say? This is a great reggae song that plays out really well. I don't know if I should call it beatboxing or not that he does at some point of the song... but I really like it. It's cool.

Dude! I love this song! Really interested to hear who this is by.

Track 11

Love the vocals in this; they sounded really familiar the first time I listened to them and about halfway into the song I figured out that it was Incubus. My friend is a really big fan of this band and I like the songs I've heard (like this one), but I've never gotten largely into them. I should.

I like how it all builds up in the end, if that makes any sense. How it goes from soft to loud to soft to loud; it's a nice song.

TRACK 12

I liked the man's vocals in this and all of a sudden female vocals came in and I liked 'em too. They have a similar singing style which go really well together. It's a great duet, but I also have a soft spot for duets. I especially like the part where the man sings, "Do you believe?" and the women sings back "I DO BELIEVE." And even the guitars sort of mimic each other. Great song!

TRACK 13

I like the vocals in this song too. I feel like I've heard this before, but I know I probably haven't. And, gosh, I love the lyrics to this song! And the guitar. Cute song despite it's lyrics. heh.

TRACK 14

Neil Young! Oh, and I love this song too! Okay, so after listening to this for a while now I'm going to risk sounding stupid and say that this might, probably, is Oasis? I really love Oasis but I never knew they did a cover to this song, but I don't want to be lame and have you tell me it's not them. hahaha!

Anyway, this song is a classic. It's executed really well but not super special. I honestly like it when bands try to change up covers and make it their own but, if this is Oasis, I don't really expect that from them since they never do that.

TRACK 15

I'm totally digging the vocals on this and the guitar. He kind of sounds like Jack White but I don't think it's him; it stops sounding like him the more you get into the song anyway. I like that it pauses for a couple seconds to just get back into the song and the piano is so pretty. The bluesy sound in this is brilliant!

And then there's a chorus of vocals and the lead singer sings this high-pitched note which sounds great! These are my favorite kind of songs. Where it sounds like it was sung among a group of friends just chillaxing and having a good time. I think this my favorite song off of this mix, too!

Oh, and there's hand claps at the end which just complete the whole sound. Love it! Great ending to this mix.

Overall, I loved the diversity in this mix since I like to think I have a diverse taste in music. I don't know if that was intentional - probably not since no one on here even knows who I am - but if it was, that's a super cool consideration. I didn't like all the songs on this mix but I did like a lot of them and I haven't heard the majority these songs before which is awesome! Thank you so much for whoever made this! And thanks for being so patient for this review.

Ok, here's the review for my mixtape

1. Interesting beat. It reminds me of Architecture in Helsinki for some reason but the singer's voice indicates it's not them. This is a nice, slow song.

2. Explosions in the Sky by any chance? It sounds like something they could write, but there's just guitar so maybe it's not them. Someone starts singing. I don't like his voice, not when he sings the high notes, it's too squawk-y. But I still like the song, especially the ending, it's delicate and good. Makes me think of autumn.

3. Hmmm I don't know. It works well with the first two songs, but I'm not fond of it that much. I do see myself burning it on a cd and listening to it in the car, so that's good probably.

4. I prefer this one. I like her voice. Not concentrating on the lyrics, but yeah. The song is good, who is she?

5. Cool  Do I hear a violin and maybe a sort of harmonica? I'm soooooo wrong here  But I think I like this song best so far. It's a good one! And funny!

6. Oh! :surprised: I like this minimal melody and singer's voice is quite good. Like all other songs, this one is also unknown to me.

7. Is this Sigur Rós? Yesssss I hear Jónsi! But I don't recognise the song. No clue whatsoever. :hides:

8. I like this one, too! Singer's voice is good, there's piano... :nice: What band is this? Should I know it?

9. Same as above. :nice:

10. Are these Kings of Leon?? I've heard this singer's voice before, don't recognise the song!! :bigcry: Sounds good!

11. The last track which is, I'm fairly sure, Sigur Rós again. Nothing wrong with that, I lurrrrrve them! :D Again, don't recognise the song. :uhoh:

All in all, this is an excellent mixtape. I'd love it more if it had more upbeat songs, but it flows so well so I can't complain.

Sorry if I changed tenses a lot, I reviewed these songs during different times and sometimes I'd review it halfway, leave, and come back and review it after another listen so... I looked over it again, but I didn't want to hold onto it for any longer JUST for proper grammar. haha
